Hi mates,

My maltese is 4 months plus, finished all vaccination. I wonder if it's ok to feed him with bones once in a while. Aren't dogs suppose to chew on bones (maybe eat them too)??? Please let me know ok. Thanks.

Bones are ok PROVIDED it's raw....cooked bones are dangerous...and too much bones can cause constipation

I don't think so? I always thought bones are not good, because last time I had a normal breed dog, those breed that u see along the park...those unwanted dog. My dad always giv him eat bones n rice, but then after 7-8 years i think, he died because he not able to chew the bones fully, which cause the bones to -cucuk - out from his body

yupe....tat's cook bones caused furkid to get chocked..never give cook bones to furkids..raw bones are the best as it's soft and contains moist...ur father has feed cook bones mixed with rice, tat's wat happens...but dun mix raw bones with cooked rice...different digestion-time...later get stomach twisted rather than chocked

the bone ur dad giving are cooked or raw?

The bone is like the chicken bone left after we eat the chicken,not purpoesely cooked for him. But this is given to my large normal breed dog.
I don't give my furkids eat bones at all coz its not good for them

referring to other post... bone is good for them but not the cooked bone
I've been feeding my dog with raw food and bone together for almost a year...
and based on ur story, I assume those bones that u fed ur dog is cooked bone as u said its not purposely cook for them but the one that u guys eat. That is called cooked bone and NOT GOOD for dogs cuz the bone can choke them. but uncooked bone is softer and good for them to chew. Mine like to chew the bones and good for the teeth as well..

Hope u understand.. but no offence thou.. since me n some of us fed barf aka raw food to our kids we just want to share our knowledge to some other ppl. But if u still think that bone is dangerous then I will just let u judge it urself then

Agree.....I know some tat even giv their mid size dog lamb bones...bt of course it depends on how far ur dog can go la...bones are one source of calcium too...And for maltese,particularly long haired and white, i prefer to feed them meaty bones...

Yupe it's raw meaty bones...it's nt softer...jus tat their stomach built to digest it better...U can freeze it for a few days as it can help in killing some of the bacteria..

Alrite, will try to get those, more calcium for my Rocky, which is also the Model cover for my e-boutiques.haha

If you go to giant, carefour, etc u can see they sell chicken meat or beef meat and that is uncooked meat

eew for you,,but yummy for them...they will lick till the end..and ofcourse good for the health...the unique of BARF

I tried last time, not much different

different is their poo
if u fed barf they less poo n less smell
mine even poo only small pieces and 1 time a day only LOL

Agree....and for long white coat dogs,it wont stick to their fur everytime they poo....and they have lesser health issue as well...
