So I was also wondering, how do you college guys manage to eat clean with all the easily available economy rice/ chicken rice at restaurants and food courts?

Like just now, I just ate RM5 worth of economy rice with 1 fried egg, fried drumstick and pork slices with gravy...all of them are not even close to clean but what can I do? I don't have a kitchen in my hostel room and everything in the economy rice like oily and full of gravy and lard.

EDIT:
So I was reading a 8 week get ripped diet plan and they have things like Atlantic salmon, cottage cheese and lean steak. How do I get those food? I really need to eat some kind of fruit but I don't have a fridge in my hostel room. So usually at night I just drink my milk from adding water to milk powder.

I don't even know some of the food they listed, like tilapia, zucchini, baby lima beans, haddock, halibut.

I think we need a Malaysian Bodybuilding Guide for Muscle Food, stating what are they, what they are called in locally, nutritional facts, price and where to get them.
*
What you can do is improvise. I too live on campus and can understand how hard it is to eat clean with the food here.

Here are a couple of tips which i personally practice:
1) Instead of taking the fried drumstick, choose chicken breast in soups or curry/gravy.
2) Cut down on the rice. Its economy rice, so u have control of how much rice u take.
3) Eat your vege! They are packed with nutrients and add up for the carbs u cut from rice.
4) Go easy on the gravy. Take just enough for taste, dont banjir the entire plate.
5) Fruits such as apples, oranges and pears can be kept without using a fridge for storage. I stock up my fruits weekly.
6) For milk, powder form is fine. Try getting SUNLAC Skim Milk from jusco. Its packed with protein, low in fat and a value for money buy. Another choice would be to stock up on 250ml packets of Dutch Lady low fat UHT milk. Each packet has 8.5g protein in it.
7) For fish, get some Tuna. They come in cans, so storage is not a problem.

Lastly, learn to cook and prepare meals in ur hostel(if cooking is allowed).
I manage to cook a variety of dishes just by using a rice cooker.
The only meal I have at campus is lunch since I would be having classes around that time, the rest I prepare myself.(currently consume 6 meals a day)

Hope this helps.

While we are on the topic of leg pressing, my gym leg press machine is kinda weird. Its like u have to keep one leg straight while the other leg presses. As in there's two "pressing thingies" instead of one. And the angle of the body lying down bruises my traps everytime. Cz my traps are the only thing keeping me from being pushed back. Anyone's gym's leg press machine is like that?

there should be a pin in between the two bars/leg pedals that gives you the option to tie the two together or have them separate.

I have used similar machines before, it should be somewhat similar to the one you are referring too.

Hey guys, which would you choose between these two:
1) 1 scoop of whey protein pre-workout followed by 1 scoop post workout

or

2) 2 scoop of whey protein post workout

I'll choose whey after post workout. pre, just eat some normal protein.

I'd take 2 scoops post.

Pre workouts, you always want a quick available energy. Protein taxes your liver and stomach to breakdown the amino acids from the peptide bonds. Add that wit digesting the nutrients and the vitamins as well as BCAA, you get a body that has 40% of its focus on digesting food, and another 60% on training.

Why do you think runners, cyclists and trialathon runners  almost never take a high protein meal the night before? Tour De Langkawi cyclists (France) use high carb foods and cakes like fruitcakes and raisins to ensure they have a steady stream of carbs for energy.

I thought there was a thread about this before it was closed.

I said 1.5 scoop whey + slow digesting carb for pre and 1.5 scoop whey + fast digesting carb for post.

tq for the feedbacks.
Currently I'm taking some carbs for pre workout and whey+dextrose+creatine postworkout.

Seems to be working wel, just thought of trying something else for a change in routine

after shopping around..
still thinks that HL milk has the highest protein content and value for money comparing litre to litres..
so how much is the cheapest can get?
bought at cold storage is rm5.89..
i kno kk mart is selling rm5.50..
*
I never buy stuff from cold storage unless I cannot find them elsewhere, things are way overpriced in there.

The best price you can get for HL Milk is at jusco. Buy their twin pack, 2 x 1L packs for RM8.59~

Dutch lady especially at that offer price is an awesome deal.

However you should get the Low Fat packs next time, they have more protein per serving and well, Less Fat(and carbs).

I love the effects of training. I've never been fitter in all my life. And until recently, I actually looked forward to train. Today's training day, yippee!

But since about 3 weeks my motivation level has gone down. Hmm, that co-incides with when I started dieting. The diet is nothing radical. I cut out the milk and McD Lunch Special, and aim to eat about 1 small plate of spaghetti (300 kcal) less a day. Eliminate caloric surplus, create small calorie deficit. That's all.

I need something of a reset. A break from training. To live life like the couch potato I was before all this began in March. I miss that lifestyle. It was simpler, I ate like any other Malaysian, and had about 6 hours more discretionary time per week in which I am not clenching my teeth, holding my breath, and giving everything I have to raise the barbell.
*
you sound sad my friend.
Bodybuilding is not something you pick up and say "ok, i wanna look buff to impress the ladies so i'm going to hit the gym".

Its more of a self realisation of health and fitness.

If you make bodybuilding a lifestyle and not a chore, you will never miss or feel like you have to 'give up' crappy food and poor eating habbits.

Then again, not everyone can achieve this point of self realization as each individual has a different mindset.

*keep the milk in your diet. Milk is one of the best muscle building agent known to man till now.
opt for low fat/skimmed milk over full cream

Brother. What does u mean by hyped up? Pro Complex is superior to every other type of supplement out there. But of course it's more expensive! That's why it's better. It's not anohter wheay.

Team Pro Complex: bigger, faster, smarter.

Added on August 21, 2009, 11:11 amBTW, I weighed myself yesterday, and found I gained 2 kg in 2 weeks while on a cut and inconsistent training. Strange.

team Pro Complex is smarter tongue.gif

Yes Pro Complex may be superior to the standard whey protein because of its blend and added nutritional ingredients, if price is not a factor.

For people who are on a budget constrain and want to squeeze out the best value for every penny, Pro Complex(or any other superior protein blend formula) is not the way to go. Like pizzaboy said, you can get all the nutrients in it from combining whey + multi vits.. etc.

But of course its more convinient to just take 1 serving of Pro Complex than to stack various other supplements in order to match the same nutritional value.

Again, this is where the price factor come in. Got money = less work, no money = more work?

Cheers-
