On the Keane deal, yeah, it does look like they're trying to cut their losses on the player. But isn't 12mil a fair value to pay for a proven EPL striker? Would he have cost a lot less had he gone in June? I doubt so. The Defoe injury forced Spurs' hand, or I doubt there would have been any takers this window, but in the close season, if he really wanted to go, I reckon many clubs would be wanting to take an accomplished striker in. Economic considerations was not the sole reason he left imo, Rafa wanted him off after welcoming him quite happily few months ago.
Here's a point to ponder. Pool's last game of the season is against Spurs at Anfield. Imagine if the race goes down to the wire, with Pool needing a win. Leading 1-0 with injury time to go, "you know who" pops out and finishes an exquisite strike. Friend of mine who's a Pool fan related this to me, and he swears to God he'll shave off his pubes if this happens.

You could almost write it up!
12M probably is fair value but as you know, in the summer clubs will be more likely to play hard ball with us especially if we are keen to offload him. Like you said, Defoe's injury meant Spurs were willing to close the deal at 12M + add ons. In the summer, we might only have been able to get 10M - 12M.
As for Spurs at Anfield on the last game, if the race does go to the wire and Keane scores against us, I'd personally still be a happy Red fan coz at least we pushed all the way. I'd be gutted of course, but I'd rather have the opportunity to be able to say 'so near yet so far' rather than 'out in December as usual'

Errm I am not sure who that post is directed to but if I think it's directed to a particular person that I think it is, I do agree. It's too rigid. I always thought M.U.S.T is a place where M.U fans talk about anything football and not just anything United. Especially given the league standings, Liverpool's form and transfer dealings do have a bearing (however insignificant

) it has. Heck, let's talk about Inter winning F all so far

In case you're still wondering, my comment definitely wasn't directed at you. Disparaging remarks about Liverpool in this thread is to be expected as you and Hevrn have correctly pointed out. What ruffled my feathers was that we were having a decent discussion and someone ups and goes 'fish off' for discussing Liverpool.
Like you said, if MUST solely focused on Utd as if it played football in a vacuum, this place would be boring as hell. I'd definitely not bother if that was the direction of discussion here.

And you're telling me on a Sunday morning, you wouldn't go to Sky or Soccernet to check who's at the top of the table?
They are in equal measure as obsessed with out 17 as we are about their 18. Both parties just too shy to admit the mutual obsession
And please lah, LYN fans need to use their heads. You go to RAWK and you hear someone calling Ferguson a blue-nosed cnut, smile. You go to the Caf and hear someone hoping Liverpool gets relegated, smile. It's better than the piss poor attempts of the rivals' here insulting one another 'glory hunters.' Jesus, by that definition, any supporter of any big four clubs under the age of 20 is a glory hunter?

Too True!
