Hello there guys. I just bought my n82 last week. Was reading the threads in version 1 suddenly got until version v6 wah lau. Just want to ask a few things.

1)Previously i was using k800. For n82 i noticed theres no sms counter. How can i have it on my n82?

2)Music player for n82. I have 2 folders on my computer (mp3) english and chinese. I transfer it to my n82 music folder. When i click the music folder on my n82 the english and chinese folder is not there but all the songs are in the music player. Where to see all this folders. It was much easier on my k800. And then when i want to create playlist it goes to all songs... so susah to find the songs i want if i got 100 of songs rite. Like in my k800 last time i just browse to specific folder to get the songs i want to put in my playlist.

Any of u guys previous SE user? How do u solve these problems.

Thank You in advanced

1. Move all Inbox and Outbox SMS into respective folders in My Folders. sweat.gif Will take up a lot of phone memory, so I suggest to change setting to store in memory card.

2. You need to manually assign each file to playlist/folder in N82. Very troublesome. sweat.gif

Both is not proper solution, N82 sucks. doh.gif

3. N82 has a lot of missing things other than SMS counter. The GPRS data counter on time online and grand total time are not there as well. Only log the previous online time.

Wrong phone, mate ? rolleyes.gif

Looks like it's not difficult to spot K800 to N82 users. I'm one of them tongue.gif

I don't like the way S60's music player works. It pulls musics from all folders, and it makes me wonder why do they separate two folders (Digital and Simple) when they are gonna list all of time anyways?

It takes ages to browse through my entire playlist just to look for the ringtone or sms tone I want. For now, I have excluded my ringtones and sms tones from appearing in the music player by hiding the Simple folder. Setting ringtone is easy as I can browse to the Simple folder using Y-Browser, open the song in music player and set it as ringtone from there.

The thing is, there is no option to set sms tone from the music player itself. I have to browse to "Settings > General > etc.." to set my sms tone. What troubles me is that the sms tone is not listed as I've hide Simple folder. I have to unhide it, refresh the music player, then only the tones will reappear, again, in the long damn list. I have to browse through my 360+ songs just to locate a 2-second long sms tone!

The ultimate question, is there anyway to solve this? Make the music player index only the Digital folder, while the ringtone and sms tone selection only index files from the Simple folder. I remember reading something like this, but I didn't bookmark it. And now, I couldn't find it anymore. Google returns nothing sad.gif

Different user have different needs. I'm happy with the N82, especially with a large community (and hackers) behind the S60 3rd tongue.gif I love how limitless the possibilities are with its ability to install third party apps.

SE phones are simpler and more user friendly, especially for non-techie users.

greetings..

i was an ex-SE phone user too! my previous phone was W610i.
i found that the N-series are packed with thousands of features especially WiFi + GPS + stereo speakers and they made me chose this phone.
i guess i have to learn to get used to nokia's UI first before making any 'improvements' in my phone. and i am really looking forward to 'enhance' my phone. well,i am not new to doing this kind of things because i have done that before on my motorola phones. but i didn't have the time to do that on my W610i though..

overall, i think N82 will be a great friend to me.
however, i still dislike the music player. or maybe i'm just still new?
it is really different with walkman player, both have their + and - sides.
for example, nokia has the ID3Tag editor, which is very helpful but the walkman has its 'queue' feature which i really like!

by the way, why does this phone doesn't have dedicated multimedia/music player keys? they should be very handy right..

and if only motorola distribute the ZN5 phone here, N82 would have an undisputable rival eversince, in terms of camera performance. and probably i won't be using this phone right now tongue.gif

well, i only just use this phone for a day only and there's still much to learn..i hope u guys will give me advise!

There are plenty of 3rd party music players for S603rd device, just Google around. The fun starts after you've figure how to sign apps or hack your phone, sky is the limit.

well,i partially agree with the keys. the keys should not specifically be used for the music only, but other medias too such as videos or pic slideshow. from what i see, this phone also perform well in video playback or streaming thanks to the graphic processor, and more people will likely to play more videos hence a dedicated multimedia playback keys are needed for their convenience. think of this situation, u are listening to a song while sms-ing or playing a game, then with a reason u want to stop the music instantly. well, how many times should i press the buttons? 3 times? please correct me if there is another way and please do ignore me if u think i'm just another newbie.

anyway, on the other hand, more buttons means they will turn this phone to look less aesthetic.
cheers!

So how any solution to get a sms counter for n82. Any softwares?

When i press the menu key for a few seconds sometimes there are applications which have not been closed. Is it true that it will use up more battery if the applications are not closed.

Hey buddy, i agree that it will be good if there is a specific button for video playback and slideshow...but, if u wan the 4 music keys to be appeared in the N82, then the current design is totally gone!! we will not have our current pleasent look of the N82....although u r quite right if we have the button, we can easily close the music whenever we want...anyway, good suggestion...

I rename my Ring Tones music to start with RT and SMS message tones to start with MT. Manual grouping rclxub.gif But still have to browse through the entire list to reach M or R doh.gif

Anyway, to the rest, if you want a music player phone, N82 is a wrong choice. N95/N95-8GB is better, as it has music player keys. 5800XM is even better.

I would say N82 is somewhere between 5800XM/N95 and the E-Series. More towards a serious/work related phone. Also more towards camera side.

Now you gave me an idea. Rename all my ringtones and sms tones to start with some symbol or "A", so that they will all be listed on top of the list and there is no need to locate a single ringtone among hundreds of mp3s.

Hey, nice find there. It would be perfect if the music player index files from the Digital folder only. Ringtones are still included even after using this hack. But the thing is, after I hide the Simple folder, the music player stops indexing files from there, but I can still select them when selecting ringtones or sms tones thumbup.gif
