You fed Miki with barf rite? try to wipe the mouth area after meal shouldnt be a problem smile.gif Sometimes I wonder why the mouth area can get dirty xD When I bring Jasmine back her mouth also super dirty but after I shave the mouth area there now she got no problem with dirty mouth. I've been spoon feed autumn and now Jasmine for their meal. Never let them eat themself unless I feed them kibbles. Since I'm the type who doesnt like to see them so dirty I prefer to spoon feed them tongue.gif This will also helps a bit thou hehehe

I love both short cut and long hair maltese but I prefer to keep it long as for me maltese does looks awesome and elegant with their silky long hair. Keeping it long really need a lot of patient and time and also effort? xD esp if the dogs like to play rolling and wrestling laugh.gif

QUOTE(Divas @ Feb 22 2011, 10:17 PM)
If you have time to just do a little trimming every now and then, pick up a pair of 'thinning shears' from a hairdresser supply shop. The way they cut will keep everything even as not every hair is cut all at once. However if you are taking a lot of coat off in one go, they will take a very very very long time to finish.

Also remember, if you are planning to groom at home, all dogs need their nails and ears checked once every week or 2. If the nails don't grind down themselves (they usually don't for toy breeds) you will have to cut them (read up on how to do it and the tools you need first as you can cut through something called the 'quik' in the nail which will bleed and often hurt). If there is wax or hair in the ears it needs removing every week to make sure infections don't happen.
If you can't handle nail cutting and ear cleaning, a trip to the groomer for a basic groom would be necessary around once a month at least to keep everything healthy (a lot of people are under the impression that a groomers main job is to cut the coat and make a dog look 'cute', however in my opinion the health related grooming procedures (cutting nails, cleaning ears, checking skin and expressing anal glands) are much much more important). If you can manage it yourself then fantastic, maybe visit a groomer every now and then to give the coat a good neaten (if you go to a professional groomer they will also let you know if there is any skin issues/ear infections or other nasty things lurking around). smile.gif

Usually I sent them to groomers when I need a cut but this time I'm thinking to cut is my self, other than saving money I might learn a bit from experience? I plan to take grooming course in the future so I guess give my own dogs a hair cut every now and then is part of my own training smile.gif I do understand bout the basic grooming so no worries about that. The scissors I use is actually for trimming the paws area and I do have clipper but using scissors is better for me.. I'm thinking to find a scissors that I saw in some grooming videos, not the complete set but at least I can use to cut the hair nicely as the scissor that I have is too small and made my hands pain while cutting her thick fur @.@

any good recommendations for groomers? lol
*
Hahaha where do u usually went for grooming? I've only tried Pets Icon and House of Groomer and for me both also quiet good but I've been with HOG ever since I got autumn cause it's nearer to my place. I guess u should try our own which one is best for your dog? There's one at Aman Suria but I forgot the name, my friend went there and it's also have good feedback smile.gif

First cycle should be around 6 months old or above and I think it depends on each dog. Some already came when the pup is about 8 months but autumn 1st cycle came after she's about 1 year plus then 8 months later is her 2nd heat. I did try to record the date thou..

When autumn had her 1st heat, she turn into 1 small baby that could never be apart from me. She even whines for me to carry her up and sit on my lap -.-""

now she already like apply super glue stick to me....  rclxub.gif
up till the point that i need to watch out if she long time didnt go to the pad to urine or not and carry her there if not she will rather hold it in probably until she gets an "accident"....
i wonder how to remove this "super super glue" from her....  blink.gif
thank goodness she wont bark/make noise when i'm not around.... *touchwood* hope it wont happen....
*
You could teach her the 'pee/toilet' command. Autumn some times will hold her pee as well. But when she thinks she couldn't hold it anymore she will whine or sort of telling me (when she was on my bed or when she doesnt see any pad within indoor area). She wont dare to simply pee inside my room or my bed so if she got chance to sleep with me she will pee before go to bed hahaha

Seraph pees on any cloth surface she can get if i dun bring her to the pad regularly.... So I dun dare let her sleep on the bed with me anymore.... lol....
*
It could happen when we teach them to pee on wee wee pad cause they tend to think any mat or something similar is wee wee pad. Autumn was like that when she still puppy, tend to pee on my door mat instead of her toilet, even now when I let her run down stair she will purposely run to my kitchen mat n pee there while looking at me LOL last time I always scold her whenever she pee on the matt and will then bring her to her toilet. I'm not saying that she's 100% will only pee on her pad but at least she know la.... While Jasmine is gone case. She will pee on the floor if she thinks the pad is too dirty or when she thinks I'm not around and watching her. She will pee on pad if she knows u're watching her but as soon as u move ur head just for a min u will see pile of urine on the floor laugh.gif laugh.gif

around what age their full set of adult teeth finish growing? I planning to take her for scaling.... is it expensive?
*
why so early want to do scaling? scaling too much in the future also not good for their teeth. Autumn never do scaling but pluck teeth yes haha only Jasmine did once when I took her back that time. As far as I know adult teeth should be all come out below 1 year? I sent autumn for surgery cause her-most-important-teeth (those big tooth on each left n right) is double teething so need to use surgery to remove as it was quiet dangerous if simply pluck and she did that when she was about 6 months+ I think? and soon after her new adult teeth all come out, so I guess it should be finish before they reach 1 year old

Btw, when u free? I might be busy during mid of april til dunno when cause many things to do so better set up a date to do small gath 1st since this gonna be seraph's 1st gath smile.gif

double teething need to do surgery???? oh dear! her fangs are double.... she has 4 pairs of fangs now.... 2 pairs up, 2 pairs down!
i'm free this weekend.... lol.... is HAP's all pet gathering next week still on? if not we can just make it into a mini maltese gathering.... I also worry if too much dogs will stress her up....
her teeth now alot of tartar coz soaked kibbles will become more mushy so will stick to the teeth and become tartar d.... smelly mouth! but i suppose they are all baby teeth so no point to scale them as it's gonna fall sooner or later....
*
she dun like to eat kibble w/o soaking? try not to soak the kibbles and see if got improvement on her tar tar or not. The double teeth thing ar, if you dont do surgery how they gonna pluck the teeth? lol that time I did the surgery cause her fangs also double teeth and since its the most important teeth if left double like that later seem not nice and the mouth will become so smelly (double teeth = smelly mouth). When I thought they only need to pluck those 2 teeth, mana tau when I collect her in the afternoon my vet show me total of 5 teeth that kena plucked and autumn looks like those old dog with no teeth cause the tongue keep on coming out LOL

HAP gath I'm not sure if its still on cause no update there. We see how lo then we decide smile.gif

for surgery, gasing or yeoh is better ah?coz i'm familiar with yeoh.... my female basset spayed in yeoh 1....
*
So far I only went to Mayo ( when small prob like allergy or not so dangerous sickness) cause its nearer, not so expensive and vet also good. While gasing is when need to go big surgery or those reli big prob (went scaling there) and I will made appointment to seek Dr. Prem.

I've never been to Yeoh so I can't comment anything, its best for you to ask around between 2 vets in term of their price and service? For me last time I went to Mayo cause my friend recommend me plus that time any hard to find dentist for dogs so I went there and so far I'm okay with Mayo service cause the doc also good and I'm satisfied with him smile.gif
