Hahaha ... changed your mind winner ? I thought you earlier said that Alliance is better.
I had around the same thought when I wrote coz I figure enjoy the benefit while you can and then keep the card in the freezer.  If all their customers did this than perhaps SCB would need to change their mind again.

*
I neither said Alliance was better, nor concluded SCB Titanium was worse. Based on forummer Shinichi’s requirements - (i) free for life, (ii) evergreen reward points and (iii) cash rebates, SCB Titanium fulfills no. (iii) only. I disagreed with you when you reckoned SCB was slightly better. SCB was out of the consideration by not accomplishing all the 3 criteria set by the forummer.

As for myself, cash rebate is always my main consideration. For a short-term period, SCB Titanium suits my requirement perfectly. Nevertheless, I do feel Alliance would fulfill my needs over the long term in view of the evergreen point system. Therefore, I may try to get a SCB card and utilise the 5% cash back benefit till the max rebates achieve.

Ahhh..~~~ My card is being use by somebody else and done a total 7transaction by using PAYPAL... Now my card is already cancel but i still need to wait 5working days to comfirm whether the bank did approve the transaction...

Im using Alliance bank You:Nique CC... Any experience this b4...???
*
It’s true. One of my banker friends working in Alliance told me that there have been increasing cc scams since last year, especially during the economic downturn. I was advised not to hold cards from too many banks. It would always be better if we cancel the cards that we seldom use.

Anyway ... these are some extra info that my RM provided about this card

- Need to maintain minimum balance of RM1K in the current acc. You will be subjected to a half yearly fee of RM50 if the balance falls below RM1K.
- Actually the card will use your account balance first and then if no money, it will use the credit facility.
Conflicting info from the CS contrary to most forummer reported ... YES! In fact, I called CS and they told me the same thing as well. Nevertheless the rebate is attractive enough - use it and then freeze the card!

*
What’s the point of having the cc? I thought we have a choice to use credit or debit whenever we make purchases? Please clarify this. Thanks.

The cashier should ask if you want to pay via Credit or via Debit. But the cashier must be trained to ask..else it's up to the Cashier to punch whatever he/she likes.
*
It's rather clueless to figure out how this card works. Better wait for those successful applicants to clarify our queries when they receive their 1st month statements.

Sorry, it should be 0.9% rebate. I was talking about Public Bank VISA Platinum but you will only get 0.9% rebate if you swipe AT LEAST RM100,000 and above for that month.
*
Ridiculous t&c!

CC is not their main focus of business. I hardly see their promotions and advertisements about cc. It obviously shows that they do not have any intention to increase their market share in the cc segment.

No credit card in Malaysia is giving 1% cash rebate. The rebate for credit card in Malaysia is between 0.3% - 0.7% only.
*
Eh shakehead.gif …when we talk about cash rebate of 1% or more for all types of purchases within an unlimited period, HLB Visa Ess gives 1% rebate; Alliance Younique offers up to 1.365% rebate or RM68.25 per month; SCB Titanium 2%-5% rebate up to a cap of RM600 per year.

Card that offer better cash back.

AMEX charge card, If you convert MR to cash back, it is equivalent to 1% cash back.

Alliance Back Hybrid Acc Debit Card , 1% for standard card, 1.5% for platinum card & 2% on premium card.

However both not credit card. Sorry for out of topic.
*
For the Hybrid Acc, It’s a debit card, which I am holding now. But I only use this card for ATM purpose, and I even rejected their check book facilities. I prefer using “future money” from cc instead. Minimum age requirement for this dc is 18 years.

Pretty neat, but perused through the t&c, so for those of u who are too lazy to read it :-

- You actually continue to earn points as usual on top of the rebate
- 10% wednesday, every other day 5%
- Limited to RM50 per month
- Further limited to a max pool of RM100,000. i.e Ambank as a whole will only payout RM100,000 rebates per month.
So if too many ppl sign up for this, well, you just get less =p

It's ok if not too many ppl are rushing for this though. Not too sure what's the figure like on total AmBank users
*
I don’t like the condition of a max pool in particular. The RM100k quota can easily finish within the 1st few days of each month if people use their cc for purchase of air tickets.

well citibank juz called me regarding my cc application ... its on the way to my office  tongue.gif

so now i normally use everything except petrol on my hsbc amanah plat .... so is this citibank plat worth to focus on more?

amanah rebate 0.5% local , 1% overseas

citibank evergreen pts , 2x overseas

hmm.gif  focus on which????
*
I also own Citi Plat. I used to use this cc whenever I travelled abroad last year to collect x2 timeless reward points. Since I obtained other cc offering cash back, now I only use Citi Plat to purchase air tickets for broader travel insurance coverage, spend at Parkson and Jusco for x5 points, and dine at my regular entertainment outlet like Modestos for 50% discount. Other than all these, I just concentrate using other cc with cash rebate promotion. With so many banks giving cash back, anything less than 1% rebate seems not attractive to me now. wink.gif

I think it'll take a few more dozen of years till we can buy air tickets from hypermarket. But I might be wrong  blush.gif
*
If the rebates are only limited to purchase of specific products, then it is not attractive even though you may get the max RM50 rebate by only spending RM500 per month, provided the quota is still available.

back to scb justone cc:
1) the justone current account does not require a minimum balance and has no service fee

SCB finally release a new fees and charges pdf for JustOne
*
Oh.. rolleyes.gif non-requirement for a min balance sounds great. Btw, I didn't see any notice about monthly/yearly service/admin fee for the maintenance of current acc in the link.

Has anybody here already obtained SCB Titanium cc? Please advise on how a retail transaction works (credit/debit), based on your PERSONAL experience.

Another inquiry. Can the cardholders just hold the current acc without issuance of cheque books (not paying stamp duty/fee for cheque book)?

From the info provided, the current acc will become dormant if there is no transaction in 1 year. Can the Titanium cc still be used if the cardholders only use the cc but have no transaction in the current acc for 1 year? rclxub.gif

Well ... finally the official T&C is out from the bank. Probably they received a lot of feedback concerning the lack of information concerning this product. OK ... let me try to add on based on what I know as well.

- Fee for current acct maintenance is not there but you definately need to keep some inflows and outflows in your account within a 12 month span. Otherwise they will deemed as dormant ... whether this will affect the status of the JustOne is still unclear.
- Cheque book are mandatory items although you don't put in any money. The RM2.75 will be charged to your cc account instead.
- If you have money in your account, spendings will be deducted from here and then the card will function as a credit card.

If you ask me, just put in some money before the 12 months is up. At least you will avoid your account to be dormant. I suspect the card is actually a credit card with debit card like facilities.

I'll be signing up soon for this card and let you guys know of the feedback later. Unless someone beat me to it.
*
Thanks for the explanation. Looking forward to your feedback on the credit/debit issue when doing retail transaction. smile.gif

Do you mean that dc will take effect 1st if there is a balance in the current acc? If this is the case, why should we deposit money into the current acc as most of us prefer cc function for retail purchase?

I saw an Guardian together with Public Bank advertisement in the star.

Now  Public Bank offering quite attractive cash rebate,

8% cash rebate until 31 August 2009 on all transaction & no minimum transaction.
Need to swipe minimum of 8 times per month to qualify.
Need to SMS
Maximum RM50 rebate per month
Additional 2% rebate on purchase at Guardian
Maximum RM20 rebate per month for purchase at Guardian
*
Finally the sleeping giant awakes? Good news for their existing customers. However, the promo period is too short for a new customer to consider applying for a PBB cc.

Requirement for Platinum is RM80k p/annum whereas Gold is RM36k p/annum.

If I am not mistaken, HSBC Plat requires the highest income eligibility (RM150k per annum) among all platinum cards in Malaysia.

I'd rather go for CIMB DA Mastercard which gives 2% all the time, every petrol brand. Plus the card is free for life.
or
RHB TravelMoney - 5% on the first weekend, and 2% on any other day, every petrol brand too.

Maybank Petronas card is good for points only. I'm not sure if you can use Bonuslink card at the station if u use this card...

pls read the terms and conditions before recommending a card.
*
You can’t accumulate Bonuslink points at Petronas. Petronas has its own Mesra card. Points required for gift redemption in Mesra are lower than Bonuslink. You can accumulate both MBB cc and Mesra points at Petronas. Among all the petrol stations, only Shell affiliates with Bonuslink.

In terms of cash rebate for all purchases + reward points + unlimited promotion period, Alliance and SCB Titanium, in my opinion, could be a better choice at this point in time.

Maybank staff did approach me for the card. But I didn't apply as I really don't need so many cards. Anyhow, I was informed I need to charge the card for at least RM50 within the 1st month upon receipt of the card in order to be given the free laptop bag. Btw, what's the brand of the bag???

I look forward to CIMB promotion giving away free travelling luggage for newly approved Plat card. brows.gif

Why don't you pay your utility bills (except water) by direct debit from your cc? It will not only ensure timely payments, but also give you some rebates (such as telecommunication).

Direct Debit is good provided that you're having the card for long. If you're not planning to do so, it'll be hassle to cancel the Auto Debit facility.
*
You do nothing wrong if you keep changing your cc no. I have been doing this for years just to hit target and accumulate reward points within a specific period. By doing auto debit, I am being given rebates for both h/p and house phone bills. I was surprised as I was selected by TM and given a free modern phone. smile.gif

It's so hassle-free without remembering all the due dates...Astro, TNB, TM, Broadband, h/p, insurance, just to name a few. More importantly, I am able to earn reward points!

As you don't subscribe autopay, are you sure the rebates come from TM? Or it's your UOB who gives you rebates? But it sounds unordinary either. Btw, what's the amount of the rebate you receive on monthly basis?

Santaclaus, better wait till you receive SCB Titanium. Then you can cancel SCB Plat. If you hold both SCB cards, the CL is combined.

I got my Citi Plat AF waived for 2nd year. The reward points are everlasting anyway.

It has to be 24 swipes of any amount per year, if I am not mistaken. Anyway, it's more a lifestyle card for me. Unfortunately, it does not give cash back.

The US bank you mentioned in particular has lost much of its bussines in deposit segment, following the Lehman Brothers incident. Their cc business, on the other hand, still remains marvellous.
