Can any1 tell me how big is the updatE?

Mine's already 700MB yet still 40%......ZZZZZZZzzzzz, or am i d/ling something else???

I just have a really bad feeling im gonna put it down after a month or 2.

Try Jaring, so far my connection on Jaring has been really reasonable and well though their support is slow I still get some support better than non.

Guess weather you like it or not more and more games will be put on steam or updated by steam to combat piracy and get a decent internet support rather than gameshit gamespy or some other support. The only thing that Im certain is that only blizzard games will not on steam all the others well......

I guess its possible but if you do not update it you will see bugs lots of tyranids around in your menu options setting latter in steam too.

700 meg are they patching it with some 1920 X 1080 res of cinematics that last for 2 hours or giving you game play resolution of 4096×3112, 3996×2160 or 4096×2048 resolution after patching??? where you can see if there are mosquitoes sucking eldar blood or not???

Things like crashing pirated version L4D or they never update their games.I hate to go CC sometimes.

A friend of mine got his yesterday and DL it last nite. The patch is only 300MB big...."700MB" are you sure your not dling the entire DOW2 game.....

He must have other steam games like team fortress 2 as that game also released new patch..

Ahh 300 MB seems reasonable but why few hundred megs of update thesedays patches used to be few megs and bout 20-30 are they revamping the whole game model or something? They should think bout people with slow internet connection too.

He probabaly is...however TF2 updates aren't so huge...usually its less than 100MB...

However if he was dling other stuff...his steam games list would show. I doubt it's anything else. Probably a error or maybe he's dling the entire game....

The size for dling 2 things at one time don't compile together also....which means TF2 and DOW2 would have separate graphs (I don't remmber cause I never update 2 things or more @ once since coming back to Malaysia...since streamyx is like Sh**)

But' I'm very sure it's seperated and the numbers don't count together.

But well, now with high textures, more complex effects, sounds etc the games are mammoths. It just sucks for people like us struck with tmnet.

Hopefully tonight I will be able to play early. I will keep me busy with another solo game while it's downloading

I believe it's cause this is a new game so theres still stuff they wanna take care off even after releasing beta...doesn't mean that the game isn't lousy or anything...just means they are still working on it even after finish..which is good in my opinion.

For us My ppl....yes huge arse patches are a pain..however its good to practice patience...(I'm trying my best with a couple of issues, 1 regarding my DOW2 package being delivered to my house even though it's already in my state...)

I suspect thier patches will shrink once the game has been out for abit...However all those who haven't bought it or have it already installed with the latest patch...will probably still go through the pain of updating the bloody thing....

This is the 1st time for me to see a new game with such a large patch I do not think that they should have gone gold before they fixed the game properly and leave such a big patch(fix) after the game is being released. Yes its good that they do have patches for the game but like Soul Storm and COH that they did before lets see how consistent will they be in their patches. Id rather they delay the game than delaying the patches.

No doubt that games have changed with better graphics and sound but I still do not see a need for few hundred meg patches at our current technological development. There are many more games with much better graphics and much larger battle fields but they do not have such large patches too. Maybe they just have lots of junk codes in their programming.

I think you are able to install it on 2 computers but you cant play online with 2 computers at once one have to be offline.

Understandable....but i don't know how Steam works....i heard you need to authenticate online blabla...so does it mean if i authenticate on my pc, then later install in bro's pc, he won't be able to play it?

on patches:

Relic patches have always been dodgy. I remembered the 1st DoW game where you have to download each and every of their patches to get to the latest version. You can't download just 1 file and get it over with.

I think its possible to activate the game on both computers unlike some EA games where you can only activate it once on a com. So yes both are you are able to play the game at once just that one have to be offline.

Yeah guess they are just bad with patches. *sigh*
