I damn sked the single leg squat, the one where you put one leg behind on a bench.
Sked that if I lose balance, the knee is going to get twisted real bad. Phobia... phobia...

ntdote,
I guess a different emphasis when you did your pullovers. Sometimes I feel it in the chest, sometimes in the lats. I think it's a pretty good exercise.

Yup, Jon. It's the bulgarian split squat.

Desvaro,
50kg on the pistol?! Not possible... for now.
Full ROM for the bulgarian splits means your front foot is on a platform and your back knee goes damn low?
How far do you stand from the bench?

Just did the Bulgarian split squat with 34kg for 5 rabbit reps. X^D
Bulgarian split squats for make benefit glorious DOMS of glute muscles! <---tribute to Borat.

I could churn out 15 pistols when I was lazy to go to the gym. Baru half a year tak buat... and I'm able to squeeze out 5-6 (plus lots of grunting) at most.
Anyway I weigh like a rabbit, easier for me to do it.

Jon,
Kettlebell/dumbbell pistols maybe can lah. Barbell pistols? How to balance the bar? It's so long wei!
I go try tomorrow and see! Woahahahahah!
Please nominate me for the Darwin awards. Woohoohoo HoOOOO!

Dan,
I think the bar should be in front like front squats, not on the back. Unless you intend to hold the bar like a Wesley Snipes' sword in Blade Trinity.
Next day you know, some BB forum will start posting your photos for the Darwin award. X^D

Not raw eggs. Heated or half/quarter boiled.

Don't try that crazy mix anyway. It's puke inducing.
Mix and match to your taste.

What's with the weight gainers?!
Just mix it yourself lah. It's wayyyyyyy more cost efficient.

Mix whey in cold water first. After it has been mixed well, add in hot water + whatever you want lah. No more clumps.

Eh, Jamis...
Why not eggs and multivit?

Form cross links and turn into jello.

The protein is still there. Your stomach acids denature it further into strands, and enzyme will do their work. No problem, except that it's yucky.

Unless you manage to get hold of an industrial broiler & use super heated steam 400-500 deg celcius. That'll probably disintergrate the amino acids. X^D

For Pete's sake, why don't you guys just listen to a food scientist for once?! doh.gif
Do you guys even know what does "denature" means? Only braindead got it right. Denatured protein can coagulate, form crosslinks, becomes gelation, etc...

Unless you super heat the protein at very high temperature, OR you char/carbonise the protein... the amino acids are still intact.

I'll give you guys an analogy:
Unfolding a large map but unable to fold it back to ori configurations. The map is still useful even if it's folded wrongly, right?

Replace the word "map" with "protein" and it's the same thing...

because proteins are very long chains/sheets of amino acids that are folded here and there and cross linked & bonded here and there.

Heat, pressure, enzymes, catalysts, acids can weaken these bonds ---> once weakened, the protein strings/sheets will unfold.

The problem is, the proteins cannot fold themselves back into ori configurations because it's a very complicated biological process. So they just cincai bundle back together.

Will this denatured form make it hard for your stomach to digest? Yes and no. Depends.
However, remember than acids will denature it? You stomach acid (which is damn powerful) will denature/unfold it again, so that enzyme can digest them.

The problem with over cooking the proteins is that precious vitamins might be lost.
Else, it's basically the same thing in a different look.

P.S. how come no one make noise about eating their meat/chicken RAW?!

P.S.S Old-skool BB'ers didn't know about protein denaturation... yet. You don't see any BB'ers advocating raw eggs nowadays, don't you? =)

[...]Yes, eating your eggs raw will ensure that you get 100% of the nutrients from the egg.

Yes, half boiling or cooking your eggs may result in some loss of protein. [...]

Errr... you missed the point I just pointed out above:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=26925815
(No one seems to read in this forum sad.gif Too much testosterone surging around, I guess.)

Cooking/heating eggs/whey (or any protein) will not cause the loss of protein. (Unless you burn it kau-kau until hangus)

It might, however, cause the loss of vitamins <--- depending on time and temperature of cooking.

Oh.
That's the first time I've heard about it.
I did dumbbell upright row almost daily for a year, during my noobie days. Never had a single problem.
Dumbbells instead of barbells, makes all the difference.

Butt squeezing... I didn't know about it last time.
Then I sort of stumbled upon it while military pressing one day. I could suddenly lift heavier and I'm more stable and my back doesn't over arch. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(bagata @ Jul 1 2009, 04:18 PM)
ic, never did barbell too, but tot dumbbells oso give the same rotating effect... so its safe for dumbbell huh? den i'l add it back to my routine, cz it is kinda fun to do that

Different people different flexibility, I guess.
Like some people live to 90 while smoking and drinking everyday.

I do 1 side, then switch sides. And I don't grip the DB tight. I let the DB hook in my fingers, that way... I don't aggravate my wrists. Just be careful lah. I've stopped doing upright rows nowadays because I forgot about it. tongue.gif

You go buy whey, then buy casein... might as well just drink skimmed milk. LOL!

You need to drink 3.5 glasses of milk to match the casein content in 1 scoop of ON Casein. That's a lot of calories, water, and lactose for your body to deal with before sleep. Give me cottage cheese anytime (especially with blackberries mixed in). Failing which, casein supplement.

Actually, more like 1 litre of milk (about 4 glasses)
That's the difference between food and supplements. =)

Celion,
pain or soreness?

QUOTE(JonYeap @ Jul 2 2009, 04:30 PM)
i am suffering from back pain as well.
lower back.
due to deadlifts.
but it aint gonna stop me
the pain hasnt gone away the slightest bit since 3 days ago.
hopefully by next week it will be gone.
i cant even sleep coz its painful when i lie flat
*
Dude, if it's soreness... then it's ok to work through it.
If it's pain/aches... please don't go crazy and work through it. Rest, or work other parts.
You only have 1 spine. Don't throw it away.

You know, the gym I go to uses bicycle tire [inner] tubes as grip enhancers/pads.
Thin, cheap and very effective. 1 tube could be cut into 3-4 pairs of pads. I was wondering where did the pads came from for months until my bike went pancit. LOL.

The thumb of a professional is always better mah.

Perhaps I should try some Chinese massage here.
Pizzaboy, remember what your coach said about the hair saloon parlours in Wenzhou?

Sudden increase in blood pressure due to exertion.

Drink more water all the time, and go do a medical check ASAP.

You don't want to get a stroke halfway through squatting.

Squatting bodyweight is tough for a skinny ba$tard.
It took me half a year to get there. Which is a mere 50kg.
