He's on loan at Chievo, but contracted to Inter Milan.

Chievo Verona
Kerlon signed for Chievo Verona on September 1, 2008 and made his debut on October 29 against S.S. Lazio as a substitute, which remains his only appearance for the club to date, chiefly due to injury. [4] Kerlon is on loan from Internazionale. [5]

as far as i know, Kerlon WAS supposed to sign for Inter quite some times ago, but the deal fell thru n Chievo owned him officially n legally now.

i would love to see some official news / statement if i'm wrong, until then, i'm sure he didnt signed for Inter.

Sebastian Giovinco and Claudio Marchisio...both in Juventus

Hehehe...My avatar says it all.... Seba is 22 and Claudio is 23 this year and they are part of Juve's squad now.

I guess TS wanted some youth team players below 21 that might one day be a big time player. Pls accept my apologies for quoting Zapata. smile.gif

My apologies then. That was what I got from Wikipedia and from Football Manager as well.

Have you guys heard of Franco Zuculini? Apparently he is an up and coming defensive midfielder from Racing Club, Argentina. Touted as the next Mascherano.

Would like to see videos of the players that have been mentioned. So that people will know why he is called 'wonderkid'. And based on what I can see in this thread, there are so many wonderkids around. Are there really many of them?

Out of the many wonderkids to have arisen from across the continents, how many actually make it and become a truly world class player? America was raving over Freddy Adu, so much so that United even called him in for a trial. Sad to say, he didn't impress Ferguson one bit, and was not signed. I don't know whats happened to him now, but he isn't plying his trade in one of the big leagues.

The Portuguese league is hardly the best place to nurture one's talent, especially when he's already going on 20. If he really is all that, he'd be playing consistent football in the Liga, Serie A or EPL with a top side, like Messi and Aguero. He's now with Monaco though, but isn't playing regular football. A quick check on Wiki shows that he only managed 11 appearances last season with Benfica.

I agree with the rest of your points, but Portugese league is hardly the best place to nurture talents?

Take a read at that article. Cristiano Ronaldo, Miguel Veloso, Joao Moutinho, Nani, Angel Di Maria etc.?

Contrary to your opinions, I think leagues like Portugese, German, Dutch or even the Argentinian are the best to breed youngsters. Top flight leagues like Serie A, La Liga and Premier League are places for these youngsters to go AFTER they've turned into world-class players.
