try using pomade instead

not looking for a slick back look, more of a wavy and airy style but my hair is too thin, so wax/hairspray/gel doesnt work so well, then i saw how those foam/mousse products work like coating your hair, sounds more suitable for my use than just applying a bit and twisting like wax.

You could use hair spray on top of your usual styling product.
Spray always give you a stronger hold & last longer...
Just take note spray at some distance away from your hair if not your hair will be as solid as a rock lol biggrin.gif

tried alr but my hair not enough volume tongue.gif I even try using gel wax and hairspray combination cannot hold, until that day I went to a salon and they use mousse and wow it lasted whole day. I guess I need to use pre-styling product before using styling product.

been using their moving rubber and their hairspray, I think i have an allergic reaction to moving rubber and i've already tried all the colours using different amounts. Wasted a lot of money on stuff that doesn't work for me....Hairspray works good but doesn't last the whole day for me. Will fall flat after like half a day? The problem is my hair is thin and flat and soft, so just styling not enough I need to encompass my entire hair. Reading a lot on the net mousse is like the best thing for volume.

Ok used the hair mousse for 2 days now and it's awesome, my hair can hold quite well without hairspray. 1st day used it by itself and blow dry the volume stayed and hair didnt go flat, just the style went out of shape. Today used it together with Loose shuffle Gatsby Moving Rubber. Still not enough hold but the best part is that it doesn't flatten, maybe tomorrow I try with hairspray, but all in all the mousse is doing what I want it to do. Which is to give volume and keep my hair from flattening.

So for those with thin and soft hair the mousse really helps to keep your hair from going flat and look ugly haha.

any recommendation for hair mousse? My hair is very soft and gets flat easily even after a layered cut. Wax and gel doesn't work for me and once a hairdresser use some kind of foam which i think is mousse, my hair could stay up whole day which is something i find damn hard to achieve.

normal people usually dont have time to do what hairdressers do. your hair has volume when you leave the hairdressers because of 3 reasons.
1. layered cut - it makes your hair lighter and all, but it leaves pockets for your hair to be increased in volume with step 2 and 3. (this isnt the right way of explaining this i am sure hairdressers have more technical terms)
2. BLOWDRY - there was a time in my life where i was very freaking vain, and when i found this out, i blew dry my hair everyday. hairdressers learn techniques of blow drying to increase volume (blow against the style)
3. mousse and hairspray - mouse so that the product doesnt weigh down your hair, and hairspray to seal the deal and keep it like that.

cant believe i just foudn this thread now.. anyway im almost done with my suavecito strong hold. love the strong hold because my wavy hair tends to be a bit stuborn and goes out of shape fast with lighter hair products.

planning to try something new, and have noticed some of the cheaper local brands. any of them worth trying?

I blowdry my hair everytime i come out of a shower since I found out about it hahaha, my blow drying techniques though need to be improved. Mousse is the best product that has worked for me since forever and that makes me feel so accomplished xD, I rarely use hairspray unless one day I see my hair "eh damn nice I want this to hold" because im not that good at styling my own hair, if i try to style its like a lottery either good or bad tongue.gif

i feel you bro... we are just not as consistent cos we arent hairstylist.

but i realized shampoo before blow has a difference compared to no shampoo.

if you feel that your hair flattens too easily, you shouldnt thin your hair. layering makes it worse bro.
