regarding those cs who hang up the phone...once i lodge a super complain straight to their head..its a local bank...then the whole cs department revamped and the old staff got shoot upside down lol....u ned to write a powerful letter with superior english to their management level peoples...btw....i feel someone here have some rage towards the blue bank as i found that eventho in US they got rumours of collapsing..still they are an international bank afterall..and is recognised far much more better in overseas than using ur local bank cc LOL
*
Wow...your letter must be super powerful enough to make the whole department and system revamped!? smile.gif

Anyway, I do agree this particular US bank had the edge over other banks in the past. I reckon their cc service is satisfactory thus far. But we need to be a little more cautious when depositing our money into foreign banks in view of the global market volatility. It has always been better to be alert than negligence. But it's all fine for cc service.

In the Just one application form stated that annual fee waiver subject to min transaction RM 42 per day. hopefully it can be accumulated as one year transaction of RM 15 K+++, otherwise I don't think many people can afford to use their card every day
*
Oh...I've just submitted my application without studying the T&C about the AF waiver. Can someone please confirm whether the AF waiver is based on yearly or daily spending?

Referring to one of my previous postings, is Shell included in the participating merchants for cash rebate? I thought the rebate is applicable to all retail purchases?

To me, it is ok as I have nothing to lose. So, I cancelled it after 3 months...

If we have nothing to lose, why not we just let them earn the commission???
*
You are so kind! smile.gif I'll cancel whatever pre-approved cards that I never apply for.

hi i got call yesterday, from maybank. she told me that maybank offer their credit card petronas.. what is that?

no fee, just take the card for free, quite confusion..

should i take?
i got this offer coz my current salary with their bank
*
You can just accept it if it is the cc that most fulfills your requirements. Even though it is free for life, you may need to think twice if it does not really fit your needs, in order to reduce your financial risk.

Uob is one of the most paranoid bank in malaysia, usually offer funny CL , which is extremely low, and not to mention their policies.
*
Another bank which offers super LOW CL is Alliance. They are aggressive in innovation and marketing, but conservative in certain aspects.

Just received my UOB Preferred Platinum card today and activated.

But this card does not have cash rebate like One card or SCB Just One in which SCB rejected me while UOB approved me.  rclxub.gif
*
I can't figure out why SCB rejected your application in the first place, as you are qualified for Plat cc from other banks and Titanium requires lower income eligibility. You had cc or other acc with SCB before?

Congratulations! Plat is not unusual anymore nowadays and banks tend to give higher CL to retain customers. Enjoy shopping with your new card ya! smile.gif

if i hadnt been thr i think he will wait till the line drop then say cc cant go thru  doh.gif  quite troublesome .... tomolo test pump petrol n c ( aih no more shell , hafta change  sad.gif  )

Retailers in M'sia and less advanced countries in overseas are inexperienced handling cards with both debit and credit functions. It may frequently lead to failed transactions. But it is quite an experiment for retailers, towards a more convenient shopping system for consumers in the future.

May be they checked my credit records and found that I have housing loan which is more than 200k plus. They called me 2 times. First was to ask my details. 2nd was to require me answer my credit records... what are the things I owe to banks....

I felt strange that my applications always being rejected if I applied myself either through bank or submitted directly to bank by fax or email.

But those that I applied through roadshow agents, I always get it approved.
*
RM200k home loan is not a big sum. Did your existing cc contain huge outstanding balance or BT yet to be settled when you applied for a new cc? Anyway, you can just neglect the bank in the future as they don't appreciate you as a customer. Their agents may contact you one day to promote their new products as they have already got your details.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Jun 5 2009, 09:59 PM)
today i pumped at petronas, after select language, came out another screen
can see TWO Mastercard

>>Mastercard
>Mastercard

I just press OK and then can pumped oledi, I think the 1st one is CC

will try to pump at Shell tomolo and see can get rebates or not
*
Were the words - Debit and Credit shown on the screen when you did the transaction? In this case, I won't deposit any money into the current acc as I may press wrongly resulting in debit instead!

All my credit cards added up and have more than 120k credit limit and there is about 15k on BT and instalments scheme used....May be they thought that these amounts are huge and risky to them.

Anyway, UOB did not call me at all even for verification.

I will not entertain SCB for future products if they call me.... They always called me for personal loans in which I did not entertain also before this application rejection since personal loan's interest is higher than cc BT.
*
The RM15k BT could be the main issue. I know how you feel. I was also rejected by MBB some 8 years ago. During that time, I had already worked for 2 years since graduated and had HLB Visa and Amex. I felt quite annoying when MBB rejected my application without giving me any reasons. After that I applied for DA and got the approval immediately. Until now I ignore MBB agents no matter how they approach me.

nope, din see credit or debit, just two Mastercard
no need to worry, if you have selected debit, it will prompt for PIN, just make sure you press cancel and don't key in
*
It should be no problem if you witness the transaction and tell the retailer to select cc function. However, some problems will occur if you dine at restaurant and use this card for payment. The retailer may think the transaction fails if he/she doesn't know how to operate it.

*
You are extremely discipline. However, it doesn't serve the purpose of having a cc which allows
you to purchase using "future money" first with interest free and to settle the debts of every month at once before the payment due date. Because of that, dc is more suitable for you instead of cc. tongue.gif

Eh...it looks like either you or me misunderstood each other. smile.gif

You asked whether it's a good practice to immediately pay off everything in the afternoon after you used your cc in the morning, and I just gave you my point of view.

Anyway, I didn't really get 100% what you wrote!

You are welcome! tongue.gif

You may only make the full payment upon receipt of statement. As you are such a dicipline person, I'm sure you always pay promptly. Keep it up!

Sure. You can pay even you haven't received cc statement. But not many people do that.

Your record will always be good as long as you settle full outstanding amout before payment due date, which is normally counted as 20 days from the statement date. It doesn't mean that you must pay before receiving the statement. You will get yourself more familiar with the concept once you receive the statements for a couple of months.

QUOTE(ellimist @ Jun 8 2009, 06:43 PM)
Hi all, should be going overseas soon (just nearby, probably Sg and Thailand). Was wondering, should I call up the customer service and notify them that I'm going overseas? Namely for the following cards:-

- Amex green charge card
- Citibank clear
- Direct Access
- HSBC

Was wondering if any of you know if any of the above cards would still allow me to swipe even if I don't call up the CS. Also, if any that you guys know for a fact that would block my transactions if I don't call them up.

Thanks!
*
Based on my experience, I encountered no problems using my cc if I didn't inform the banks while travelling abroad. Sometimes the banks did call me immediately to clarify soon after the transactions were done. However, for security purpose, it would be better to inform the respective banks first before you travel. By the way, you only need to bring along 1 master + 1 visa.

Yea, just thought I'd ask for the various card. But would only be using amex where accepted, and 1 master/visa at places where they don't take amex
*
I would advise not to use Amex in overseas, as the service charge/commission is much higer than others. You may earn lots of points from Amex while spending in overseas, but you would end up paying much more fee for that. Think twice!

I have no idea on how much you wanna spend in overseas, but you can actually request the bank to temporarily increase your CL prior to travelling abroad so that you don't need to bring along too many cards. 1 master + 1 visa will be sufficient enough. Enjoy!

Stop promoting balance transfer, cash advance, easy payment and minimum payment here! If you are not good paymasters, those things will cause your debts snowball rapidly, make you poorer and lure you to trap into financial trouble. In the end, banks will be the only winners and you will always be losers!!

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 10 2009, 07:34 PM)
Hi Dannyl, I have no idea on You:nique card cash rebate, in their website all it says is up to 2% and no other info.

For Alliance Visa Plat, the cash back is up to 2%. And if you spend more than RM5000, there is no futher cash rebate - can't understand this. Assuming you do have transactions up to RM10,000 during the statement period, you will only get cash back for transactions limited to RM5K which is something like RM68/month. So what I do is once I spend more than RM5K, I charge my transactions with AMEX and enjoy 3X rewards points. But last month the first RM5K was charged into my HSBC as they giving free samsonite bag.

And yes, Alliance rewards points have no expiry date so far.
*
I have been using Alliance Younique cc since end February’09. Monthly cash rebate for Plat (max RM68.75 or 1.375%) is higher than Younique (max RM68.25 or 1.365%) by a mere margin only. After I submitted my application for Younique, the bank also called to offer me a Plat cc, but I insisted applying for Younique because I wanted to have my favourite picture on the cc and the cash rebates for both Plat and Younique have no much difference. The cc looks cool as you feature your own picture. However, when I received the monthly statements together with promotion catalogues from Alliance, I noticed that reward points for retail purchases in overseas for Plat is x2 points compared to Younique (1 point).

Besides, as mentioned by other forummers too, it’s confirmed that Alliance doesn’t charge service fee for overseas transactions. Last month I used my Younique in Shanghai and no extra fee was charged, as opposed to my Citi which charged an additional 1%. I hope Alliance will continue with this policy.

Oh yeah…I’ve received an SMS saying my SCB Just1 acc has been approved. It’s time to enjoy the 2% cash rebate and temporarily put all my other cards in cold storage!

Envying you all can get SBC Just1 and enjoy the 2% cash rebate. They rejected me. KNS  cry.gif

Don’t worry. Getting SCB Titanium doesn’t mean I can fully enjoy the 2% cash rebate. I’m sure there are some stringent T&Cs attached to it. In addition, I have no experience with SCB before. It’s still premature to conclude the level of their service. Btw, I look forward to receiving the cc next week. tongue.gif

Good. So you are having spending spree today? smile.gif

Did you renew your car insurance and road tax using Myeg online? If your car insurance is only expiring next month, you may renew it after June 30, where you can enjoy a discount of up to 10% without going through an agent.

Does the 0% overseas transaction charge applies to the Ikea Friends Visa also ?
*
In principle, all Alliance cards should be given the 0% charge. You may need to call the CS for double confirmation.
