Hi all....

I've decided not to do the bulk purchase from tennis-warehouse because I'm buying a racquet locally. Racquets in Malaysia are cheaper than the US if u include the shipping charges. I will post here again on any future bulk purchases from tennis-warehouse. Sorry for all shopping plans spoilt... lol.. support malaysian shops yeah.. cheers tongue.gif

Guys,

I made a schedule for this weekend since so many people wanna meet up... so
the agenda/game play of the day would be like below:

5.00pm - 5.30pm - Chip73 vs Pooh

5.30pm - 6.00pm - Chip73 vs Sophis

6.00pm - 6.30pm - Chip73 vs SSJBen

6.30pm - 7.00pm - Chip73 vs mrjgx

7.00pm - 7.30pm - Chip73 vs ckseong80

7.30pm - Talk cock at mamak

One set each & ngam2 five sets just like grand slam... cool eh? With a calibre
that Chip73 has, five sets like eat peanuts. All agree with my suggestion? I think
no problem right? cooolll.... cool2.gif

His coach is not talking about contact point or where to contact the ball. He is talking
about Yan's ball travel path.

I think his coach meant that the highest point of his ball path is above the net which
is the apex of the ball path curve. Controlling the apex means putting the highest
height of the ball at a certain location... he would put it right above the net area.
Check out my diagram.. he wants you hit like the green path & u're hitting too much
like the red path now.

user posted image

When Yan hits a too penetrating shot, it might not even have a prominent apex because
the ball is hit through so hard, it goes straight & doesnt have that rainbow shape path.
I really understand what the coach is trying to convey to Yan because I've seen
Yan hit balls from the baseline before.

His coach is correct. Coaches would correct & balance out your weaknesses. In this
case he is putting control in Yan. It is always control first then comes power. Of cos
having both like Chip73 would be something that we all want dont we?

Yan,

I think it is pretty simple... if u hit through the ball more (doesnt matter what grip), it will
go more towards the red path. If u hit through lesser with more bottom to top sweep (topspin),
it will become more like the green path.

Another thing is the follow through... if u close down the racket face after the contact, spin
would lessen. If you windshield wipe your follow through, spin would increase.
Racket face on contact, contact height & takeback also play a major role... damn.. come to think of
it, its not easy also.... LOL.... so many things to take into consideration.. minus gear somemore,
LoL.... no wonder its a life long learning process eh?

Well thats why when u go coaching they'll load up your stroke memory with repetitive
stroking everytime... they keep correcting & fine tuning & build up your consistency. But I
foresee that your stroke would become more like junebug... slightly more on the flat side but
the difference between you & him now is movement & control... junebug can move very2 well & has
great footwork prior to contact. You will know a player moves well when he execute inside out
forehands consistantly... thats one of the more difficult forehand to prepare.

Watch more when june is hitting with chip73.... they're the better players here smile.gif

He might be young but he is one of the more technical coaches I've encountered... he
is also coach to a few forummers here.... u can go for 1 session & see how first.

p/s: support la own forummers a bit... lol
