A wonderkid to me is a player with the right amount of coaching and playtime under him, has the potential to be a world-class player smile.gif

I don't think I regard Messi as a wonderkid, because he's already playing at the highest level.

Maybe we should listen to what the others have to say about their definition of a wonderkid smile.gif

my definition of wonder kid is they already the manager's first choice at the age of 18-19 ... like owen, gerrard and rooney ...

I'm with verx on this. A wonderkid should be someone really special, not just a young 'un with loads of potential but naught to show for on the pitch when compared to the more accomplished players. If every kid with potential would be dubbed as wonderkids, there'd be at least a thousand possible names to throw into the hat. To me, having talent is not enuff. Thats why I mentioned names like Pele, Maradona, Giggs and Messi, who at their young age were already right up there with the best.

Here is my criteria for a "wonderkid":
- Below 21 years old, which means Messi, Higuain, Benzema, Nasri, Hamsik, and Fellaini just barely missed the cut. They have passed other criteria but are a year above 20.
- Already a regular for club, which means no matter how much the potentials of Ramsey, Bojan, Kroos, Vela and Balotelli are being hyped, they don't qualify until they start getting more games at the senior level.
- and even if they do play regularly, questions must be asked whether they are really indispensable to the club. Santon, Anderson, Richards and Denilson might be regulars but they are quite easily replaceable.
- and playing for a club that competes for honours (or is at least - in the case of Aguero - wanted by top clubs), where the expectation to perform is high. Therefore, the likes of Buonanotte, Aissati, Asenjo, Bale and Adu still have plenty to prove.
- A regular for country, or, in the case of Pato, on the sidelines of the national team if the country has among the biggest reputation and competition for places are tight.

Therefore, the true "wonderkids" in my opinion are Aguero, Pato, Walcott, Busquets and Mata. The latter two are debatable but the first three are spot on.

I have a friend call Muhammedo from Africa now at Malaysia. He is very talented. Only 18 years old. When he starts dribbling no one stops him. He is going to Melburne Victory for a trial a few weeks later.

We are team mates as we both plays for KLYS. We won many tournaments with him.

well, he's not in the same league as aguero, pato or walcott (none of the criteria fits him), but as a 7 years old boy with that brilliant skill, i honour him as a wonderkid!! argue as u wish. heheheh.
