Oh, so you're at ShineNShield now?? lol..

Was told 4:30-5pm as well, but ended up I had to wait till 6.!!

Did you take any before and after pics of your car? I tried taking some "before" right before i sent my car in, but it wasn't very clear, the sunlight was too bright, thus all you can see in the picture is just sunlight reflecting off my 2-day old paint.!!

I'm sending my car in for my first service on Wednesday, was told my by SA that the SC will wash our cars for us. Maybe i'll post my "after" pics then.!

Yeah, have to do a maintenance in 6 months time - they will put a sticker in your car to remind you when is it due... I was told it'll cost RM100..

You will still have to wash with car shampoo, else the dirt won't come off. But yes, the dirt does come off much easier. I'm still using the car shampoo I have at home first, once that's finished then maybe I'll buy the shampoo which they sell at ShineNShield...
*
Yea, I'm in ShineNShield now..haha! Dunno what to do except walk in and out and see the cars.
Now they're applying the PPS to my car. Just now think they washed it and dried it.
Hard to take cos like urself, of the sunlight.. the car looks very shiny already. My paint's like 1 week old.. so I don't think there will be much of a differences..hehe! hope they can polish off the scuff marks near my front bumper. Dunno how it ended up there..

Say if we don't do the maintenance in 6 months, does that mean that the warranty will be void?
RM100 for 6 months.. hmm, ok la..think not so bad.. if wax outside also quite expensive..hehe

Thank goodness got lunch kaki after this, think quite boring after 2 hrs here already.
Will come back maybe at 2:30pm.

Haha, I see.!! I know what waiting is like, i sent my car in, and i went back at 4pm thinking i'd only have to wait 30 mins - 1 hour, and I was already bored to death after 20 mins.. lol..

After the PPS you will see how water runs off the paint of your car very nicely.! I haven't tried having tree sap/bird droppings on my car, so can't comment on the difference it makes yet... But dust and other dirt will still accumulate on the surface of your paint even with PPS... Therefore you'll still need to wash and shampoo every now and then to ensure that the surface is thoroughly clean after that...

I didn't ask whether our warranty will be void if don't return in 6 months... Maybe you can check that with Raymond since you are there? tongue.gif In any case I was told that if the shine is still very nice and glossy, you can even go back after 8 months.. What I am not sure is whether the warranty will still be valid if you don't go back for say, 2 years, and then suddenly go back to them with a prob..
Lol yeah... They have a small lounge with Astro, Wifi, magazines, books and drinks for customers there. Not bad eh? tongue.gif
*
Don't think we ever want to have bird droppings or tree sap on our car. Nevertheless, since this PPS doesn't stop stone chips.. might get the 3M scotchgard film to put on my bumper. Rather exp though rclxub.gif

Yea, I'll ask him a little later once my car is almost done. He seems quite busy also since he also helps out with the application of the treatment

With the 3M scotchgard - the surface of the paint will be covered to protect from stone chips, but I guess the next time send it in to ShineNShield after 6 months, they won't touch that area covered?

How much is it to do the scotchgard anyway?
*
Yah, with the 3M Paint Protection Film.. don't think at Shine N Shield they will do anything 'cos the treatment will not do anything to the 'film'.
So if you want to do it, need to ensure that your paint is glossy and clean (which I think the shop: PaintShield) will do it.

It's very expensive.. I asked them to quote me just for the (Front Bonnet, Front Bumper & Side Mirrors"

QUOTE
Honda City (2009)
1. Full Coverage Kit
- Front Bonnet
- Full Front Bumper
- Wings & Mirrors
RM 2,288 <---- Look at the price  rclxub.gif

2. Headlamps & Foglamps Protection Kit
RM 400

3.Diamondbrite Paint Protection Treatment <---------- same with PPS, but with 6 years warranty
RM 1,388

4.Diamondbrite Fabric & Carpet Protector <---- PPS also offers this, DB gives 6 years warranty too
RM 450

Total Special Price RM 3,700 (Normal Price: RM 4,726)
I might ask them to quote me again for the Full Front Bumper only since that's the price which is more prone in getting stone chips

I checked with Raymond earlier. Even if you don't go back after 6 months, the warranty is still valid.
He said for ASM, it's the easiest color to maintain. Usually can last 7 - 8 months before it needs to be "enhanced" through the maintenance.
So that's good news for us. smile.gif

Did you get a free washing cloth? The green one.
He gave me one, the big one (2 small one attached together)

and since I bought his car shampoo (RM40), he gave me another washing cloth (small one)..

Yea, exactly. I was surprised myself too.

Contact me if there's one because I'll be on my way to KL on this Friday. smile.gif

Hey Andy..
think the TT won't be taking place this coming weekend. Since we don't have a crowd at the moment.
Currently the tentative date would be the 21/2.
Hopefully by then we will have more ppl receiving their NHC.

P/s: also 'cos I might not be around this coming Sat sad.gif

Sure got! Keep the car at home and not drive it! That way confirm no stone chips. Stone chips are a part of driving and almost unavoidable, unless you have the dough to splash on Scotchgard. And if god forbid, the car gets into an accident (major or minor) on the bumper, have to peel off the Scotchgard or else cannot paint over them. After that, apply another layer of Scotchgard again ah? Lots of money spent, ain't it?

I think all of us sayang our new cars but I think we also shouldn't go overboard. Let's just enjoy the ride that our new cars will provide us and take good care of them.
*
Well, I don't think it's overboard. Spending on bodykits and rims or induction / exhaust mods will cost more than this Scotchgard. At the end of the day, I guess it's an individual preference. Some prefer a nice clean and polished stock look, that's why people put PPS or wax their car often and perhaps Scotchgard it. nod.gif

ULTRA RACING (UR)

Front Strut Bar
Mounted at the front chassis for strengthening purposes. To eliminate all the suspension noise and more stability during acceleration, hard driving and braking ( simulating race track conditions ).

Rear Strut Bar
Mounted at rear section of the car chassis (boot). Similar to the function of the front strut bar. The rear strut bar is use to support the rear section of the chassis, so that the force generated during hard braking and driving can be reduced.

Side Fender Bars
Installed at the left and right side of the vehicle wheel arch or fender. Fender bars can give extra support and strength to the chassis especially during cornering.

Room Bar
To strengthen the upper middle part of the vehicle body, at the B-pillar area.

Rear Upper Bar
Mounted at the rear passenger seat. Basically the function of a rear upper bar is used to support the rear section of the chassis, so that force generated during hard braking and driving can be reduced.

Anti Roll Bar
Anti Roll Bars (also known as anti-sway bars, sway bars or lower tie bars) affect the handling of the car on the lower end of the suspension.

Lower Arm Bar
It is installed at the lower mounting points between the left and right suspension and the vehicle chassis. Tremendously improving the stiffness at the area where the lower arm is connected to the vehicle chassis.

-available for various car model.
-life time warranty by Ultra Racing

Hi guys.. just wondering whether anybody is interested in getting some UR strut bars for your NHC?
I'm thinking of getting the 2 Point Front Strut Bar and maybe the Lower Arm Bar. So, if anybody is interested,
do let me know 'cos we can get a Group Discount if we buy more. smile.gif

*
From one of the forumers here in LYN.
1. 2-point front tower strut = RM150 -160
2. 4-point front tower strut = RM165 - 175
3. anti-roll bar 16mm = RM330 - 340
4. 4-point lower arm bar = RM190 - 200

These are the prices I've asked so far the our NHC, pre-discount. I guess if there are ppl interested, I can ask the % discount.

There's actually one bad thing about the 3M scotchgard or clear bra. If you go near the car, the protection film is quite obvious.

Also don't waste time with 2 point strut bar, want to do then do 4 point and make sure your car boot has a bar installed too. I think you can also go for 19mm instead of 16mm ARB, better handling. It's best to do this one month after you've gotten your car, that way you will feel the difference immediately.
*
Yea.. I've seen it before, and as u said.. if you go close.. you can see it. Anyhow, most likely won't be going for it. I'd probably best be spraying the bumper if I'd any chips. It'll be cheaper than the clear bra.

I'm thinking of the 4-point strut bar, front & rear lower arm bar & the anti-roll bar. does the 3mm extra (19mm and 16mm) make a big diff?
Now need to gather some members first for cheaper rates..hehe

I understand the front strut bar and lower arm bar but the rear strut bar I don't quite understand. The rear strut bar is fitted in the boot right? Wouldn't it block space meant for luggage/storage? Can be quite inconvenient right? Never seen it before, so don't know what it looks like fitted.
*
Yes, it's attached in the boot section. It will block some space in the boot, no doubt. Plus the fabric, you probably have to remove or cut it. That's why I'm not gonna put that since I don't want to sacrifice my boot space.

It's just a long piece of cylindrical bar that's fit inside the boot and it's straight unlike the room bar. It's usually placed at the very top end portion of the boot, almost touching the ceiling so there's no issues with space. Depending on the car design, there maybe screw holes for you to lock it to the chassis, otherwise, you will have to drill a small hole to lock the rear strut bar in. If you don't want to drill holes then the next best option is installing Anti-roll bar.

Added on February 9, 2009, 11:39 pm

It's at the very rear and top corner of the boot. You will not lose any boot space.
*
I took a look at the NHC's boot earlier, and I always thought you will attach it (see pic, the red color circle) there where the suspension screws are.. Do you mean you can attach it at the green color circle portion there? If so, might need to drill some holes..if I'm not mistaken

Attached Image

P/s: I apologise for the lousy pic size and poor attempt to draw..hehe!

I had mine done in the green portion, though it was in a different car. I had to drill holes. I believe you could do the same. But if you don't want to, just install ARB.
*
I see. Noted. Since if possible, I don't wanna drill any additional holes in my car, I think the ARB is better.
Btw, you did mentioned previously to get the 19mm ARBs as oppose to the 16mm.. is there a significant difference if I might ask? thanks! smile.gif

Since we're on the topic of TT, thanks for those who have replied so far..

But those who have only revert with venue, could you also choose
1) Date
2) Time

too, in addition to the Venue?
#1 is the most important..

Thanks! smile.gif
