I heard so many complain that this phone is a bit slow. has the new firmware made it faster? considering this as a gift as I like the design
*
N79 is slow?? U must be kidding, with the new firmware, My N79 now is even speedier and works like a charm. Actually I've been looking around for a new phone for the past 1 months or so, nothing wrong with my N79, just "gatal" to change to a new phone, most probably a touchscreen phone. BUT, after doing my survey, I decided to stick with N79 for the moment, unless I want to spend RM2000 for an upgraded phone. N79 has it ALL, plus a good camera, GPS. email (push email and Nokia messaging), facebook, myspace, twitter, flickr, YM,WM, modern looking, nice size and light.

I really dont know why people are so proud telling me they are using Blackberry and E-series Nokia for business/email purposes. I can do ALL that with my N79 too, no problemo. N79's camera is way better than E71 , HTC's and ALL Blackberry phones. And its symbian, where there tonnes of free software I can installed. Now my N79 is my internet radio, really loved this feature.

Cheers

I dont wanna be a pain but for the price u pay vs the N97 is whole alot of differences. I not so how to upload picture using N79 to facebook as most of the pictures last time i manually put it up the pc,do some editing than only post it to facebook.
*
sometimes i really really lazy to transfer photos to my notebook coz i don bring my cables out, and my notebook got no card readers. so its easy to use mobile upload. Also, i know N97 has alot of difference, but wad's so hard of a software? so the price difference of RM1k and i cant have facebook mobile on my N79? tat's ridiculous.

But i think they will just say wait for a new firmware update only.
It's nothing much can change if only firmware update.

nope, don't think this phone supports USB charging.

anyway guys, I had some problem here. when I try to copy a contact from the phone to the sim card, at first it looks like it had been copied.
but when I tried to view the sim contacts the other time, the previous number was not there. I had tried to copy the contact to the sim few times, but then it will disappear from sim. what should I do now?

one more thing, my phone got a problem to recognize the contact especially when receiving sms. the problem also happened when receiving calls sometimes. how to solve the problem?

1) Did u marks all>options>create backup>phone to memory card. (u will saw all contact been store in memory card, inside others folder.)

2) Contact name cannot shown is because of u had double save in both sim and phone memory of ur contacts.

btw, i love the fm transmitter feature.... a feature you seldom in recent models.. (except N series, but then again, they are not as good as n79)

Added on October 5, 2009, 2:46 pmAny of u tried use GarminXT in KL area before?

Do u facing problem like losing signal easily, navigate slow on ur exact position, always re-calculate route when u pass by fly-over and split route not shown clearly & did not tell which road to use (for example : go straight got 2 road, 1 is going up and 1 is down.) ?
*
been using garmin xt for a while....share some experience
sometimes u get weak signal, but not very often. i was told this is due to satelite signals not because of n79... it happens some times. but most of the time, the software run ok for me.

the voice navigation is sometimes misleading & sometimes no responsive to the current situation (delay). so, not really reliable. suggest u look at the screen, look at the map. it's more accurate.

hope this helps

both have physical keypad actually, just 5730XM has slide QWERTY keyboard. but it lacks 5MP camera  doh.gif
*
despite the camera, 5730 also doesn't have fm transmitter.

but i do like the qwerty key board rolleyes.gif
and, since xpress series, the music is supposingly better than n79.

anyway i do just fine with n79 music quality.

Guys, I have traded in my beloved N79 with Samsung Omnia i900 yesterday. Did it with a heavy heart, but cant resist the temptation pf a touchscreen phone and big screen. Furthermore, the shop willing to take my N79 for RM650.00, which I think is a good deal coz I bought it for RM950 last May.

However, N79 camera is much better than Omnia, but, I guess there's no single handphone that has it ALL.

cheers
