Wow, quite expensive.  sweat.gif  But since it come with the tarp, should be ok the price.

It is double layer ? Waterproof ?

The hammock don't have the side pocket for inner side hammock?

Can the diamond shape tarp prevent rain from both end enter ? I always have doubt about the diamond shape tarp. Cause the end both side is the most expose.

Single layer but thicker than those sold locally by Kampung Traveller, etc. Doubt that its waterproof. Water resistant maybe.

Tarp AND the snakeskin biggrin.gif locally the snakeskin sells for Rm110

The 3 person what went camping with me under the heaviest using this swears taht they slept dry and soundly throughout the night so..... yeah. Its enough.

Some guys in hammockforum mentions that if using it in jungles with lots of overhead tree coverage heavy rain is not an issue. Only when the diamond tarp is used in clear area without trees overhead and strong wind there might be some splashes.

Include postage its Rm827. Postage alone Rm177. Can't complain much coz it arrived less than 2 weeks from halfway around the globe across Altantic ocean, Europe and Asia continent.

How the whole setup looks like. All in 1 system. Tarp, bugnet hammock, suspension. This not mine. Borrowed the same one from my friend and immediately got hooked. Thick oxford nylon hammock body gives a more "secure" feel than the china made parachute hammock.

Structural ridgeline & ridgeline organizer makes it easier to hang and.... organize stuff during camping trips. Stuff like spectacles (zero risk of getting crushed by your won body when sleeping), lanterns, socks, dry clothes, water bottles, whatever you can think off.

Also the holes on the bugnet is really small. Smaller than the usual white colour kelambu that we buy off the shelf.

And lastly, don't forget the snakeskin. 2 piece of waterproof PU coated polyester cloth sewn to form a tube. When its time to pack up and leave you'll say "why the f are you guys so slow" to the rest of your team with an evil smirk.l

Bought it from ebay and the seller only charge me original price + shipment of USD44.

Not that I know of. Pass customs smoothly and no indication whatsoever of tax being paid.

My hammock don't come with a tarp. The original tarp is too expensive. So I brought it from china. Normal square tarp. Big size 4x3. Experience with rain and good enough to protect the hammock. And the bag below the tarp.

I doubt the diamond tarp enough shade and if I want to cook something below if rain.

Yes you are right. Its only meant for covering the hammock while you sleep. (Lower cost/lighter weight argument there)

Other than chilling on your hammock or sleeping, your on your own. biggrin.gif

RM800++ now??
I had it for 500~600...can't remember exact - was probably 6 years back.

The only issue with Expedition is the tarp. The Tarp is kinda compact and not big enough with just enough coverage for the hammock. Imagine raining and you come out of your hammock and wants to change.... or the other way round, want to change and get into your hammock for a nice sleep. So either buy the Hex tarp or bring another tarp.

The other short coming is the coldness (since it is not windproof from the bottom) .... so have to wear fleece to sleep to have warmth. Newer version comes with pouch for insulation.

800++ is considered cheap already in malaysia. Some local reseller goes as high as 1000 without snakeskin.

Yeah the tarp is only for coverage during sleeping time. Next upgrade would be the hex tarp.

As for coldness, for me its already an upgrade coz the hammock body is made of oxford nylon, which is much thicker than the cheap tafetta/parachute nylon that I used previously so a sleeping bag+ fleece night wear is sufficient.

I got mine from an online store in Penang for RM50-60 a few years ago. It has been working well for me whenever I go jungle camping. The only drawback is the weight.

does anyone interest join a day trip jungle trekking at Cameron Highland Gunung Irau, Mossy forest?

we need to get a guide, but minimum 4 person (we have only 2 here).

date is 16/10 (sunday)
time taken : around 6-7 hours
morning start 8am - 8.30am.
( To and Fro / Up and Down )

price stated at this website, i just copy and paste info only.
http://cameronservice.blogspot.my/2015/03/...mount-irau.html

Price : RM 90.00 / Person ( without Transport )
RM 110.00 / Person ( with Transport )
( Our guest will be fetched from Accommodation. )
Note : Food Not Included
Minimum 4 person

OUR HIGHLIGHT :
The journey start from the town called Tanah Rata / Brinchang , Cameron Highlands. It’s takes about 30 minute to mountain side called Gunung / Mountain Brinchang - 2031 meter by driving to Mount Brinchang by Land Rover Defender / 4WD - 8 person seater. From there trekking activity begin, it take about 3 ~ 4 hours (3 km) normal walk by our nature guide to reach Mount Irau (2110m). The trekking will be very Interesting, Challenging & Adventure due to its muddy path all the way to the pick.

Cameron Highlands - the high altitude and cool air really make exploration interesting and fun;
Believe me, you won't really sweat & thirst much.. ; and the best thing is very minimal insect , mosquitoes & leech bites :-)

Please be Prepared with :-
a. Good walking shoes ( rubber boots is recommended )
b. Rain coat
c. Proper clothing - Long Sleeves shirt
- Long pants
- Cap / Hat
d. Insects repellent & Glove
e. Snack & Drinks
f. Extra clothing & Hand-towel.
