which one is better SCB Just One with max rebate RM600 per year(5% cash back)  or other card with only 0.5% cash back without max rebate in whole year for any transaction?
*
Over the short-term, SCB Just1 is good. Once you have hit the RM600 limit, you can switch to other cc with cash rebates.

I have received SCB Just1 Titanium this late afternoon. I never expected SCB sent me the cc so fast, as I only received their SMS yesterday. I received 2 surprises when I opened the envelope. First surprise, the card looks simple but nice (little bit like World cc). Second surprise, the approved CL is 104% higher than my existing HLB and Citi Plat, and 325% higher than my Alliance!!! SCB is very generous in giving a high CL. Since today is Friday, I swiped the card at Petronas (full tank) and Modestos (happy hours). biggrin.gif

I am wondering whether SCB will change their terms after knowing many ppl do this way. In this way, can they earn?
*
The main source of income for banks is INTEREST. By giving you cash rebates and promotions, some people tend to spend more but not afford to make the full payment. SCB can always make $$$ from the interest charged for BT, outstanding balance, easy payment and cash advance, as well as late payment charges. Banks will always be the winners.

Hi..anyone here apply for citibank-giant Cc? Got promotion to buy hp mini laptop for rm899 only..instalment for 12 mth..is it a good deal n really worth it?
*
It is just a laptop with basic features. You may need to upgrade quite a bit for better efficiency. It would be better to do a market survey first before you purchase it.

Yes, that what their CS told me too but remember that each supp card you need to spend RM7k per year to avoid paying AF.
*
When I received the Just1 card, I did not see the small long-shaped T&Cs booklet normally attached to a new cc. Only some brochures and a guide book are attached, but detailed T&Cs are not indicated in the guide book. Besides that, I can’t find a notice mentioning the participating petrol stations for cash rebate in the guide book and all the brochures in the envelope. Perhaps SCB has removed the notice to avoid confusion?

isn't the 2% and 5% rebate available for any purchases regardless of participating partners ?
*
According to some forummers here, Shell is not included. But I haven't tried at Shell yet.

QUOTE(GHz @ Jun 13 2009, 05:49 PM)
No necessary. It can be by normal post but the card need to be activated.
*
Were you referring to CIMB/DA? I remember DA sent me a pre-approved Mastercard which I never applied for via normal mail. As for other banks I dealt before such as MBB, HLB, Citi, Alliance and SCB, all of them sent me CCs via Poslaju.

Just to give an update. My attempt at using SCB Just1 to make payment at a restaurant in KLCC failed this afternoon. While giving my cc to the waiter, I kept reminding him to select credit function. As I was in a hurry to go to other place, I ended up using my Alliance to settle the bill. It looks like most retailers are inexperienced and not trained to handle this cc.

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Jun 14 2009, 12:48 AM)
they will send classic card using snail mail , gold & plat using courier ....
*
That sounds a bit discriminating. smile.gif
Why is there a double standard against classic cardholders? Anyway, since I started using CCs 10 years ago, all my CCs were sent to me via courier service, the only exception being a pre-approved cc from DA.

u will regret if u get DA..any bank also is more recognised compare to DA...u dont wanna cashier ask u"this card can be used ah?" lol
*
DA recognition issue has been being discussed over and over again. I admit that I did encounter the problem twice or thrice, having possessed the cc for 7-8 years before I terminated it early this year. Although recognition issue may occur depending on your luck while dealing with different retailers, DA is the easiet entry level for a fresh graduate to own a cc.

I am of the opinion that CIMB brand can now stand alone without using DA trademark. Should this turns into a reality in future, DA will become a history. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Michael_G @ Jun 15 2009, 01:19 AM)
okie thanks. but Direct Access meaning? and wat is the pros and cons for this card? urm so <RM1.5k cannot apply CC?if ngam ngam RM1.5k? im really a noob for CC need some advise from u all SIFU..  tongue.gif
*
While sending your application to DA or CIMB, you may try your luck and apply for Alliance Younique. The entry level is as low as DA. On the plus side, your retail purchases can automatically reward you with 0.5%-1.365% cash rebate, on top of that timeless reward points are also given. However, you need to swipe the cc for at least 12 times in order to get the annual fee waived automatically.

p/s: I am not working with Alliance, I am not attached to any financial intitutions and I am not in finance field either.

It's 0.5%-1.365% rebate, subject to a max cash back of RM68.25 per month.

To enjoy waiver for AF, the cc needs to be swiped for a minimum 12 times of any amount per year.

Was at Petronas early this month as wanted to get Transformer T-Shirt and Cap for son and a sales girl approach me to apply for Maybank Petronas. The sales girl asked for "help" as it was already close to 7pm and she said she had no customer, so me being easily con filled in the application form. Today got the Maybank Petronas Visa Card via Post Laju. I guess since Maybank took over Amex, they would have my personal info and such I got the Visa from them so easily.

I'm glad to hear that MBB has improved their service. They have been well-known for their inefficiency in processing cc application.

meaning that if in a month i spend RM200 and if i get 0.5% rebate im getting RM1 rebate in this month?
AF meaning?
urm if i swipe the CC in petrol station counted or not? if i only swipe RM10 petrol every month le? Lol. so at the end of the year i wil get 12swiped =X and wat if i only swipe it 11times? LOLx. too many question to ask =X blush.gif
*
Cash rebate is applicable to all retail transactions, including purchases at petrol stations. If you spend RM10 per month only, your cash rebate @0.5% is 5 cents.

If you swipe the card <12 times per year, AF will be imposed. But you can ask for waiver, subject to approval from the bank. Please browse through the whole CC Thread for your knowledge.

AF = annual fee

ok cool that for reply. then how bout those interest rate? late payment and wat other charges in CC? normally AF how much?  hmm.gif
*
If you ask me about the interest rate charged by cc, I am afraid I am not the suitable person to give you the answer! I may sound a bit offensive to others but this is my sincere advice. smile.gif If you have the intention not to make full payment for the outstanding balance of your cc in the first place, please do not own a cc. Do not develop such a bad habit, especially something related to cc debts. That’s why I NEVER bother about interest rate given by any cc issuers for cash advance, outstanding balance, balance transfer and easy payment scheme. Btw, Alliance Younique provides 0% free interest for the 1st 3 months.

As for the AF, Alliance Younique is giving waiver for the 1st 3 years if you apply for the card before end of July’09. Should you swipe the cc less than 12 times in the 4th year, the AF will be RM148. You can request for AF waiver, but banks always have the final say.

You just have to fully settle your cc debt and your application can be approved then. tongue.gif

RM60k to spend @ Giant is indeed quite a bit but well, perhaps she changed all her electrical items?! On groceries alone it might not be so possible but with the many items Giant sells, it's not 100% impossible! tongue.gif
*
60k spent in Giant within a few months? I wonder what the most expensive stuff in Giant is. Besides purchasing electrical and furniture items, she's probably involved in F&B business which requires her to buy in bulk on a very frequent basis.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jun 18 2009, 03:02 PM)
Then it's just better to get the Standard Chartered JustOne, since it's 2% rebate for all retail purchases and you need not limit your shopping at Giant biggrin.gif
*
Please note that max cash rebate of SCB Just1 is capped at RM600 per year.

I tried to use this cc at both Shell counter and self-service terminal, but it failed. It has been confirmed that Shell doesn't recognise this cc for the time being.

SCB JustOne update:

Successfully swipe at Shell at the cashier counter - have to ask the cashier to pass me the machine as i cannot see clearly, conclusion is need to press the Green enter button

will see next week whether swipe manually like this has rebate or not
*
It sounds great. Finally some Shell stations accept this cc. I've just pumped full tank at Petronas and purchased groceries for the whole week as I don't wanna miss the 5% rebate on Friday! biggrin.gif
