I heard commentator said Teves won it a year before Lucas.. Bad choice for the medal eh?

RB before ManC : We must win this game and put some pressure to United.
RB before Boro : We must win this game and put some pressure to United. RB before Sunderland next : We must win this game and put some pressure to United. to hell with that.. |

And don't forget:
RB: We focus on one game at a time. After the game: (excuse,excuse,excuse).. We need to think about next game. Remember, we focus one game at a time. In the end.. he forget about the objectives. Didn't learn from mistakes. Because of what? one game at a time. Let bygone be bygone. NEXT! |

Rafa did build a strong foundation and quite a strong team. So I think if the is a new manager come in, there will be no problem for him, unless he thinks the players are no good for him.

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Mar 1 2009, 11:00 PM) I don't know...but I got a feeling the new manager will try to find people from their own countrymen/former team players.Take a look at JM, LFS and Guus(now). Jm bought carvalho, Ferriera(both from porto, both also his countrymen)while LFS brought Deco, Bosingwa,Quaresma(all from portugal team) Guus, trying to bring Yuri Zhirkov(from the reports). And Wenger bought all those french...Just imagine, if another manager with different nationality come in, they might splash out a big sum of money, buying their choice of players...It doesnt matter in the end whether the team is strong or not...They want their own men... Maybe what you said is right. After this maybe we need less popular manager for Liverpool. At least with less ego in him (unlike all the manager you said above, and Rafa also..). So then, he'll accept more inputs from the fans, staffs and players themselves. I don't have any name for suggestion but can we really get big named manager for Liverpool next? I think most of them said already they hate Liverpool. At least when they manage other team against Liv in BPL actions. Is there any other realistic target for our next manager? Now with Parry leaving, Rafa egoistic mind will grow even larger, thinks that he won the contract battle (he don't sign it yet, do he?). I believe him as a great manager, bringing Liverpool to the next level but his ego bothers me so much.. I don't even know whether to give him more time and chance or not.. |

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Mar 1 2009, 11:35 PM) I can only think of JM for the moment...At least he wont buy in bunch of french like Wenger did, or bunch of spaniards like Rafa or bunch of portuguese like LFS.He did bring in some new faces but remain most of the capable players...Then again, he is more arrogant than RB. Arrogant and ego is not the same thing. I'm still amazed by him on switching tactic as early as 20 minutes into the game (forgot which Chelsea game was it). Not like Rafa sticking on his 'unpredictable' tactic until the last minutes and it sure is late. Even commentator last night said something like this. "I don't think he will sub Skrtel until 70 minutes even he play badly right now. Rafa never sub that early".. |

QUOTE Rio Ferdinand believes Jose Mourinho has the credentials to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager. Could Jose be next in line? Former Chelsea boss Mourinho is currently in charge of Inter Milan, United's opponents in the Champions League last 16, and England defender Ferdinand believes the Portuguese has the type of character necessary to follow in 67-year-old Ferguson's footsteps. ''There are very few people who could take over,'' Ferdinand said in an interview in GQ magazine out this Thursday. ''If you're talking about someone with the ego and personality to do it, then Jose Mourinho is the name that jumps out at you.'' However, United legend Bobby Charlton does not believe Mourinho, who led Chelsea to two Premier League titles, would be able to extend Ferguson's Old Trafford legacy. Charlton told The Mail on Sunday: ''I would hate for anyone to take this the wrong way but I don't see him (Mourinho) here. ''He's got a talent but maybe if he ever came here the philosophy of youth football might never be the same again.'' soccernet United wanna steal Mourinho from us... |

At down moments like this, I think better use more youth players to expose them and somehow raise their price in case Liv gonna sell them later this summer. I really want to see Pacheco in action. Stephen Darby and Spearing also seem highly potential.

I told ya, putting youngsters on the pitch is not a bad idea. In fact, the whole team behave differently last night.
Masch didn't have problem in right back position yesterday because Sunderland rarely attack using their wings especially on his side. All they know were trying to make a through pass and Reina almost be beaten by that. Now we are going to have a nice long rest before meeting Real again but the real nightmare is the match after that, which is ManU. Hope all the players can recover from their injury especially Torres and Arbeloa, and not to forget Agger's 'sakit hati'.. |

When I look at last night lineup, I thought, wtf, 3-5-1-1? Then when the match start, again wtf? 4-4-2 with Masch on the right? By the way, it's really nice to see Gerrard and Alonso dominating the centre area.

Usually defender won't have any difficulty adapting to BPL style football, especially CD. Maybe it is more physical. Defending is like the word itself, only defend the zone and opponents. Unlike attacking, which has so many styles and tactics in attacking, thus need some specialist players on the turf.
If Raul Albiol really join us, I don't care about Agger leaving, but make it worth the price of Agger. Rafa somehow using Ferguson style of 'sacking' players, refuse contract, not using them but in more good manner, while AF like to throw boots, badmouthed them and offer them to other clubs. Now with Parry leaving and Middle East billionaire are back in interest, maybe next season we will see different set of players playing for us. I bet if ownership change hand by the end of the season, many players will leave and more quality players will come in. Even now we have 'champion minded' players but their inconsistency bothers me. Lack of chemistry? Or Rafa rotation policy caused them? |

When it come as a tour, it mean promoting the team and the sponsors. Carlsberg as one of main sponsor for Liv, sure doesn't want not to be shown in their tour. So I guess it is hard to prevent Liv not to wear Carlsberg just to play here in Malaysia. But it's still not impossible.. Chelsea is the one most probably going again to Malaysia this year as 'social responsibility' campaign by Samsung.
No-Carslberg-logo playing by Liv has occurred in several occasion, still can't remember which and when.. But I believe they have something to do with some cup tournaments. They HAVE to do that in order to participate in the tournament. |

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Mar 5 2009, 09:20 PM) New sponsorship plans for Liverpool FCIan Ayre, a candidate to be Liverpool’s next chief executive, has revealed new sponsorship plans and a desire to push the club higher in the football world’s rich list. Ayre, 45, was appointed, primarily, by Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks as the club’s new commercial director 18 months ago. And with Rick Parry announcing he will be quitting as the Anfield club’s chief executive this summer after 12 years in the job, Ayre is already being touted for the job along with former FA chief Brian Barwick. Now Ayre has confirmed a new sponsorship with the Bank of America, the prospect of three other sponsorships soon and a summer tour to the Far East for Rafael Benitez’s team. Liverpool have extended their agreement with the BoA for a further four years, a deal worth £5m to the Anfield club. BoA is the parent company of Chester-based credit card firm MBNA who supply Liverpool’s credit card for fans, and they announced major redundancies in December for their world-wide operation. Ayre, in an interview with Bloomberg, the financial news agency, said: “Other transactions are under discussion.” They could involve the consumer electronics, gaming and automotive sectors. The Far East tour has been set for July 17 to 26, and will involve matches in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. With Liverpool not involved in the newly-formatted Champions League competition next season until, at the earliest, a play-off round scheduled for August 18 or 19 and August 25 or 26 - rather than the current format of a third qualifying round -they will be able to fit in a lucrative trip to the Far East where they have millions of fans. Liverpool, currently third in the Barclays Premier League, could well benefit from the new UEFA rule that allows the first three clubs in the Premier League to go straight into the group stages, as opposed to the current top two. The fourth finishing club will compete in the play-off stage. Ayre clearly aims to exploit the world-wide market. According to a Deloitte report released last month, Liverpool is the seventh-richest club in the world with revenues of over £200m (210.9 million euros). Liverpool had risen one place from the year before and Ayre says sponsorship gains made in the past 12 months mean he “would be shocked if we did not climb further.” On the decision to tour in the Far East, Ayre said: “If you are going to build a business overseas a key part is to allow people to touch and feel the product on a regular basis. “What is clear is that there is an opportunity for Liverpool to do much better(financially) than they had in the past.” Asked about his possible elevation to chief executive, Ayre was non-committal. He said: “At this stage I am just committed to driving forward the commercial operations of this football club.” Prior to joining Liverpool, Ayre had been chief executive of Total Sports Asia, who advised companies on sports and entertainment campaigns in Asia. Prior to that he was managing director of Virgin/NTL subsidiary Premium TV having joined from Huddersfield Town where he had been chief executive and chairman for three years. source Looking for Carlsberg sponsor and other Liverpool sponsors, then found this. Bank of Amerika aka BoA anyone? and who the hell is Ian Ayre? Another yank? Added on March 5, 2009, 9:52 pm QUOTE(bhypp @ Mar 5 2009, 09:35 PM) well ur only partially right there....defenders should also be able to read the game very well....ie hyypia...so that they can set up a good offside strategy and also to initiate / assist in the attacking effort....well alot of ppl thought offside is just by chance but its not...its pure ingenuity of the back 4 to anticipate the pass and to make that 1 step up....nowadays even by just dropping a shoulder forward a fraction of a second prior to a killer thru ball would already made the targetted striker offside...that is how precise the games are nowadays... About the defender thing, you got most of it right. But can you name any big flop defender when he join BPL? Not many right? That's why I said USUALLY defenders won't have problem adapting to BPL style. I always categorized defenders as good and great defenders but midfielders and forwards as bad, good, and great.and i beg to differ in ur view of drawing similarities to fergie (god-forbid)....for me to draw comparison agaisnt the king of all scumbags is blasphemy... rafa is never emotionally involved in the players, and would never kick a boot to a players face.... he draws the line very clearly...im here to set the style of play and the players are there to execute them (well he's fat n old...far from being a torres himself eh? NEVER EVER would he sack a player coz the player has hurt his big fat ego (like that horse racing gum chewing scumbag). Nth emotional...strictly professional...even players whu has a lot of heart....ie pennant who is a red thru n thru and who aint that bad a winger either....but due to his inability to gel into the rafa's team, he was sidelined...again...heart doesnt count (except for gerrard...c'mon we only need 1 heart dont we?) About that SIR, I said "in better manners, WHILE AF..." I just read about Benny comments in LFCtv. He said things about our Rafa. And I know Rafa is totally emotionless yet professional in his job. Just his massive ego. No offense ok. Just my opinion in this free world. This post has been edited by GulaV: Mar 5 2009, 09:52 PM |

Don't we should talk about Real first? Looking at the fixtures, I think we may get a slight advantages for United match since we have one day extra for rest.. First Real, then United, then Aston Villa. For United, first Fulham, then Inter, then us, then Fulham, then Aston Villa.
So which one do you think will Rafa prioritize? Real or United? or both? or none? I'm guessing Rafa will field mix players for Real and better lineup for United. I said better lineup because Rafa will never put teams' best eleven on the field. |

Real might go all out for next match. Personally, one away goal still not secure enough. If two, that's a different story. It might be like Bilbao vs Sevilla. Even 2-1 on first match aggregate still failed to reach final. Let's just hope for the best. I don't care if Torres not playing for Real match but we can't afford not to have him for United. We might see a boring defending game by Liv this Wednesday..
Liverpool vs United United win, everyone else screwed up. Liverpool win, we happy and Chelsea very very happy. Draw, both United and Liv will cry and Chelsea will laugh. |

Both Madrid failed to win yesterday. Good news for us? Any Real player unavailable for next match against us?
Like Solstice said, we're better as underdog, and next match we're not. Scary? |
