Hello to all the sifus here. Just bought my gen2 cps, should get by this week. My 1st car so very excited! This thread so active... I read from 1st page, in 1 hour got 10 new posts already. Haha... My car is 2008, but the agent say the promo only 2k discount... some more he show me the stock list from proton, say very few units left only as they clearing stock and production for the Exora. Worst is that only color avl is the black one. Dunno whether kena con or not. When I take delivery will try to ask for some freebies. Very noob about cars so hope can help me with some questions: I see ppl saying want BOT the car... what's that? Where to get R3 parts? I see can install R3 spring w/o voiding warranty. Will do if not too exp. The prices quoted here got include installation? Also dunno the diff btw strut bars... front, back, under-arm, 2-point, 3-point... Are they exp? I only bought a RM60 one before for my mom's kelisa that connects to 2 sides under the bonnet. Seems like so many things to mod for this car... I slowly kena poison also... Anyway, can add me in this list:
norseman - nanbo black - **** - AT
MT seems more fun and powerful, but driving in KL jam I dun wan step clutch until leg cramp. Like yesterday's flood jam, so scary...
Dun even know my plate no. yet, haha... Register in Johor but will be using in KL. Can anyone recommend a good service center around Maluri or PJ?

Thanks sphiroth! Just out of curiosity, AT cars can use BOT also? Will it affect the gearshift? Car is an exp hobby... just detailing alone like glazing and sealing also so much money... Haha...

Ya... I checked with NS they also say extractor and camshaft for CPS still under R&D. If 3rd party SC service, can still claim warranty? As long as Proton authorised right?

QUOTE(zenwarlord @ Mar 5 2009, 08:08 AM) AT can BOT but u need to have ATF cooler for ur AT transmission. To get optimum result of BOT u need to change ur torque converter as well. But getting a correct torque converter wil cost u some time and numerous of study as well as $.
Not only Turbo kit, u need to change ur fuel injectors, piggyback, compession ratio, fuel pump, fuel regulator, entire exhaust system and braking of course. With all the above parts changed, u still unable to run at high boost that's mainly ur engine internal part will lost the reliability. So changing internal part for campro will be like customisation.
So to conclude, if want turbo, buy turbo car. As to the ride, should I change the springs first or add struts? If can't get R3, are there any other comparable springs?

From paultan.org:
This is how the new Proton Campro CPS works. The CPS system integrated both cam profile switching (CPS) and a variable intake manifold (VIM). VIM switches between a long intake manifold at low RPMs and a short intake manifold at higher RPMs. According to Proton, a longer intake manifold is used at low RPMs to achieve slower air flow; this promotes better mixing with fuel. The short intake manifold allows more air in faster. This is beneficial at high RPMs. This seems to be slightly different compared to the usual VIM system where intake manifold width is also varied to control air velocity, and velocity tries to be maximised, but the idea behind the CPS VIM seems to be not wanting the air to go in as fast as possible at low revs to promote air-fuel mixture? Whatever it is, it seems to work, as the VIM does not stand alone but works with all the other engine systems together over different RPMs.
The CPS system uses a switching tappet and a trilobe camshaft to switch between two different cam profiles. One cam profile provides low valve lift, while the other cam profile has a high valve lift. The low valve lift cam profile is used at engine speeds of under 3,800rpm to maintain idling smoothness and ensure lower emissions, while the high lift cam profile is used when the engine is spinning more than 3,800rpm to improve peak horsepower and torque.
Using this two performance-improving systems, Campro CPS engine basically runs in three modes at any one time:
Engine Speed CPS VIM 0 to 3,800rpm Low Lift Long Runner 3,800rpm to 4,800rpm High Lift Long Runner Above 4,800rpm High Lift Short Runner
The result is 125 horsepower (93kW) at 6,500rpm and 150Nm of torque at 4,500rpm compared to the non-CPS Campro’s 110 horsepower (82kW) at 6,000rpm and 148Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Engine displacement is 1,597cc, bore and stroke is 76mm x 88mm and the compression ratio is 10.0:1. To handle the higher power and torque output, the Campro CPS engine has an additional oil cooler.
Zenwarlord: is this what you're wondering about?

Won't work for me, cuz my office is right next to the Std Chart building! And HSBC is directly opposite. And Maybank and CIMB and Ambank branches all nearby! Haha... But I didn't know SC is not under MEPS... Either way, I think still need to budget properly for my car. One a/c for running expenses and one for the poison. Luckily the extractor and camshaft not out yet else even more stuff to consider. BTW guys, I know that air filter is generally OK, but would changing the extractor void engine warranty?
