QUOTE(eugene9201 @ Nov 8 2015, 09:41 AM) Hi guys, I received a Maltese from my aunt but some people say he is a poodle not Maltese Well, even some Maltese with certs doesn't look like a Maltese. If we want one that is close to a perfect Maltese, it would cost us a bomb. I see yours looking more like a Maltese than a Poodle, most importantly be it a Maltese or Poodle or a mixed breed it is a dog and any breed of dog will love you unconditionally no matter you are good looking or average looking, rich or poor, generous or kiamsiap ![]() |

QUOTE(A-Note @ Nov 30 2015, 10:32 PM) Me too...I have two puppies, they are 4 months old now and still have 3rd vaccine left. When I found ticks on their body for the first time I thought it was just normal bugs so I pick it with my hand and throw it away. After that I found it on their body for a few more time so I search online and found out those were ticks... Brought them to the vet and bought Front line for RM 90... he said can last for one month but after four days I found one big fat tick full with blood (the one looks like bean) on my floor... Anyone know how can I get rid of them? Heard that bathing them with apple vinegar works but because my dog are still puppies, I'm scare just to use any method... And would appreciate if anyone can recommend vet at Subang Jaya area. Thanks a lot in advance. |

Are you using frontline spray or frontline spot on? Frontline spray is supposed to kill ticks you managed to spray on but it is difficult to kill ticks not directly sprayed on and of course not possible to kill ticks not attached to the dog's body. As for frontline spot on it is a tube form where you apply it near the neck of your dog and it should kill all ticks attached to the dog's body. Spray will wears off overtime and after bath, spot on will remains effective around 1 month if you read and follow instructions on the labels.
Personally, I prefer frontline spot on Combo. I'm not sure whether the market still selling frontline spot on "without combo" but last time it used to have frontline spot on & frontline spot on combo. From my understanding, frontline combo will kill both the ticks + the eggs hence more effective compared to non combo which the egg might hatch later. Do take note that the main issue will be the ticks around your house. Worst if they have nest inside your house. If that's the case, you will need to constantly apply tick prevention products on your dog until you no longer find any tick on your dog for some time. At the same time, I strongly recommend you to search around your house for their nest if you noticed that the problem is getting worst even with tick prevention products applied on your dog after a month. I'm not an expert hence I'm only able to share my personal experience with you. Perhaps you can research more for more information. Subang Jaya I usually visit Mayo Vet at USJ10 Taipan. |

I used frontline spot on and now I add the ticks prevention collar too. I don't see any ticks on my puppies now but we have many stray dogs and cats around our area... Hopefully I can get rid of the ticks soon. I will search around to see if there is any nest too. Thanks for sharing your experience. Really appreciate it!Personally, I prefer frontline spot on Combo. QUOTE(KotoriItsuka @ Dec 26 2015, 10:16 AM) Generally, if you are the type of person who is reluctant to do research, I would personally suggest to avoid hypermarket brands and ask seek for advice from pet shops.Since you asked here, I believe you are one who is willing to put some effort to do some research. A tips: Ignore whatever written in front of the packaging as most of the time, it is meaningless. Flip to the back and look for the ingredients. It is required to list the highest percentage ingredient first, followed by second highest, and so on. As a rule of thumb, if the first ingredient is meat based, such as "chicken, fish or lamb", it means the producer is willing to put in better ingredients but if the first ingredient is plant based then you yourself should judge whether it is to save costs or they believe plant based is better for dogs. Of course, second and third ingredients are important too. You might want to do further research how "chicken, chicken meal and chicken flavor" are very much different. If you are willing to research up to what I mentioned, basically you will be able to differentiate which dog food is made of expensive ingredients and which are cost savings. Which ingredients are best for your dogs you might ask? Purchase what you deemed best within your budget after conducting research, after that, experience will tell. Good luck! |
