Errr... no reasons given.
I like the gym lady, and have lots of respect for her. And she treats me very well with discounts and freebies, so I don't feel nice arguing with her.

Like I said, it didn't make sense to me. Maybe I go do an experiment with her next time.
I'll thrash my triceps with kickbacks and what nots, and do Chin ups. Then I'll thrash the biceps with curls. And try the chin ups again. LOL! Maybe then she'll believe me. If not, perhaps I can add an inch to my arms?
-----
Anyway, that's not the main point.

How about #1 and #2?
Does it make sense to you guys?

I believe she MIGHT have a point about "no protein immediate after bed". Eating high protein can cause some mucus build-up along the esophagus (and perhaps all the way to the small intestine). [well this is purely anecdotal, because it happens when I drink milk or whey, I can feel it in my throat]

Could this be a cause for concern?

QUOTE(Neek @ Aug 11 2009, 01:28 PM)
As for #3. you guys triceps dun feel tired after doing pullups?
well, i wont say it "work the triceps instead of biceps". but both my triceps and biceps are shot when i do pullups.
so i can understand what your gym owner is trying to say.
i don't really inderstand it myself... doing a pulling movement but my triceps seems to be under strain aswell...

not sure how much this applies to chinups instead.
This means the arm thrashing experiment is on!

Never felt anything. I don't even feel my biceps working much during pull ups. The chin ups, yes I feel the biceps working.
However, I did notice that after doing dips (which fried the triceps), I just can't seem to do as many pull ups as usual.

But I'm weigh like a rabbit, what do I know? =P

He's having his revenge on you for not cooking eggs for him! And also the sour grape syndrome. LOL!
How about staring at him with the Heath-Ledger-Joker look or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson look, flex your biceps, and say: "Are you sure? Wanna try out my non-functional strength? Nyek nyek nyek". Then give a big wide Joker grin, like this --> brows.gif

Eh, wow! Your full body split requires quite a lot of sets leh!
Normally when it's done high frequency (everyday), there's no need to go so many sets (unless you eat and recover like crazy). How long is one session?

Florian,
A bit too long for a high frequency stuff (considering that it's a full body workout)... don't you think?

Shouldn't it be like 30-45 minutes? You're training full body for 6 days a week leh...
Try it out for a few week and see how.

Eric Cressey's stuff in T-Nation.

Alcohol kills soft tissue quality.

Back in the spring, I had lunch with a buddy of mine who is a manual therapist for a major league team. He told me that just by working on one of his athletes' tissues, he could tell that they had been out drinking the night before, describing the tissue as "boggy." So, right when I got home, I hopped on Pubmed to investigate further and came across this:

"The development of alcoholic muscle disease, which affects both cardiac and skeletal muscle, leads to increased morbidity and mortality in patients who abuse alcohol. The disease pathology includes myocyte degeneration, loss of striations, and myofilament dissolution, which is consistent with alterations in structural and myofibrillar proteins" (1).

Now, it's been a while since my muscle physiology courses back in graduate school, but I can still say with almost certainty that these effects can be acute and not just chronic. All in all, alcohol isn't great for tissues, but I'd call it especially problematic for those who are trying to bounce back from injuries.

This becomes especially problematic when you're also suppressing the Testosterone levels on which you're counting to help maintain muscle mass while on the shelf. Add in that alcohol consumption interferes with sleep quality, and you'll quickly realize that growth hormone output won't be optimal (sleep is an extremely important time for growth hormone, which is very important in strengthening connective tissues).

Pizzaboy,
I didn't know there's actually supplementation for hydrochloric acid. I though HCL was a typo by you. (just being a scientific anal, it's HCl with a small "L", BTW tongue.gif )

How is it working for you, the HCl?

And where to get those multivits so cheap?

Kotmj,
Nice satire on Budak84.

Is HCl available OTC in pharmacies?
And what to look out for, when buying HCL?

Fructose nduces a lesser insulin response.
HFCS is not exactly high fructose. It's actually a form of bastardised liquid sugar. (I may have over-dramatised it a bit, LOL!)

Time magazine August 17th issue:
Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin

Holy schmoly! The whole thing talked about losing weight and nothing about body fat percentage.
I'm beginning to think it's a conspiracy to let people become fat and diabetic by the pharmaceutical companies. LOL!

QUOTE(Desvaro @ Aug 29 2009, 02:59 PM)
As a football player who plays league matches weekly, I've had more than my fair share of ankle 'injuries' if you want to call it that.

If you can walk properly without much of a limp, then you most probably can squat and deadlift. If it is rather painful, then obviously it's out of the question.

HOWEVER, do not do bulgarian split squats while having ankle injuries. Because you only have one leg on the ground, there is a significant demand to balance yourself. An injured ankle almost always means that your balance (the proper word would be PROPRIOCEPTION) is screwed.

Try balancing yourself on your right leg, then your left, you'll notice a significant difference.

Long story short - if its nothing serious - squat and deadlift yes. If serious, then no. But whatever it is, no bulgarian split squat for you definitely.
Thanks man!
I just noticed my ankle on the outside is swollen. And I can't bend my shin towards my feet, and squats is impossible with this pain. My shin would have to be almost verticle, can only do deadlift.

Any treatments/rehab/massage/Chinese thingamagick to help speed up recovery? Is there any long term effect from sprains if I just let it be?
(you know lah, those old-wives-tale about arthritis in old age and what not.)

QUOTE(-Dan @ Aug 29 2009, 02:38 PM)
Are you sure you really sprained it? =O The last time I sprained my ankle it swole up and I couldn't even put that foot on the ground without feeling pain.

Not as serious as yours lah. But I'm limping just a wee bit.
