hi seniors,

i have very smart brain and i have accidentally updated my firmware to 2.2.1, meaning it's running at baseband of 2.30.3, which means i have screwed up, congratulate me.

since i do not know when the dev team will release the unlock for 2.30.3 baseband, i was thinking if i could use those sim unlocker, like a chip or something, some people said MINE IS WORKING PERFECTLY!! some say there is alot of problems and preferred unlocked phones, well i am actually very blur now and do not know whats going to happen if i use a sim unlocker too, this is my planning, use a sim unlocker first and wait for the unlock release, when its released unlock the phone and use back a normal digi sim card.

anyone can give me any suggestion or advise? whats gonna happen if i use a sim unlocker?

thanks in advance seniors.

ohh thank you so much for the infomation, well ive read it already, it seems most of the problem is the network failure la 3g connection fail lah, but do u think its worth using? i am phoneless, whats ur opinion of me using a turbo sim untill dev team release unlock for 2.30.3 baseband?

Dont worry bout the unlock thingie. Dev team usually manage 2 unlok it less than a year. Hahahaha.
But on the serious note, it should be very soon. Believe in them!

Rather than waiting for the Dev Team solution and phone-less, might as well you try the "turbo sim" solution.. at least you have a "phone"!

I am running a 3G unlocker and it is doing great I can't tell any difference, I know if you're like me you can't afford to have an expensive iphone lying around not getting any use out of it, so I can honestly say get the unlocker and use your Iphone because right now all you have is a very expensive ipod.

singtel set are official unlocked, u do restore and let itunes activate it by itself, the whole process is less than 5 minutes, after that only proceed with jailbreak

u can refer ur part number here

well..i ask my sis to cod with him in KL yesterday (my sis back today to KK)..so when test..ok..can call/sms etc etc..so she just landed here in kk 8pm..i take then i saw is fw 2.2

so if i want to upgrade to 2.2.1 (LET say is a SINGTEL set) ..should i just press the upgarade/restore (without SHIFT) or just the Page 1 Firmware?

now i saw my baseband is 02.30.3 ..i put my sim cannot already..

Hmm, for aus sets, i think u need to pay a lil' amount for the respective telcos to unlock it

QUOTE
Out of the box, Australian iPhone 3G units are locked by nature. However, the local network carrier provider can perform an authorised unlocking for a fee.

Apparently, Optus prepaid iPhones are extremely rare nowadays and to make things worse, Telstra does not sell them outright anymore. However, one can head to JB Hi Fi, Next Byte or Harvey Norman to purchase them. The downside to this is that the unlocking process will cost you approximately AUD150 per unit.

AUD 150x2.3610 = RM 354.15

U have 3 options :
1. Get someone back to Australia to unlock it for u
2. Buy a turbo sim << most viable
3. Wait for yellowsn0w dev team to crack the 2.30.00 baseband
