Free entry... supposedly there's studio facilities as well... thumbup.gif

- Free entry
- Studio facilities for FREE!
- Talks, seminars and workshops
- So far, hinted that Canon, Nikon, Olympus are the Sponsors of the show... Panasonic, Epson etc will be there too (waiting for Sony)
- Will have other accessories and lenses etc.

I guess DCIM is a standard folder in Camera, I seen it on Canon, Nikon and Sony camera...

If you're from NKVE side, keep going straight past Damansara Utama and Bandar Utama, head towards Federal Highway, on the way after the Wisma Dijaya or something (it should be on your left) and you see a flyover being built, keep right, go to the traffic light and make a U-turn there. Keep going straight, and you'll see it right in front of you.

You'll need flash though. Or if you have intermediate body you can borrow like 40/50D then use it on ISO800/1600. Very clean shots. 1000D can't do that. cry.gif

i use 400d, i don't have any external flash.. but if there's someone kind enough to borrow me a 40d/50 i would not mind..btw, do i really need to bring a ladder? my first time shooting this type of event

I want the 14-54f2.8 but no money. 12-60f2.8 SWD would be great too but it's wasted on my E-500 body.

to add some fun if you get bored on the weekends in DCIM, there is a wedding and beauty expo. However, I do not know whether is photography allowed on the staged because usually wedding expo/fair do not allow photography from non-media. Worth a try... because.....

I'm standing while typing this. It's stuffy and room considered damn small for event this size. As usual people all flocking to shoot model. So far boring.

actually the earlier reply i type when i was in MV but somehow the C3G naughty don't allow me to post until i got home.

if you want to attend the seminar, GO EARLY! 40 seats only (i counted) in the damn small room. some people hog seats so you end up standing at the wall. even with those standing along the wall, total about 50 people can fit. any more it's gonna be damn uncomfortable. some more you know people bring bags.

so don't expect awesome deals for camera body or lenses. however other accessories you can consider la.

i think best value is the seminar / talk session. the room so damn cramped and all, i'm cancelling my Sat / Sun visit. sad.gif cos nothing else to see in the hall. and i can't be bothered to go into that crowded uncomfortable room.

Got better things to do if it's as bad as Goldfries says.. Like my assignments. And finishing my Empire:Total War campaign. Not interested if i'm going to be surrounded by sweaty bodies, pushing around for good shooting positions just to get a few frames of models and getting hit on the head with someone's 300mm or 600mm lens.

the whole exhibition is no big deal.

you can forget about getting a new cam or lenses there,since its more expensive than those shop from the outside.

accessories wise,the bags and shit are slightly expensive.The only bargain i got is Rm30 for the matin strap.

if you are planning to buy anything,make sure to check to street price of the item before going there,so you won't kena the trap set up by the salesman.I bought a kata bag thinking its cheap,but found its RM2 more expensive...FFFFFFFFFFFFF

just go there try out the cameras,especially the Full Frame ones armed with lenses huge enough to whack someone to death.

Errmm..interesting stuff is..
Digicolour with all their lighting stuff. from product shooting stuff to umbrella, studio lights and stuff.

Lots of memory cards there but nothing seems really cheap

interesting stuff is Nikon booth at they have a few camera on display with some bad ass lens attached.
Canon only has a 5D with the 400 mm F2.8 IS L lens
nothing fantastic since mounted on the pod cant test IS
the FOV is same as a crop camera with 250 mm lens tongue.gif
No other lens to molest.

dont bother shooting angels as the crowd is mad. unless you are 6 feet 5 or 7 feet tall. bring ladder better but it's only a 15 min parade

Bummer indeed. Maybe 21 of them were on their way there but took a detour after a group of models walked pass. tongue.gif

I guess the exhibition itself is not quite what they advertise it out to be. I can only hope that the workshops won't be disappointing too. Ahh well... can't expect too much since it's free.

i think last time photography festival is better than this...

Was thinking of going to KL earlier to visit this event on Sun as I have an appointment on Tue 31Mar. Looking forward for a bargain. Good thing I didn't adjust my schedule for this event.

They removed the stand as you see in goldfries picture. I asked the one of the DCIM crew he said reason for removal was because there were too many photogs.

But what disappoints me more is false promise to provide stands for photogs. My god, rent it-la for RM25-50 whole day then you won't have much to think about. Eesh.

Because there were too many photogs on the floor, you've gotta be a little more creative or forceful in getting a picture of an angel.

Which makes little sense in me there with my puny E-500 and 40-150. Everyone i saw had at least a lens with a range of 250mm or more. Plus i didn't see any other Olympians around so i didn't want to whip mine out.

COmpare with ya photo, if during angel's time sure damn alot photog. Some even stand at Nikon there and snap.

The barrier they used, confirm let ppl push in de. At least I got to go try some lowepro bag but it's crowded there too and the price ain't good.

yeap, badly organized... reached the hall at 1.10 during the Velocity Angel Catwalk and it was super packed; couldn't even get a proper shot so at 3 i walked over to the other hall for the Bridal fair fashion show.

not worthy to go la.. went this afternoon without my cam..

feeling funny when seeing alot of ppl carrying backpacks and sling backs with cameras with them.. decided to ask one of them.. only found out dcim today ..

managed to play around wit the 5dmkII .. good camera with very very good ISO control.. will definitely upgrade when i managed to brush up my basic skills

I went there Sat and Sunday and met Viking on Sunday lol...

overall event was nothing great except the stage protog part for Velocity Angel Search...

juz hang around and see see shoot shoot:) feel sooooo small with my 1000D kitlens and 50mm 1.8 lol.... luckilly 420EX flash did helped out to get bit better shots hehe..

According to feedback from fellow attendee, when he arrived at 1130, the 1st row circling the stage is fully taken.

So I'd assume those ppl came at 1100. The show started at almost 1400. So these ppl has been standing at the same spot for 3 hours without going to the toilet.
