Yeah, I still remembered the day that we bought and enjoyed the music cassettes and the black label disc (not sure if you are as old me ). Those were the glorious days of genuineness. Little piracy, affordable.

I just hope gaming should not be something luxury. I wish that everyone should enjoy it, it has a lot of benefits rather than cons dun you think?

( IMHO it help to reduce crimes too, not contributing to it, like what that Jack Thompson claimed)

I too hope that gaming should not be a luxury hobby. Because if gaming itself is a luxury, the future generation wont have a lot of gamer, and that would be bad because from gamers come game developer. We dont want games to be adapted from movie anymore(which is bad) just because we dont have any new gamers anymore.

For me myself, i own both, ori game and also pirates game. Yes i cant afford to buy every each game out there just for the sake to try it. But i do buy good games that deserve it to be bought.

I'm surprise to see such a deep discussion about piracy here and no one is flaming around except one very famous saint which never touches anything pirated before. Well, I don't oppose piracy... in fact, I tried to buy original for all the games I like.

And if you have buy pirated thing in your life, be it for gaming or other stuff (shoes, shirt and whatever),then please don't talk about moral (not morale, totally different meaning) here.

I would never make this mistake when making a purchase. Forums are here, Review sites too. But If I really did get a horrible game like that. I'd probably share the suckiness and gave it out as a present of something. haha...

Started out with the adventure games day (Sierra, Lucasarts)...I started out with pirate games before but seeing how crazy and hectic it can be in the software development front being a software developer myself, i realised how much these guys pour their blood and sweat out to give us great games. I think it's just wrong to short change these guys no matter how much we despise the publishers in turn and how much they're profitting from the creative ideas of the developers. But then, that's how the gaming industry works .


EDIT: Oh there is another valid reason to going ori.....Updates and Patches to sometimes almost certainly game killing bugs or any bugs that hinders the gameplay experience.

Ppl always made bad choices. buying a bad ori game will just make u unhappy.

You never had a feel where ppl brought a wrong car or house.

Compared to your situation, the losses is very minimal, dude.

You might think buying pitared bad game is of no harm, but remember pirate copy is still a stolen property.

It's still up to the one who made decision. Just like someone here openly told anyone that pirate is ok with him in the extent that if a car cost a fraction of the original price and knowing it's a stolen car, he'll still buy it.

It's about one's morale afterall.

Benefits for original games overseas are better in the sense that if you buy a game and you're not happy with it you can return it within 7 days I believe

they cannot price the game/console too cheap in other countries or u'll have parallel imports issues

ehh, i don't really get it, to get the updates and patches we have to go online, rite?
err, i've got a modded console, so i won't be going online anytime soon heh. so not much help going ori there. owh well.

what's good about original games (or for that matter, original consoles?)

1) Official warranty
2) Xbox Live
3) Nice packaging
4) Buying and trading games from nice people. Don't want to benefit those hated ah-bengs pirates at all.

yeah, it's expensive buying original games, but if you bought a modded console you would only experience less than 40% of the total Xbox gaming experience..I know, coz I bought a modded console once.

and the original xbox360 games come with nice looking green case that i dunno where to buy that green dvd case .... and oso got booklet ...

Yeah dats wat im saying coz if say yer game requires u to go online to patch or update coz it wont play right if u dun? If yer having a modded or if ur game is pirated it becomes a bit difficult and u would only have the unpatch version which has the bug which doesnt let u play rite. Not to say all games are like dat, but there are chances that some games now or in da future may require u to patch before playing the game...zero-day patch. I duno if the developers purposely do that to so call curb piracy or is truly a unforseen bug found after game has gone gold. Nyways, that's just one of the reasons ori seems like a better option. Wouldn't call it a benefit unless u talking of extended playability with downloadable content and stuff but thats another thing all together.

I just got my HALO wars original and it hang for 3 sec on cinematics like cannot read pirate DVD

I take out the disc & wiped it....now seems like the symptom is gone...

lol you are wrong here my friend, about the againg Wira to drive like an real Evo, you could always swap the Evo3 engine, or puchased an half cut of an original evo 3 to do an transplant, that what usually ppl do. it could go as fast & it feels the same. thats what ppl call fully modded, a 10-20k would do =P

And for me personally, I rather spend more on the original thing, being called Wiralution sucks.

I agreed with Snipersnake, some people had no idea that their "Kancil VTEC" or "Wira Evo IV" or "Mitsubishi Saga" or a car with 3 different types of suspension brands stick to it's side makes me (and almost everybody i know) laugh at their delusions..but it's their business to be laughed at anyway.
