just went to outdoor centre in jln ampang around 5.15pm to only find it closed sad.gif
base on website its open till 6.30pm..........i even tried calling on my way there but no one answered sad.gif
thought they were bz with customers so..hmm..
okay, coleman sounds ok...damange 200++ is for a coleman or for the ultralight ones  sweat.gif

among other features i find useful is a tent with a ventilation on top/can open/close....saw some vid on youtube  blush.gif

Ultra light normally would be around RM1.2k. Coleman got few type of tents - personal preferance Sundome type 3 men tent. Weight not more than 2.5kg if not mistaken. Nowadays I am using fly, and ground. Paiseh paiseh.

Like what Boon stated in the earlier post - those are the place where you can get good hiking stuff. If you love Karrimor brand, head to Jusco 1 Utama. Forget their shop name but remember it is located at Subang Jaya.

You can find them at UFL, Bangsar or Mid Valley's Jusco hiking section if you are from Kuala Lumpur.

may - Janda Baik  brows.gif

sorry all for beginners like me  blush.gif

Lata Perting got a campsite right beside the waterfall, but as I warned earlier please be careful when playing at that waterfall due to strong underwater current. You will need to cross the first river before jungle trek about 30-45 minutes before reaching a slope which head down. Once you reach the slope bottom, you will be able to see the waterfall on the left and you will need to cross for the second time to reach the campsite. Camp at the higher ground and not the lower. Can pitch quite a number of tents and hammocks.

Janda Baik - You can do Lata Chemperoh when you are on your way up to Gunung Nuang - if you intended to do. If to the waterfall, it will took you only 1.5-2 hours. Trek are quite muddy and infested with leeches. Carpark space are quite limited near to the first river bank crossing.

Lata Naning can be reachable expecially for normal waterfall visitors. It is just the matter you can get used to long distance trekking. Lata Naning got two falls (I am referring to 50 - 100m height only).

Lata Medang also the same. Located at Kampung Pertak, KKB and got two falls. One you can enjoy the pool and the other you can't. One thing for sure, Lata Medang would be a great place to take photography if you are into one. Be aware that the route heading to Medang might have lots of snake sad.gif and durian smile.gif

Thanks for your help I have done it,

Here is the GPS data for the hike,
http://www.trainingpeaks.com/sw/ETN7OBTBT7BEVNCHBCXMLUYPPM

It's really difficult and as kids, uncles, auntie pass by me like nothing, I am the last person from start. I think i need to shred a lot of weight to be good. Also spoiled my newly bought VFF for this.. heart broken now T_T..

But have a great experience of knowing what a climbathon is, also Gunung Datuk is a good training spot, straight ascending to near 900m too me 1:15 to do that = ="

*
Vibram Five spoilt? I just wonder how did you do that unsure.gif .

I've not been to those mountains yet lol.. Will give it a go! Thanks biggrin.gif

Ehhh did some google and it wrote this

"Gunung Rembau atau Gunung Datuk merupakan sebuah gunung yang terdapat di Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Malaysia. Gunung Rembau mempunyai ketinggian setinggi 884 meter."

Kan sama? Lol
*
Gunung Rembau and Gagak is quite a distance apart from Datuk. No clear indication on the routes but there is a circuit that happened there every year. I believe you know that Datuk do not have leeches but Gagak, hoho get ready with your baygon and mossi guard.

Oh.
Earlier on we been to Broga, Saga, Gasing, those... hills..
This is the first time we take on Nuang, urm, I guess because it's near.
Personally I don't feel it's that challenging, just that the hour involve is longer, still the same routine, one step at a time.
*
You can try the easier hiking trail around KL
* Bukit Tabur - East, West, and Extreme
* Bukit Bintang - not the KL shopping area
* Bukit Rasa - near Bukit Beruntung
* Bukit Ampang - near the Selangor Royal golf course
* Bukit Kutu - near KKB and Sg Chiling
* Bukit Lembing aka Bukit Panorama - Sungai Lembin, Kuantan
* etc

I'm not sure. I never been to.
But from what I heard & Google, it's hard.
*
Bukit Tabur got three Tabur - Tabur West (entry from Klang Gate Dam), Tabur East (entry from the water pipes behind of Klang Gate Dam), and Tabur Extreme (somewhere near Kemensah).

Most people know how to go to Tabur West and East.

As KL do not have lots of hill to hike, lots of beginner attempt to scale this granite range after Broga and Saga biggrin.gif

any place for non-experience? me and my friends plan for our first time camping.. but we have no idea on locations.. is there any safe and easy place to camp?
*
First time camping? Gunung Nuang first campsite is an ideal place for first time. Trek in 2 hours and Kem Lolo got water source for your cooking. Could be pack during Saturday. Not camp at the peak ya.

You could try camp at Sungai Chiling but there is a cost where you need to pay for entrance fee. Parking are provided nearby too. You could venture to Sungai Chiling waterfall but do careful with river crossing number 5 or 6. Could be deep and fast if rain.

Gunung Irau basecamp is another good place for beginners. The camp site is actually the car park for the hikers who wishes to hike Gunung Irau. Pretty flat terrain but people camp just because for the weather.

Too many place to think off biggrin.gif

any guide wanna bring guide me up gunung rajah coming sunday?
please state cost as well hehe smile.gif

OR

anyone going up gunung nuang coming sunday?
*
Gunung Rajah you do not need guide. Park at Chamang waterfall and from the parking, there is a route on your right hand side which climb up hill. Climb up a lil while and you will come across the dirt route which will take you to Lata Naning (mid point to Gunung Rajah). The only confusing part is during the river trek but should be well marked.

Wish to follow you for Gunung Nuang although it is been a while since I last hike but better opt to rest my legs for KOTR 2013. Cheers.

Guys..mind sharing with me qhere can i buy waterproof jacket suitable for tropical climate i supposed ..lightweight..for women and men.. affordable price ..planning to jungle wak from limbang to mulu.. then on trail sapa vietnam pribably themountain indochina.. n mount kk.. i mean.. ithanks.. online or actuak shop can do
*
Waterproof and lightweight - sounds expensive thou. Not windproof? Kinabalu might not be sufficient thou.

Go for a GORE-TEX type. There a few type of category and best place to look for them - hmm Lafuma at Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar.

If you need other brands, perhaps you could tell me what you like and I advice you from there.
