What brand is the avocado shampoo? I personally haven't seen a shampoo like that. If you want to get a good quality shampoo, may I suggest you visit a pet grooming salon? Usually the groomers there would have a better idea on which shampoos to use for your dog's coat condition, since they do this for a living smile.gif Or, if you already have a brand in mind, you could just visit the bigger pet stores like Ikano Pet Safari. The bigger stores usually would carry more variety. smile.gif

If Murphy's condition (dry skin with pimples) continues after using the shampoo for say, a month...perhaps it's something else that's causing the dry skin. A visit to the vet might help a little smile.gif

P/S: I have to add though that puppies need a milder type of shampoo. My groomers recommend a tearless shampoo as well, so that it doesn't irritate the eyes. smile.gif

Umm...no transport ar? A bit hard wor...unless you are willing to splurge on a cab? Coz I don't think public transports allow any pets on board sad.gif Or, maybe you could ask if there are members here who stay near your place to arrange transportation?

Thanks Ryne....ya, I need a milder shampoo..especially tearless shampoo...any good recommendation...I never been to IKANO Safari...where it located? how to go? any LRT or public transport?  I send Murphy to the vet already, Dr said is a puppy pimple not a big problem and ask me to look for better quality shampoo like Avocado Oil Shampoo, Eucalyptus Shampoo  or Pepper Mint shampoo that would suitable for their skin...

My Murphy very notty, every time I bath him, he like to lick the shampoo doh.gif ...arrrrr....I'm so scare he get poison so I use water to spray his mouth and make him throw out the shampoo.... sweat.gif
*
Well, a friend of mine uses a brand called Earth Bath or something like that. His pup had some dry and flaky skin, and he said so far it's working for him. You could try looking it up smile.gif

Ikano Power Centre is actually near 1 Utama...haha! Umm...I'm no good with public transport, coz I drive most of the time. But there is a Kelana Jaya LRT station nearby there. From that LRT station, there are shuttle buses that will take you to Ikano (which is also where IKEA is). Maybe other members here can help Daphne out?

hey guys/gals,

my Ramses boy is only 9 weeks old but he is already humping santa claus....

i thought male dogs only start to show sexual maturity at around 9 months to a year when they start lifting their legs and pee?
*
Humping is not necessarily sexual...it could also mean dominance. But it's rather funny though to see a 9 week old pup humping something. laugh.gif

hi guys...juz wanna ask sumthing..how to reduce the bad breath of MS huh...my elmo but's mouth very smelly ler....
any idea??  hmm.gif
*
There are many ways to reduce bad breath, I suppose. Allow your dog to chew on chewies that could help with cleaning the teeth or brushing the teeth with dog toothpaste could help. Changing the diet might also help too. But bad breath could also mean rotten teeth, so you might want to check Elmo's mouth first to see...

If she has stomach upset, you could skip one meal to let her stomach settle a bit...give a little 100 plus (let out the carbonated gas first) every half hour or so. If she can keep the 100 plus down after a few hours, try to give a little bit of soft food. If she can keep it down after that, slowly increase the food.

If it doesn't work, revert back to what she can keep down (100 plus or water). Most important is to keep her hydrated. If her condition worsens, I would say a visit to the vet is needed.

but daisy stil very super active wor..i mixed some honey wif her water...so she wil drink..100plus wil work wan ar?
*
The 100 plus is not for 'curing' the stomach upset...it's just to keep her hydrated. If you want, you can also give her the hydrating salts while you let her stomach settle. Again, if she keeps vomitting and cannot keep any food down, please send her to the vet for a check up. Did she have any loose poop?

So sorry to hear about your loss, Daphne. I'm sure Yuuki is in a better place now..

Really sickening to hear that there are unethical vets like that. But it also COULD be because your pup was already infected from the breeder's place. I can't say I know a lot about the virus, but if the pup has already been infected BEFORE you brought him back from the breeder, it could have been too late also, coz there was a span of time from when you brought Yuuki back home to the time he lost his appetite. Still, it's quite maddening to hear that the vet didn't do anything to let you know about his condition. That's definitely uncalled for.

I guess there's nothing much we all can say...all we can do is symphatise with your loss and hope you'll find comfort in your new pup (if you decide to get another one...not to replace Yuuki, but another pup to love). Thanks for sharing your story with us.

can dog eat banana, strawberry, blueberry, cheese, apple, beef, carrot, liver, peanut butter, pears, and oat?
*
Err...as far as i know, yes, those are edible! Although, cheese might not be a good idea to feed too much...too much and too frequent feeding of cheese will cause stress on the kidneys, and Schnauzers have a high probability to develop kidney problems. A little bit every now and then is still okay though, just not too much and not too frequent.

no la.. really felt tat u knw a lot about taking care of dogs..
is good to read more info of dogs.. can be their best friend ma.. understand them more well.. then sure lik can communicate with them lik tat..
em.. i wonder how to train my augus ar? he cant understand sit, hand hand & etc..  sweat.gif
*
Haha...I try. My house almost always have pets at home, so we all learn from taking care of them, and learning from other experienced pet owners as well as reading smile.gif

Training takes quite a bit of time and patience, especially if we have not taught our dogs at first. smile.gif If you want to start with sit, take a piece of treat or some kibble before you feed Augus and hold it in front of him. Let him see the food, but don't feed him just yet. Slowly, raise the food above his head and towards his back a little, saying 'Sit' (he should follow the food by looking up). He will eventually sit to look up at the food. The moment his butt touches the ground, praise him loads and give him the treat...smile.gif Try this a few times every day, and he should get it in time smile.gif Once he knows the command, you can slowly phase out holding the food and just telling him 'Sit' to get the reward. Later on, you can even phase out the treats to just lots of praise, but of course, don't move too fast too soon. Baby steps is the key smile.gif

I have actually bought a book called 101 Dog Tricks, which has step-by-step activities and photos...very cool! Tried a few tricks with Scottie, and he now knows some of them! You can see the website here: http://www.101dogtricks.com/pages/index.html

There are also quite a few websites on the Internet that you can look up for teaching basic commands, like sit, down, etc. Tricks need a bit more searching I guess...Google is your best friend wink.gif I like to Google whatever I can for information that I want to know smile.gif Hope that helps!

he is 12 weeks old now....going into his 13th week now. and he is 3.25KG.
thanks for the recommendation of the book. will go check it out in the weekend.

so far Ramses knows how to Sit, and Shake Hands now. i'm really amazed at how fast they can learn. took me 2 days for each trick.....

started with treat as a reward....now no need treats edi...just lotsa praise and kisses and hugs smile.gif
*
Wow...3.25kg is rather heavy for a 4 month old pup. LOL! Ramses is too 'prosperous' already...tongue.gif

Yeah, puppies are easier to train coz they don't really have that many 'bad habits' that older dogs develop...smile.gif But puppies also have shorter attention span, and we would need to keep repeating the tricks coz they forget quite easily too. smile.gif

Haha...you CAN actually train Ramses to 'speak'. smile.gif Scottie knows how to 'Say Please' if he wants something from me...tongue.gif

Lie Down is also relatively easy...from the 'Sit' position, use your treats to lure him down, saying 'Down' at the same time. If he stands up (but head looking down to seek the treat), keep the treat covered with your hand until he goes down. When he does, reward him with lots of praise and the treat.

If he still couldn't get the position after a few tries of that, you can gently move his front legs to the 'Down' position from the 'Sit' position. Repeat that a few times, and later try the treat lure thing to see if he can grasp it. smile.gif Scottie got the trick within about 10 - 15 mins if I'm not mistaken.

augus will sit once got food on my hand. em.. i tot can ask them sit without anything to feed him cz i saw my fren's dog, it's shih tzu.
wow.. tat dog really bravo.. know alot tricks & listen to owner command without any food or treats on hand.

really thx a lot.. will look thru.. biggrin.gif  thumbup.gif

Well, I THINK the DVD is an extra thing...when I got the book,it's just the book. LOL! But I like the interesting steps that we can follow, and one thing to note is that we need to be REALLY patient with our dogs. Not all dogs learn tricks very fast, especially for beginner dogs. Chalcy I guess we can say she's an expert ady with her repertoire of tricks and stuff. smile.gif Most important is that we do not compare our dogs to others (even though it's hard...I compare a lot! LOL!). We rate our dogs by their progress...I have to say that although I think Scottie still has a long way to go, he's come a long way since his puppy days. smile.gif

The food and treats thing all are for starting...dogs need motivation to do something, and food and treats make it easier for them to learn smile.gif Once they have gotten the command(s), you can phase out the treats to just praise smile.gif
