that's because MYR is weak in general; it is independent of the AUD

if you have read the recent bloomberg interview with zeti akhtar azi in singapore, you will realise that the government believes the november interest rate cuts and stimulus packages are adequate.

hence i doubt bank negara is going to buy MYR to boost its value up. furthermore it is hoped that a lower MYR value, will boost the export decline as well.

bcos MYR is not big dominant..right..SG is.

how is this going to happen? hmm.gif

Lower currency rates boost exports, because our exports will become comparatively cheaper.

Eg;

1 PC Malaysia makes cost 5k ringgit, which equals 1k pounds in the UK

with a lower exchange rate, the cost of the same PC is still 5k ringgit, but not it's 700 pounds in the UK and thus cheaper to buy with the pound.

This lower price is attractive to importers and gives them a huge incentive to buy Malaysian. China artificially keeps their money down by force to make sure their products are cost favourable in the international markets.

thank you for elaborating my point further. not just in regards to export, it is also an incentive to lure investors back. heck, even china is losing its comparative advantage (despite proclaiming itself as a capitalist, they still run ala communism) to countries like vietnam.

@ KVReninem

frankly speaking, the so-called burden of our parents is the least of government's concern. that is probably the last thing on their mind. sorry to burst your bubbles.

can, most definitely (with ease)

so long that we don't go and buy ourselves a honda civic FD1 and then attempt to "zheng" it up to be a honda civic type R.

i don't see how we cannot survive the ever escalating exchange rates. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Rydges is smack dab in the middle of the city, very nais place. clost to Chinatown, QV and Myer/David Jones . Take 1 tram can go straight to Smith St or DFO.

buy arr ... im not sure, my mother came over here and bought like AUD500 worth of spirulina, chondroitin(for bones), fish oil ... all those stuff la. She also bought a lot of shoes at DFO Spencer St.

http://www.dfo.com.au/spencer/
Bridge rd in Richmond for shoes
Smith St(the back end) for warehouse sales. Then walk over to Brunswick and do the same.
Travel north to Lygon for Italian food, Brunswick Rd for cafes.

i cant be your tour guide unfortunately, i got 30% assignment due this Wednesday. >.<

if you want to buy expensive chocolate, find a Haighs, they're everywhere. Or try Brunetti's for nougat, or Max Brenner, or my favourite - Koko Black.

i know the lawyers who did the immigration for the Kayu workers. Very well recommended since they can bring in these type of people(ie. uneducated foreign worker with dodgy qualifications) to Australia.
