Good one, Cool-iced.
Couldn't agree more.

i have yet to try a belt...
with belt, is it possible to go heavier?
if yes, then it will be a real good news for me then... haha
*
No, the point is abdominal pressure, and tightness+stability of your mis-section (abs, side, back).

The belt can help increase the tightness. But if your mid section is strong... then you can keep going heavier without a belt. Big 'IF' there.

JonYeap is being humble only.

He might not be ripped, but he's quite big... and strong.
Ridiculously strong for someone who just started training.

Damn, I think today was the best leg day I've ever had. laugh.gif

My legs are numb now. sweat.gif Football in school, a ton of running obviously. Hit probably every part of the legs in the gym too. Squats, walking lunges, leg extensions/curls, calf raises, Bulgarian split squats and finished everything off with 2 sets of pistols (that's all I could manage by then). tongue.gif Then I actually made myself RUN home for no apparent reason, nearly collapsing outside my house. XD

Heatiness is a traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis. LOL! Most Chinese would know it.

Basically means your body is getting heaty, dehydrated.
You feel the heat comes from inside your body, not the heat from outside (sun, weather, sauna).
Being heaty for too long will lead to fever, catching a cold, nose bleeding, sore throat, coming down with flu (if serious enough), etc.

How to deal with it? Eat cooling foods like watermelon, drink lots of water, shower, drink Cantonese 'leong cha', coconut water.

isglory,
No one bothers to answer because it's a non-issue. LOL!

How about working in 35 deg celcius heat during the summer without air cond?

Your coach is nuts. Lets not forget that during winter, the temperature can drop to below zero in some places. Not good for health, I hear your coach say?

It's really no big deal.

LoL, okay...I so happen to know who you are thats all....Hey, Im being liberal here...you say whatever you want, if it doesnt make any sense someone will come up and say something about it....which part of it isn't fair?

on the other hand...sometimes flaming on HnF is like playing GTA4..Its sooo addictive.. tongue.gif
Remember Budak84? It's even better than GTA! I got blacklisted wei!

QUOTE(Xesgod @ Aug 4 2009, 09:13 PM)
hey hi, was wondering right..when programs require "lift till failure" .. can this be done without a spotter or is a spotter recommended.. kinda hard to lift till failure without a person helping with those final few pumps lol
Errr... if the spotter help you to lift... then no point lah kan? 'Failure' for me means do until sendiri tak boleh do. Then the spotter is there to help rack the weights back, or prevent the weight from falling on me. =D

Eh, wanna ask...

When doing Bulgarian split squats, do you guys lean forward?

Because the article in T-nation [ http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article...s_one_at_a_time ] showed that the girl was doing BSS with a totally vertical body.

Oh. OK.

I was actually thinking about this:
Is it supposed that the rear leg hangs on the bench and not do anything but balance the body a bit?

If a person keeps a straigh body, then the rear leg will be handling a lot of the burden (of the weight).
--> Which makes it not exactly single leg anymore, ain't it?
Even with dumbbells, I couldn't manage to keep vertical (if I want to emphasize on the front leg).

Anybody know what is this exercise known as?

Use a weight plate, lifting it from the knee level to shoulder level.

Like using the kettleball swings. Tried that last night, not easy.

Huh? Tak paham, bro.

Upright row? Clean? Front raise? DB swings?

QUOTE(Desvaro @ Aug 8 2009, 02:52 PM)
Everytime I go HEAVY on snatch grip deadlifts, my a$$ really really hurts for the next few days, especially when sitting on the toilet bowl. This is further compounded by the fact that I have to take a dump more often due to the increased protein intake etc etc. Even worse, I do them while standing on plates, so larger range of motion etc.

But holy sh*t 150kg for 5 triples.

Anyway mofonyx, I'm experiencing the same thing as you. Currently on Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 program, everything gets done in around 45 minutes or so, yet I'm seeing nice progress. I remember the reason he designed this program was because he had just became a father, so he needed more time for his family and all, thus having to keep it short yet still be able to progress.

Works well for busy people.
How's your Wendler 5/3/1 going? I wonder is his programme suitable for rabbits like me. You know lah, rabbits can't lift heavy yet. Maybe for dudes like Jon DL 160+kg... Wendler 5/3/1 would be a good match.

I've just finished one cycle and I am in love with it (no homo).

What are your maxes for squat, deadlift, bench and overhead?
DL about 90, overhead 35. Never really tested 1RM, just estimate from 3RM. Haven't been progressing for the longest time. I go to gym to chat more than training nowadays. LOL!

if me, then its 175kg for the time being. havent done any increment coz avoiding injuries. =.=
Who else, Jon? You lah.
BTW, my mistake. Underestimated your DL. Apologise.

Ever since I modified Rippetoe to include Tsatsouline's high-volume ideas, my workouts last almost 2 hours. Since last two workouts I've cut it back to Rippetoe's original plan because I have a life outside the power rack.
Pavel got write about high volume stuff meh? I've only read about his high frequency and stuff.

You know, Florian, if both you and the dental floss kid walk on the street, and some poor sod decides that you guys look like walking ATM machines...
Who do you think will get mugged?

Being HYOOOGE and muscular is the #1 prevention of crime (onto oneself). One can be as non-functional as can be, but no one messes with a big guy. At least that's what I believe.
Now tell me (or the dental floss), is being muscular for show is useless?

Or give him a great bear hug and constrict his lungs a bit. A small strength demo might just change his tone. LOL!

I've just received some 'unconventional' nutrition and exercise advice today:
(pizzaboy, can you ask your coach about these pointers whether they make sense? Because they certainly don't make any sense to me. LOL!)

1) Drinking whey in between set during workout will put the proteins to waste. It's better to take isotonic drinks. Post workout should be something with carbs (milk, bananas, eggs), then a few minutes later---whey protein.

2) Don't take protein stuff immediately after waking up. Take some carb (fruits, honey, bread, rice, porridge, etc) or chinese style soup. Then take protein (eggs, milk, whey, etc) 1/2 to 1 hour later.

3) Chin up works the triceps instead of the biceps.
Well I have lots of respect for the gym owner, but this one I can't accept.

QUOTE(dy/dx @ Aug 10 2009, 08:54 PM)
okay guys, what's the most effective exercise to train forearms using dumbbells?

Braindead,
HL is low lactose. Probably that's why it's more expensive. If you're not lactose intolerant, then it doesn't matter much to you.
