I just did some experiment on apartment yard (tiles floor), I have be trying cow grass.. Cow grass, Philippines grass and Japanese grass at my hometown. I prefer Japanese grass due less maintenance. No need to cut the grass since they like have limited length of leaves unlike Philippine grass which need to be cut from time to time. As per observation I see that the farmer/seller use clay soil and all grass I tried they love direct sunlight (matahari terik) the most provided with good amount of water supply . So in this experiment I bought clay since I want to try at apartment yard. Since my yard facing sun on the afternoon till sun down this would fit my Japanese grass light requirement.

Details as below :-
- Bought Japanese grass at RM3  per cut (bought 6 cut) at sungai buloh grass seller
- Bought 1 guni of clay soil RM  10 same seller

I put 2cm on clay thickness before putting the grass cut. I also have auto water timer 2 times( mist for 10 minutes) this picture after 2 weeks  with mild/very little of fertilizer(mix with water spray).. since want to know how good this grass grow without fertilizer.

Any way to reduce the chance of nasty worm or lawn grub growing beneath the grasses?

This is for treatment/ kill the grub right? How about prevention?Useful too?

I live in JB and a nursery quoted me RM8 ( 2' x 1' ft) for Japanese grass. Is the price reasonable?

I saw the previous post whereby someone get it from Sg Buloh for RM2 per sft.

True also. I just got myself a crass cutter using string one.

But the result not good. Apparently you cant cut carpet grass using string type, must use blade type.

Thanks pal for the replied. My lawn got caterpillars infestation..hundreds of thousand of it. Overnight, 30pct lawn gone. Have tried many such as Furadan etc etc. Now using Malathion 57 and got it under control with once a month spray..In between, spraying Btk to control as well. Hopefully all goes well....😏
