@deodorant,
beavis68 wrapped his i3GS @ Low Yat and from what I see the person who wrapped it did a pretty good job.  U might want to check with beavis68/neekun where they did the wrapping from.
*
If you are talking about wrapping with those 'plastic film', then it is cheaper at Digital Mall, section 14, PJ. However, the workmanship is at best 90% satisfactory(by my standards).

what kinda material is that? RM60 is quite cheap since it's including workmanship.

anyway, just wrapped my 3G with SGP shield yesterday. tried IS previously and i can say it's much better than IS. the screen protector that comes with the package is superbly clear and the application process is much easier. (corners are easier to stick on)

smile.gif
*
That's why I chipped in. At Digital Mall, Section 14, it is only RM30 for the transparent film, front and back. At least that was the price when I had it done about 5 months ago. For those with patterns, if I remember correctly, it's RM10 more. So, it's worth making the trip there. But the caveat here is the workmanship.

I now have the Boduguardz on and if you apply nicely, it actually is a sight to behold, if I can use that descriptive sentence. Tried SGP shield but though easier to apply, not as durable as BG. Invisible Shield is very diificult to put on.

price (in rm) as well?

One of our forummers, Twinkles, is selling a sleeve/pouch similar to this which is quite nice. It is called 'illuzion', IINM. Why don't you check his thread out? But if you have any shields like IS, BG or perhaps SGP on, you may not be able to slip the phone in.

no its doesn't. but the case itself came with a thin, plastic protection at the round opening area showing the logo.
*
Bro teikwing, I think what you mentioned is what he was referring to as logo protection. Most casings with the circular opening for the apple logo do come with a round plastic film but some don't.

Yea.. Kinda hard to decide. I know. I weighed both pro and cons. I still can change later. No worried =D But for now I'll be using SGP shield with pouch.
Who got extra 1 fat protection wanna donate to me? laugh.gif
*
I have toyed with the idea of just having a pouch or sleeve to put my iPhone in but protection thence is only when you are not using the phone. It is when you are using/handling the phone that the exposure of drops is great. Therefore, I have decided to have a case in place even though I have applied BG.

I have a number of cases and the most compromised ones in terms of less bulk are the silicone cases. There are many in the market you can go for. Spend some time shopping for them and you will probably find at least one to serve the tri purpose of aesthetics, limited bulk and protection, not necessarily in that order.

Though I have not tried the imitation ones and there are lots in the market, it may well be worth checking them out, the prices of which can be for some, 15% of the original.

so bro PeeEl , where will you suggest to start our pouch/case hunting? hmm.gif
*
For starters, check out the GS here. There are many (re)sellers offering cases, both original and imitation, for sale. The other resource would be the Digital Malls, particularly Low Yat where you will be spoilt for choice.

Happy 'hunting' and shopping!

Thanks for reply.
But let's say if i got a case, do i still need a pouch? or vice versa...
sorry if this is a noob question.
*
It is not a noob question, it is a question which can only be answered by yourself as it has to do with preference and how, in this case, paranoid you are.

There are people who leave their iPhones as they are, without any protection. So, if you think it's good to wear a singlet under your shirt, it's your prerogative to do so and no one can tell you, you are silly to do so in this weather of ours.

Hope you get the drift.

Thanks for the heads up smile.gif IMHO, even with a thin screen protector, if you dropped it hard enough the screen protector can't really help with shattered glass anyway. That's why I chose Rebel cases, it's the only one that I can find with sufficient drop protection on the corners.
*
On the contrary. There out many cases that provide sufficient protection. But because one has to consider other factors vis-a-vis aesthetics, bulk and what not, the choice is squarely on the shoulders of whoever is deciding. That is why you don't see me recommending specific ones.

Even the silicone cases which are easy to put on provide fair protection from drops but make sure they are good quality ones and thick enough. One important issue to take cognizance of, for me anyway, is the fact that hard plastic/polycarbonate casings do scratch your iPhone particularly, at the chrome bezel. So, decide prudently.

Nowadays, screen protectors especially those more costly ones are re-usable. All you need to do is wash them thoroughly before re-applying. In any event, they are now many cheap but good SPs in the market.

Hi guys, I am looking for a silicon case which doesn't adds too much bulk and won't block my fingers when I am scrolling thru the screen while playing games or doing normal stuff, currently I am looking at the iSkin Solo, any other recommendations?? And anybody use iSkin Solo before?? Isit any good??
*
Available silicone cases available in the market presently are much like the iSkin Solo that you mentioned, the cutting, I mean. They have to have the sides covering the chrome so as to 'latch' on to the phone unlike some plastic or polycarbonate ones where it needs only to come up to the sides of the chrome bezel as they are tight and can 'clamp' on to the phone. The downside to this is it will scratch the chrome bezel.

is there any wrist band for iphone? You know... something like those in cameras where you can put the tie/band around your wrist to avoid the camera falling down if it slipped from your hand.

I need this cause my kids will be playing them all the time and I don't want them to drop the phone. Ouch.
*
You mean hand strap?! There's no such thing for the iPhone as there's no place on the phone you can tie it to.

However, there is a silicone case by PDair where there are holes at the back of the case for you to tie a strap. Go and check it out.

Firstly, good of you to chip in and help but can I just quote some 'cliches'?......'Seek and ye shall find', 'God helps those who help themselves' and 'If you want something bad enough, do it yourself', in this context, search for yourself.

Under the circumstances, those 'sayings' are appropriate. The only caveat is that if one has vet through all the threads and could not find the answer, then and only then should he/post the equiry, not if one finds it too tedious to read the compilation of posts.

Not sure about the SE Rebel. But as for the Capsule Neo, with SGP Shield on, you would struggle to put it on.

So true, the urge to always look around and find a nicer one is always there. I'm currently only using the anti-glare protector for the front, and a pouch for the whole iphone. Iphone i believe should b used 'as naked as possible'. Otherwise wats the point they spent years to design the exterior? For you to cover it  tongue.gif ?

Added on August 9, 2009, 10:34 am

wats the point? double protection? don't u think it's abit overdone?
*
On your first point, can I then ask you why are there so many manufacturers coming out with tons of casings for the iPhones?

Then why bother to wear an underwear when you have your pants on (I however know some people who don't)? I am not nit-picking but just stressing the point that it is to each his own as some are over-protective over their assets and some don't care too much at all.

QUOTE(janson_kaniaz @ Aug 9 2009, 07:34 PM)
Manufacturers come out with tons of casings bcoz there is DEMAND. and the reason for the high DEMAND is bcoz ppl THINK there should b another layer to protect the iphone. and as many of us know, tats not the main thing to consider when choosing the casing, it's the design/color tat we look at 1st. so now i'm asking if you have a car, do you buy a case for it too? I believe cars have higher possibility of external damage than an iphone.

As to why we should wear underwear (i dun believe you compare yourself, a being, to an iphone) when we have another pantS on, is bcoz we r HUMAN. if u feel comfortable not wearing it, then dun, many wear it bcoz they feel comfortable doing so. unless now u r telling me ur iphone tells u it feels comfortable having double protection.  hmm.gif
*
I was of 2 minds as to whether I want to afford a reply given that either you totally missed the point or you just plain do not get it, not to mention your, for want of a better word, silly example of a case for a car which I can actualy answer but don't even want to go into.

In your second paragraph and to a certain extent even the first para, you have actually concurred with the point I was stressing and so many others as well and that is PREFERENCE, to each his own (just like the underwear example I cited - there are people who choose due to their own reason not to wear them). So, there you go, everyone can decide whether they want a casing for their iPhone and no one, least of all you, should question why anyone would want one on. I rest my case.

Like teikwing said, the SGP Shield's provided screen protector is quite scratch resistant, how then can the screen be scratched? For that matter if you have a sp applied, generally the screen cannot be scratched. Why are you asking such a question?

My apologies...I did not read the rest of the thread before posting.

Anyway, it takes a lot to scratch the SP that comes bundled with SGP Shield, IS or BG.....

I'm pretty fussy when I come to choose an iPhone case. I've heard about a custom made Swarovski case from an international seller called "DSStyles".

I want to have something grand and elegant as it is for my girlfriend's iPhone 3GS whose 18 year-old birthday is coming and don't want to let her down. The case there looks cool. But I don't know what it exactly looks like when it's on her hand. Does any one tried on their Swarovski before? Are the Swarovski crystals really that shine?

Anyone can help? Any comments and suggestions please.
*
Just read in some of the Apple products sites that in Japan someone is selling handcrafted iPhone hard cases, embellished with gold and it costs one thousand dollars each. Perhaps, you should get your girlfriend that since you want it to be special, that is of course, if you want to spend that kind of money on a case. Won't that be really special now?

hi guys,

just wondering whether the color (silver) of the chrome bezel and also the button will wear off after prolong usage?

Also, next time if we want to remove the SGP shield and replace with a new one, removing that shield.. will it cause the apple logo color to come off as well?.. Are the logo and words painted on the back of the phone..
Sorry.. i didnt manage to check this as after getting the phone, I straight away apply the shield...

thx..
*
The chrome of the bezel will not wear off unless under severe scratching or sanding or subjected to chemicals. As for the home button, if used normally, it should also not wear off.

The apple logo and wordings are hot ironed onto the case and therefore would not peel, even if you remove any protective shields from them. So, don't be unduly concerned.

Like so many questions posted by so many forummers which cluster our forum here, yours are are just as subjective though not as so as some. More often than not such questions are ignored and rightly so. The people here do not know your taste/preference so how can we answer you?

I implore everyone not to pose questions of this nature anymore and urge those more learned ones not to provide answers which take up unnecessary space.

Do not mean to be disruptive but for the good of the community here, I can't but raise this point.
