bata,
Firstly, thanks for creating this thread! rclxms.gif

In my case, I was using a notebook fan (powered via one of its USB port).

Slightly warm? Looks like you've got a cool one! tongue.gif

BD ISO? That could be around 40GB for high profile titles. Could take me one whole week to download. sweat.gif

I'm considering the HDX1000, but my MKV collection has gone down to less than 10 titles now. Heartbroken and too lazy to re-download. sad.gif

If I still have my MKV collection I could already own a HD media player now.

BD still my main priority, now and future. I even never go to cinemas since last year, I could wait at least another 3 extra months for the BD. I could be only watching this summer's blockbusters in November! biggrin.gif

But can never say 100% BD, more than half of my disc collection is DVD collected for almost 10 years now. Last month I even bought complete all seasons collection of Friends, The X-Files and Everybody Loves Raymond on DVD. So cheap, all three sets cost me less than RM900. thumbup.gif

Well, same reason why I didn't sell my PS3, the more the merrier. Just like to have a HD media player to complete my setup. In the future I plan to have a dedicated CD player with it's own pre/power amp. biggrin.gif

Yes, I'm thinking about ripping my BD collection into ISO format for backup purpose and play them on the HD player be it NMT or others if possible...

instead of ISO (which is the best way if you want the menu intact) you can always rip to BDMV+CERTIFICATE folder, and use the super huge M2TS file inside the STREAM folder.. so it will play just like a MKV.. main movie only..(no start menu etc)
why dun give it a try and rip one of your movies and experiment.. it's hard to explain the BD ISo or BDMV folder unless you tinker around..

I think the HDX should be able to play the M2TS file..

Would it be better to have it in ISO? so next time I can just burn the ISO to BD-R if the price has dropped to a reasonable level.... Do you know if Dvico can play BD ISO (I'm still reading the thread from beginning rclxub.gif )?

The TVIX has a beta firmware that enable BD ISO playback but they call it BD Lite because it only has limited features like switching audio & subtitiles. Also, can use for 100 times only. Egreat also have a new model that is suppose to playback BD ISO. You can check it out here http://www.egreatworld.com/en/ProductShow.asp?ID=163

eh? egreat does not play bd iso ... it only plays D9 blu-ray dvd disk (like those pirate wanabe bd disc which are actually dvd dual layer)
that means basically even the hdx1000 can do it

even if BDR dual layer price drops to rm10 in 2-3years time (so to transfer 25BDs from one 1TB drive would still cost you RM250), and similarly we could probably get 3-4TB HDD at around RM300 by then.. so still cheaper to keep it on your HDD, not to mention as someone pointed out, time consuming to burn them back to DL BDRs. biggrin.gif cheers.

Yup it is most likely true by then. But now I'm looking for one player that can at least play BD ISO without any problem on the sub, audio, an the feature playing so that I know it is the way to go. smile.gif I know it will eventually be there just the matter of time. Just like it was hard to get a RM player 2 years back but now is everywhere rclxms.gif

agree with you,.. eventually we will get it..

I heard it's not about able to play BD + it's pop up menu/main menu technically, but being able to play BD ISO means maybe have to pay BD royalty hence why can't just simply release this firmware upgrade like this.... could be a valid point here..

Was excited about this latest firmware... read from the forum there about some one who had updated it managed to play his previously "unplayable" MKV files. Then came across a frustrated user who had problem booting the unit up after upgrade. blink.gif

Now thinking twice... sweat.gif

I doubt you can bricked the HDX so easily. After upgrading my Egreat 31B to similar firmware 99% of those problematic MKV is playing back perfectly except for "Elephant Dreams" so it's worthwhile for you to upgrade. If not you can always wait for the DTS downmix version.

Just want to report my first HDX-1000 problem. It WON'T BOOT!!!
After faithfully serving me for a few months, The HDX has called it quit on me. One fine morning I found the red LED staring at me and it won't boot again.

I have escalated the case to Alex and see how HDX handle this case.

Yes I have it on 24x7 since the day I got it. I think it got overheated.

Good thing is I got RMA from Alex and they send a replacement back via DHL to me after received my faulty PCB.

Should be expecting it by tomorrow. ;-)

It is not due to firmware upgrade. I think it is due to the heat problem. I upgraded to the new firmware (HDX one, not Popcorn) and it was running fine.

Most likely the equipment got heat up and corrupted the flash. It boot for 5 secs then crashed with a green screen.

I'll check the heatsink when I got the unit back and see if it was properly attached to the body when it was screwed back.

moviejukebox on hdx1000

probably a beginners question... I have installed myihome together with the moviejukebox plugin (YAMJ) on my pc. It made an index of the moviefiles on my hdx1000 internal harddisk (actually it made the index from the same files on my pc's harddisk using the xml file with this content:
<libraries>
<library>
<path>M:\Movies\highres</path>
<nmtpath>file:///opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/HARD_DISK/Movies/highres/</nmtpath>
<exclude name="sample,tmp/,temp/"/>
<description>Internal Disk</description>
<prebuf></prebuf>
<scrapeLibrary>true</scrapeLibrary>
</library>
</libraries>

I now have in C:\Program Files\myiHome\plugin\moviejukebox\data on my pc some nice looking html files.
What I was hoping for, was to somehow use these on the hdx1000 itself, but I don't know how. Probably the answer is "copy them to the hdx1000". I could do that, but where on the hdx1000 disk do I put them, and how do I start the jukebox on the hdx1000 to see those files.

Do I need to install an extra program on the hdx1000 or a special firmware. I'm missing the idea here, as I cannot find anything about this on the web.

I recently bought Maxtor External HDD 1.5TB.... & the problem is HDX could
not detect the hdd...

Why?? Anyone face this kind of problem before? Could it be insufficient power?

Any help are most welcome,

Did you upgrade to the latest firmware? Does your external HDD have its own power supply adapter or draw power from the USB ports?

use the usb slot just above the LAN port (not the top one). But there are people reported that if you plug it in to the top one before you turn on the power supply, it does get recognised. Try it and let us know? thanks
