Would the medicated shampoo be called 'Malaseb' or something like that? If so, I remember my vet telling me not to use it so frequently...after the problem has gone away, we should switch back to a normal shampoo. Scottie had skin problems too when he was small (he had more of the ears having redness and spots in the ears like pimples), but usually the vet would recommend creams for him. The medicated shampoo was for Kenji when he had problems with the fur...it was a fungal infection, so the vet asked us to bathe Scottie with it too sometimes in case he would get it from Kenji. After the problem was gone, we switched back to a normal shampoo, and now they're okay.

There was one time also when Scottie had a rash like pimples on the neck...some look like got pus inside some more. >.<" That one was an allergic reaction to the de-worming medicine that my vet gave one time. I use a cream that I bought previously from my vet...no brand, but my vet calls it a 'N-cream'. It went away after 1 - 2 weeks.

Perhaps it's best you check with your vet first about the rash, limgp1976...there could be a lot of factors that can cause it. Maybe allergy to something, or bacterial infections, that sort of thing.

I need to share a recent experience. Kimi used to have a lot of rashes, red dots, loss-hair patches, dandruff all over her body.
I have tried many things, changing food, shampoo, bed, kennel, fabric she touches, etc.
Nothing worked.

So one day i got her a flea collar (<40RM). It's the brown colour one with a lot of powder.
Followed the instructions and put it on.

Since then, she had no more ticks/fleas. Completely!

Lo and behold, all the skin problems vanished. Completely!! I was very very happy. Her coat is so much more healthier now and she doesn't scratch anymore. This has been so for about 2 months now.

The collar can be used for 6 mths or something like that.

Conclusion: Kimi was allergic to flea/tick bites. Once it gets into her bloodstream, her skin randomly gets outburst.

Maybe it's something you can consider. biggrin.gif hope it helps.

No, the Malaseb shampoo is not for killing fleas/ticks...it's mostly for bacterial / fungal infections on the fur or body

MKA stands for Malaysian Kennel Association...they are the official national registrar of purebred dogs in Malaysia. You can go to their website here to read more about them: http://mka.com.my/

An MKA certificate would actually trace the lineage of the puppy, meaning you would be able to see who are the pup's parents, grandparents, so on and so forth. Something like a birth certificate, if you may. To get this, the family tree would all need to be registered under MKA or other countries' recognized Kennel Associations. The certificate would only be important if you intend to send your pup for a confirmation show (kind of like a beauty pageant for dogs). If you are looking for a pup just as a pet, a certificate would not be that important.

Usually, pet shops would sell pups with certs with a higher price, claiming it has better qualities or something along the lines....not exactly true. A pet quality dog would also have a certificate if the breeder registers it with MKA. A purebreed dog without any certs just can't compete in confirmation shows...even if they have show qualities.

Hope that helps a little...smile.gif

Hmm...

My puffy also got skin problem.. like got red dot near her pirate there...

The doctor had advice me beware on the skin problem as MS family will always had this problem.. very common one wor..

When the red dot become like pimples... the doctor had gave Puffy a medicine.. after drink that medicine for a week.. the pimples all gone...

The doctor also advice me provide kibbles with "Lamb & Rice" ingredient de lo.. and he said that IF we found a brand is suit for Puffy (means the pimples not come back) then better don't change lo...

I shower puffy by "Tick Shampoo".. is quite work lo... No guarantee 100% ticks off.. as i got bring Puffy go out frequently lo.. especially bring her come to my house play with my other dogs....

That's my experience lo..
