I got bought an iPhone 3G but don't like the casings as they add bulk. Where did you skin yours and is it both sides? How much did you pay and result?

I may resort to that as well but I want clear film for the whole phone. I like the Bodyguardz but don't think I am proficient enough to install it. Do you (or anyone out there) happen to know where I can buy with installation as well?

Hi, bro. I am not very sure as I wasn't looking for casings when I went browsing at the Machines, Sunway Pyramid but I thought I saw the Griffin iClear there. Perhaps you could go and check it out. Like I said, I am not sure but when you have the time go for a look see.

For normal mobile phones, it is alright to skin the entire unit. But for touch screen phones, generally speaking they will just 'skin' the back and for the screen, a screen protector is applied and in your case you can opt for the mirror effect one.

It won't affect any part of the phone but of course you can't compare this with the likes of IS, BG or SGP Shield.

Perhaps you can give it a try. It is cheaper at the Digital Mall, Section 14. To 'skin' the back cost just RM20. But keep an eye on the girl who does it there as she can be erratic in her workmanship. Tell her exactly what you want her to do.

Bro G, like that very 'dangerous'. Why don't you go and 'skin' it with a transparent film? At least it can help prevent scratches and it is cheap....costs only RM20 for the back. I did mine at Digital Mall, Section 14 but alas it is not perfect but ok lah.

No can do, cpyew. Sold the phone already, sorry. But IMHO for RM20, it's worth giving it a try but note that a blade will be deployed to trim off at the edges so there is a slight risk involved.

If really interested, check it out at the place I mentioned but harp on the 'carefulness' with the girl doing it there.

For smart buys, one has to scout around. Having said that, at my recommended place, not the complete chrome bezel is covered.

But totally without any protection will subject your phone to scratches. IS, BG and SGP Shield are hard to apply. So, perhaps for a cheap peace of mind, do what I suggested.

I forgot to mention something earlier and it is that the transparent film makes the phone less slippery to hold.

Any casing will make the iPhone bulky. It is more whether you can accept it.

SGP Shield is a transparent 'film' like Bodyguardz and Invisible Shield. I think you were thinking about SGP Case.

Btw, SGP Shield is thinner than the other 2 products mentioned above.

To answer your initial question and this are strictly my personal views, the best of the shields is SGP, next comes BG and though IS provides relatively better protection, simply becasue it is the thickest of the three, it becomes unsightly as it attracts dirt and lint very easily.

To me, after applying a shield and keeping your phone in a case is not over-protective. This is just, to each his own. Applying this same maxim, the choice of casing is strictly based on your preference and liking as they all will provide protection.

So, go ahead and you can dash around in your hospital without too much of a care. But don't bump into the nurses. Cheers.

iPhone is no longer a limited commodity. Therefore, you can go to any of the phone shops and its SP is easily available. You will find plenty in places like Low Yat, Digital Mall at Section 14, PJ and even Sungai Wang, I believe.
