I received 5 pizza boxes from Texas Instruments containing most essential components of my headphone amplifier project. I'll start putting it to work tomorrow.

I haven't got myself to Jalan Pasar for component shopping yet. So far I'm using the components I have in toolbox. How well does Rubycon capacitors do? I have a set of various Rubycon capacitor
It isn't Rubycon blackgate. Just YXA marking. Edit: Now that I've googled about Rubycon YXA, apparently there are imitation capacitors in the market. I have no idea of the origin of my set of capacitors. Lol... Well, lets just see then. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Dec 22 2010, 02:19 PM |

just get cheap FMs and FCs from element14.
bypass them with decent metal box caps and you'll have a very robust psu. |

TLE2426 rail voltage is not exactly as ideal as I thought. Can deviate up to 0.01V at any time. But well, comparing to resistor divider, it's heavenly

does it drift? If it does something's wrong.
0.01V static imbalance is okay, you're not suppose to run the output close to the rails anyway. |

If it drifts in 0.01V- 0.02V region? Sometimes it is perfect balance, sometimes it drifts a bit.

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Dec 23 2010, 12:45 AM) then it must be your main DC input. Are you using regulated PSU or simply adjustable unregulated? Because 0.01-0.02V means that your rails are generating distortion in 0.01 V step. |

I testing using battery. I predict to be using unregulated power supply in final product.

maybe cheap DMM, drifts sikit. I don't think I've ever seen a TLE2426 that drifts. Are you using rail to ground caps after TLE2426?
Don't use unregulated PSU. CMOY chips usually have near Class B output stage and they have shitty PSRR. And plus you're not using three channel, the effect is more apparent. |

Could be the DMM being inaccurate. It's running in low power warning after all.
No rail to ground caps after TLE2426. Tangentsoft tells not to do so. I'm sorry but what 3 channel are you referring to? |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Dec 23 2010, 09:22 PM) Could be the DMM being inaccurate. It's running in low power warning after all. Not really. If you see his earlier designs, especially the MINT, they all have caps AFTER the TLE2426. It really depends on how you do it.No rail to ground caps after TLE2426. Tangentsoft tells not to do so. I'm sorry but what 3 channel are you referring to? Personally, I dislike using the TLE2426 to sink current directly. Why not?: -Very little output current to begin with. -High-ish output impedance due to open loop. -Something with little output current means it won't be nice if you're driving low impedance cans. There's no reason not to use rail to ground caps after the TLE2426. The problem with using caps after TLE2426 is that if the caps are too small, and that the impedance is not low enough, due high pass filter effect (interaction between those caps and your load), you lose some bass frequencies for small impedance loads. This can be easily solved by using at least 1000uF on the rails and bypass them with good metal caps. All this however, is still beaten by a simple unity gain opamp with high output current, with its ground output forming a star ground for all star ground nodes. Or heck, use three channel. |
