It's not a bug. It's part of the game. You're supposed to be the boss in the game. All you need to do is just to wait in the room for the other player to come in.

If you defeat him, you'll get the monk's hat. (I doubt you'll ever want to wear it though...).

The reason you got the souls most probably the player didn't manage to make it to the top of the tower to meet you and died along the way...

Just completed the game not too long ago... need to take a break from this already. Haha. Will continue to hunt for trophies later when there's more time. Need to play some relaxing games for now... haha.

lvl 50 is more than enough. i took him at 20+, but got help la...

hurm, it worked for me, though i hv to repeatedly kill myself around 20-30 times. mebe ur having the same problem like me, u dont see the tendency changing? why if that's the case then try to travel back to nexus and open up ur tendency menu, see if it's changing or not
