No prob dude, will post spam pics tomorrow - today too busy jumping around at my own freedom with the 'DJ' word in mind and then suddenly it rained.. totally forgot leh. My DJ bike now must have a yellow/black color theme (follow frame color). The bottlecage yellow, platform pedals yellow.. now only need to find yellow saddle and brake cables  and OH yellow rims too like NS.. but wheelsets are so expensive lah.
*
Haven't cycled for the whole week already, been stuck in school this whole week (including now as I type this reply) from 8 am -> 8 pm doing World Maths Day competition. sweat.gif

QUOTE(ober @ Mar 5 2009, 02:53 PM)
no bottlecage as bottlecage would distract ur riding. jus bring a bag wit something to drink inside and leave it on the side. and then dj lah all u want.
oh DJ purist also, don't use shifters, no front brakes(sometime brakeless) and no suspension fork.
they use single speed, rear brake & rigid. that's for dj purist.
*
Isn't that like a BMX bike? blink.gif

QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Mar 5 2009, 03:13 PM)
DJ got use susp fork ler lol...
but travel is usually lowered to 80mm or below and are usually extremely hard to compress...
rigid usually reserved for street and trials riding lol...
*
What's the difference between street and trial riding/cycling? wub.gif

nevegals eh, quite grippy they are and cheap too. but i think maybe too narrow in muddy conditions, if a wider tyre would float over the mud rather than sink into it. oh well, never mind. you live and learn.

May I know how much are a pair of Kenda Nevegals @ 2.1 X 26?

Hi all!
I'm new to MTB. Just got a bike for casual cycling around my kampung.
What tyre pump should I get? And how much pressure do you pump your tyres?
*
I usually pump my tires @ 3 bars (exactly) for road or @ 2 bars (exactly) for XC. thumbup.gif

No prob! But they're not much to see xD I think the GT Backwoods performs better but somehow the Giant XtC Team looks better (anyone notice the DJ bike trend?). My GT Backwoods has full XT and a nice Rock Shox SID XC which are still in tip-top condition now (hardly used). I guess it's the color theme of my Giant that makes it nice.. black/yellow.. matching yellow pedals.. hey Ober guess what I cabut the bottle cage like you said, it's been a bane recently - If I wear long or 3/4 pants it always somehow manage to hook itself on the bottle cage I should post the specs soon.. both bikes LOL.. one XC and one DJ bike.

Oh yeah BTW Adrian have you been to Kiara before?
*
I'd prefer if you call me TechnoDude94 and not my real name (Adrian) as this is the "internutzz". TIA. Btw, I haven't been to Kiara "yet".

Well, I'm really grad that we've gotten over the conflicts.

QUOTE(rushmode @ Mar 11 2009, 01:42 PM)
this last few days a few kids is working on a mini downhill trail (500 meters) nearby our house. nothing much for now... but scary as hell.. last section is so steep i think it's almost 70 - 80 degrees vertical then followed by a fast right turn with the berm only 1 feet high. the trail end with a few under construction tabletop (hoping to make them 3 feet or higher). will help them looking for sugar sack for the tabletop. the rain slows the progress.

these kids got balls. 2 of them riding a bust up bmx.
*
Mind telling me what are the kids name and what school are they from?

guys,
quick question...I think I am poision by SRAM...give me good reasons not changing from my current xt shifter and slx rd to sram x7/9 or 0?
*
When recession strikes, then we hit the LBSes, if we didn't lose money by crumpling stocks. Don't buy things yet (be it electronical).

QUOTE(huh? @ Mar 11 2009, 02:08 PM)
1:1 actuation ratio.. less ghost shifting.. and you can sell it second hand to me..lol..hahahaha..
but then.. what is the point of changing when you already have a good setup right?
*
May I know what does "ghost shifting" mean? And if it's so good, why doesn't Shimano use "1:1 actuation ratio" in their drive trains.

1:1 actuation ratio, if not mistaken, is patented by SRAM...
and shimano had been using 2:1 all the while, if they suddenly change to 1:1, there'll be conflicts in parts...

If there's conflicts. How come my friend is using SRAM shifters with Shimano RD? Not sure of model though. sweat.gif

Hey dude, first of all I'm not obsessed with what school they're from. Just curious to know whether they're from my school cause there's a few cyclists from my school. ohmy.gif

QUOTE(rushmode @ Mar 11 2009, 04:32 PM)
sorry dude.. dont know their real name and where they go to school.. they might not go to school at all. i dunno..
if being implemented in few so-called "elite" school in KL/Selangor.. I think there will be no problem.. but i'm sure as hell with current educator quality for rural areas.. it will fail miserably. should start by producing teacher that has good command of english first and make them concentrate teaching english class with better method. science and math can wait another 5 years or so..  anyway, enough about that otherwise i'll get carried away
nothing special about the trail. it just a small trail done by kampung kids who want to taste a bit of freeride experience. all this while they only get to hear it from us talking about it at kedai kopi. we just help as much as we can after work if its not raining..
*
Woa, the may not go to school at al? shocking.gif Maybe they'll entrust their lives to profesionnal cycling. brows.gif (I'm not being sarcastic).

Okay then TechnoDude94, I agree that anything can has happen in teh Internutz. Why not? No transportation? I'm rather lonely cycling for the whole of this March, since my one and only cycling buddy has been grounded. Can't go to Kiara alone - mostly training on DJ skills at the BMX track in BU7 (Bandar Utama). Must. Learn. Bunnyhops. Hey NS, how does your friend bunnyhop so high over the motor kapcai? I can't even hop an inch from flat ground.
*
Urm, I don't go to Kiara/FRIM for cycling cause my Dad doesn't have bike rack (top/rear). We can't fit the bikes in the car cause the Volkswagen Golf GTi is damn small and the Merc-Benz E-Class also can't fit due to width problems. I however, go to Lake Gardens, KL when my neighbor sends me there and cycles there with me but on tarmac (pavement).

techno: get your dad to buy a pickup la, easier to transport bike ma. all these expensive coz of the rip off APs conti cars are no good for taking your bike to some place where you can ride it since bangsar or d'sara heights are too hilly. hehe
*
He's thinking on the Mitsubishi Triton or the Nissan Navara. However, I'll have to wait about a few months more till I can continue cycling as I've got to *prepare* for my PMR. doh.gif Actually, I can fit the T-Bolt into the E-Class but I've to remove both wheels. sweat.gif

QUOTE(latias93 @ Mar 12 2009, 11:02 PM)
Yea.. actually in my opinion T-Bolts are not engineered for downhill or extreme stuff.. it's more for just plain XC.. the whole world saw what happened to your Serena..
TechnoDude, get a bike rack la. Not that expensive.. considering those top-end cars you use
I'd like to sell you my Thule roof rack from our previous car Honda Stream, but each different car got different model for it (must enquire with the Thule staff, of course). For both cars you can install a Thule roof rack, or you can install a rear bike rack for hatchbacks (Volks Golf) and a rear bike rack for sedans (Merc)
*
My Dad offered to buy me a Thule Rear Bike Rack (Universal) @ RM400 but no point (yet) cause I paused cycling until PMR is over.

Mitsubishi Tritons are cool, plus alot of people like to pimp-out their tritons with scissors doors or lowriders, if you're into that
Removing BOTH wheels are alot of hard work xD, actually just the chain part.. the QR always somehow manage to snag onto the chain while you remove the rear wheel. Front wheels remove in seconds
Paused cycling until PMR is over? It's a loooooong time dude.. not the point but cycling is a healthy sport and will not effect your PMR whatsoever (except if you join a xc hash or dh race a week before PMR!).. best to cycle during holidays and PMR days (allocate some free time during evening for cycling, like 1 hour or 30 mins).. you'll feel much better and refreshed for tomorrow.
*
My Dads not really into "pimping" his ride, he prefers it stock and default unless after the warranty of the vehicle is over, he may "pimp" the ride. brows.gif
I always flip my bike upside down (whole frame rests on handlebar and saddle) and I just pull the front and rear quick release levers and it all goes well, no chain snagging. tongue.gif
Yeap, I "paused" my cycling, I did it voluntarily. I still cycle every Sunday, 4 pm -> 7 pm @ Lake Gardens, KL. wub.gif

Update:
Heys guys, I've got another bike to use but for a week, a Merida TFS 900.
I didn't buy the bike, my friend bought it yesterday and he lent the bike to me for a week to test.
The reason he asked me to test his bike is because, he won't be at home for a week as it's school holidays and he doesn't wanna let the bike waste there.
Btw, he paid RM4.3k++ for the bike @ KSH (If you're curious).

Hope you'll have fun riding it during the holidays! Ask him to let you bring the bike to Kiara (just bring the bike here in any way possible!) You'll have a blast, guaranteed.

Depends on your budget - I'd highly recommend SR Suntour forks. Alot of people here are using Suntours too. If your budget is around RM300 then get the SR Suntour XCR. Around RM500-600, get the SR Suntour Epicon. At about RM450 or so (not sure) you can also get a RockShox Dart 3. But what kind of riding you do? Do you do cross-country or just pusing-pusing around town only?
Hm.. most of us here hardly meet each other in this forum.. since we are all spread all over the country and globe.. but I see that a few of us regularly go on rides in Kiara, FRIM and so on. I mostly test my wares in Kiara, since it's near my home in Mutiara Damansara.
