he could have been conned by the phone seller into thinking that it is a SingTel set which in actual fact may not be.

such incidents always happen (not just in singapore). but to be fair, who on earth walks around with a list of unlocked iphones from apple whilst shopping for an iphone.

reading all the statement made me realize there's some ppl who are waiting for a chance to con someone...
hopefully those who are new and interested to get iphone better do their homework or else end up being cheated....
and boy... we do not talking about 20sen or RM20 here.... so plz be careful....

Indeed, there is once my friend almost bought Iphone with ridiculously cheap price from sg wang. Luckily she call me first and ask me is it possible a singapore set sold with that price.

Quoting from my previous reply :

Anyway which Gevey model are u using currently?

The latest is the Gevey 3G Plus 2 Version

QUOTE
GEVEY-3G PLUS 2 VERSION TAKING ORDERS

This is a upgraded version for firmware 2.2 and 2.21(modem 02.28.00/modem 2.30.03). It works perfectly for firmware 2.2 and 2.2.1 and  just like our last version for firmware 2.1. Finally it is ready to sell.

*We can NOT garantee that will work on firmware 2.3 or later. Since it is not released yet.

The picture took from a real GEVEY-3G PLUS2 sim.
And reviews from the net says Rebel is better than Gevey and can redetect signal after lost

Buying from Singapore doesn't guarantee an unlock set.... we still need to check the Part Number.
I bought mine from Singapore last year but its a US set.

Have purchased different versions of Gevey SIM umlock cards through eBay from a supplier in HKG - from 2.0.2 to 2.2 (used the 2. version fom beginning of Dec 2008) and found the cards to be reliable and does work. They have just released Gevey 3g PLUS 2 which is supposed to work on baseband 2.3. All the cards cost me only about USD8.99 each with free shipping and I have used the earlier Gevey cards even before the Dev team release their unlock functions and all the unlock cards worked.
Based on this experience, I would trust that their 2009 version will work for baseband 2.3.
Do not know when the Dev team will release thier unlock apps.
No harm spending less than RM30 to try instead of having a expensive iPod for a few months.
Received my cards about 7 working days from the time when I ordered the cards. I am not promoting any of these suppliers but you could check them out on eBay.

The only problem is that you will need a new SIM unlock card every time you upgrade the baseband by mistake!
