Looks like I'm getting the D2 instead. Phew, almost pulled the trigger on a D1 until I saw Alpha shots of WM6.5.

QUOTE(Baronic @ Feb 17 2009, 01:19 AM) if you're considerring between D2 and D1, u may wanna look at this Nah, I won't game much. Probably only some small cheap ones like Bejewelled or Dynamite.http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/938232 The PDA's mostly for calendar, contacts, multimedia (videos, Internet XM/Sirius radio) and browsing (Safari crashes waaaay too much, Opera Mobile and IE 6 on 6 should be better) So it's either the D2 (TF3D and SPD) or GSM Pre (Multiple browsers open ZOMG etc). QUOTE(Baronic @ Mar 2 2009, 07:05 PM) Got used to it, not freaking out anymore. Really nice phone with a decent OS, downloading something from the kitchen that is hopefully even better. Baronic, any way to sync "converted" (WMA) music without losing album art and categories? |

QUOTE(roticanai92 @ Mar 3 2009, 09:11 PM) yup, just use a tag editor, then insert the album art into the wma. i think. That's actually even more counterintuitive then no need to sync or stuff, just transfer to ur phone~! I ended up using the original MP3s unconverted. Windows Media Player sync works properly albeit inconsistent (sometimes stuff missing, need soft reset). However the phone's still fantastic, especially for the value I got it for. Battery life is on the short side, and the PDA itself doesn't measure % properly (I killed 10% in 15 mins! |

QUOTE(akachester @ Mar 5 2009, 09:59 AM) Maybe you might want to consider getting another 900mAH battery with desktop charger. I did consider that last time but when i bought it, the SIS desktop charger was not available to i skip the idea. Now, i am getting used to it anyway. Replacable wives? Any idea to give less RAM to "My Device" and more RAM to system memory? Opera keeps crashing after the third tab. They all use the same 192MB DDR RAM (which is why these HTCs are hot) so it should be possible... |

Anyone want to try the new 6.5 ROM?
There's a cooked "beta3" that's pretty nice. Will DL once I get home. This post has been edited by X.E.D: Mar 6 2009, 07:59 AM |

I <3 Winmo 6.5 Beta 3.
Hands-on: 1. Memory usage is slightly higher (62-65% idle the norm compared to 57-60%). 2. Honeycomb is slow, but I use Touchflo3D at the end of the day because of the Manila audio player (which is still the best on WinMo, S2P NEEDS proper artist/album browsing now) 3. The new Home screen is faster and more responsive than the sad honeycomb launcher, but still could be faster. My TouchFlo 3D was fast anyway from the start, got even faster with Diamond TF3D config. 4. For dialer, I changed to the Yota Contacts/Dialer combo from the Russian HTC MAX (4G), which is just plain SEXY. Gorgeous piece of software. Yes, the RAM usage is substantial, but it is a really good contacts app at that. p/s: Yota contacts is bound to my Home Screen right softkey so I can launch it quickly after phone startup, so any access is instant (lightning fast) 5. Lock screen looks really nice too, with my wallpaper setting. 6. Why the hell am I using Hotlink Prepaid on a smartphone? Oh right, I'm 17(.8) so I can't apply for postpaid nor unlimited broadband. Screenshot 2 is actually the WM6.5 lock screen.
It's also easier to lock the phone now, no need to hold end-call for a long time (just go to honeycomb and left softkey) Actually, using the native WinMo 6.5 Titanium home screen, RAM usage is about 55%, which is really nice. But I miss TF3D too much. xD Last screen is the new 6.5 Facebook app. It is leaked for normal 6.1 usage, so if you're a FB whore you can find it on most major PPC news sites. Hmm... Mobile Shell 3 has the sexiest animations, but the design needs some work (Times New Roman font wtf)
TF3D v3 is really a nice app, look forward to using it, but I really want more than 18 appliction slots (which they probably won't change unless they did so on the Touch HD version) WM6.5's Titanium homescreen and honeycomb are still atrociously slow and laggy relative to those 2 up there, but the design is indeed an impressive step up from what you consider a MS product. Hopefully it's just the betaness that's causing all this. Oh, and Sprite Terminator sounds like a fantastic app. GPS tracking for those who steal my phone? My Diamond lasted 1.75 days on standby and usage before going to 0. Without 3G. With 3G it was half (0.8 of a day). This post has been edited by X.E.D: Mar 14 2009, 11:34 AM |

Nice app there!
However, I don't think CPU usage affects battery that much compared to radio mode. Watching TV episodes, gaming and playing audio in HTC audio manager (TF3D) still gave me ample batt life compared to 3G. I'm not entirely sure of this one, but I swear the phone also ran slightly cooler (just mildly warm, no biggie at all) The Auto 3G toggle in some TF3D versions (presumably ported from newer ones) doesn't work properly either, so I said screw it and turned it off once and for all. Not the best choice but I can live with it until I take a proper postpaid plan with Singtel. (The 3G problems weren't just battery life too; with 3G detected and the Diamond hopping onto that network, reception was horrendous and some times it kept switching back and forth.) Of course if you DO use 3G like in Celcom or Maxis' unlimited plans, you should def keep it. I initially registered on just to see how Maxis coverage was in Melaka (ugh), but at the end it kept sapping power quite badly. Plus, per-use charges are really horrendous, that I wouldn't dare to use it either, lol. Will try 1.1+ Radios later on, see if there's any change. Used 1.09 mainly because that was the general consensus' favorite. Oh, and the 900mAh battery itself needs some buttkicking, too. Considering Mugen Power's 2000 batteries. Actually there's an even nicer (IMHO) SIP Keyboard using predictive PinYin, with the HTC VGA skins.
You need to install the YaHei font first, or another Asian font (but Yahei looks the best on hi-pix density screens) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411650 It's in this thread, second post. This post has been edited by X.E.D: Mar 16 2009, 10:37 PM |

I wonder if I should sell now first, and wait for a Zune HD.
Usage statistics show that push mail and phone functions are barely utilized. Aww. |

TD2 is gonna start retailing in Taiwan for about ~650USD.
So the TD isn't that great of a deal as a first hand purchase |

Now we have to share a forum with those dumbphones? How literally disgusting!
Flashed to uDK Windows Mobile 6.5 build 21500. SUUUUPER CUUUUN. Everything on the homescreen is smooth now. RAM usage with Titanium homescreen: only 50+%. Never exceeds 60%. Wow. Honeycomb isn't THAT smooth yet, but it's way better. Appreciated. I'm gonna test out custom themes next! There's one that looks fantastic. |
