below 300 can consider.

if using computer then might connect with speaker also.
if mp3 then can try it with headphone. Superlux headphone.

there is below RM300...try look around at garage sales there...
is straight to headphone is okay but dont use the amp with computer speaker...double amping is not a good idea...

computer as source ia very bad idea, decent smartphone is much better than computer. yes, computer do have a cheap amplifier cheap inside the realtek IC(exclude those mobo with hifi audio)
rm300ish for a amplifier pair with computer to push your headphone isnt good idea, its acceptable to pair decent smartphone with 300ish amplifier but definately not computer

Desktop is kinda bad because of the switching power supply, but laptop is actually quite good cause it's running on battery. Get a USB DAC, someone in the forum selling UD110 for about RM 100, it does perform slightly above average

Hi guys, I've got a madcap amp with a 2 stage opdamp design, with muses02 and opa2107 on it.

Feel like changing opamps, got any recommendation for good transparency and soundstage? thanks.

few years back i DIY a tripath ta2022 from the ref board, it pushes out about 90w. Good enough for my bookshelf in a room 10x12. I changed to a floorstander for my living. 90w seems not enough omph. was thinking of the bigger brother TA3020 http://www.ebay.com/itm/TA3020-Audio-Ampli...=item1e89271ebd

anyone has any experience? I'm looking at at least 200w per channel.

My speakers are ProAc Studio 140 (ver I)

The TA3020 is 2x300W at 4Ω, or 160W at 8Ω...might be not enough for you for loud...
maybe u need something like IRS2092 but no idea it is good or not...

Just wanna share my upgrade experience here. I know it's not exactly diy stuff. But it's all about chip amp (D class) which is very popular for diy.
I had used the following amp from Indeed Hifi (Only available in ebay)

1. TA2020 - 4700uf x 1 capacitor
2. TA2021B - 10000uf x2 capacitor (BC)
3. TDA7498E - 8200uf x 2 capacitor (Nichicon)

This should have covered all his product range on the amplifier.

I do not have other product such as smsl or muse for comparison, I would just compare the differences
between this few chips from the same seller.

First of all, Indeed hifi did a great job in the implementation and use quality capacitors as well as provide good ac adapter. With plenty of current supply all these amplifiers shine.

I will rank the following properties which each model has their own strength.

Image depth and soundstage:
TA2020>TA2021B>TDA7498E
You will enjoy the music most with the smallest amp here. Even though it really lack of power for most speaker in the market.

Clarity:
They are all equally good and transparent.

On the frequency aspect, I would think that TA2021B has the most flat frequency response without much coloring effect.

But on the practicality aspect, only the TDA7498E has enough wattage to bring out all the dynamic in the music. Unfortunately, the soundstage and imaging is not as natural as the TA2020 which will cause a slight listening fatigue after 2 hours of listening. I really do hope that after few more days of burn in this will improve a bit.

Nevertheless all these chips amp easily blow away my first budget NAD amplifier C315, which the sound is a bit harsh and veiled compare to the smooth and clear sound from the tripath or tda7498e.

And i don associate with this seller other than buying the amp from him smile.gif

I don't need loud, but i don't expect 60watt would be able to drive the studio 140 well.

I did more research there is also UcD400, but the price is abit on the high end for DIY. Would cost around RM2k for DIY, but review said it's gonna beat the crap out of those high end amp

For those "T-Amps", you could try searching around the Trade Zone -> Garage Sales -> Entertainment Garage Sales -> Music Players and Audio Accessories section in this forum (an example here). Other than that, try eBay (plenty of them there)... hmm.gif

I doubt you can find any amplifier that powerful with Bluetooth functionality all-in-one package. Perhaps you can find some (made in China) unknown brand high powered 2.1 speaker system that has integrated Bluetooth at Pasar Road (which you can modify). Some car CD players with built-in Bluetooth receiver do have at least 50WRMS to 80WRMS per channel speaker outputs... icon_rolleyes.gif

hi folks..

my first post here, i know nothing about amp DIY

but i have some questions, i hope someone can help me with this

i recently bought a used O2 amp (rather cheap) so i think i want to use it to know more about amp. laugh.gif

i've opened up the casing, and looked at the circuitry.. seems neat and simple, but i have 0 electrical background. doh.gif

i'm just wondering, can i further improve the performance by simply replace the op amps with a better ones? if yes, is there any recommended op amp for selection? and what are the "electrical value" that i must take into account while selection? (well, maybe to ensure clean ground noise a.k.a no hiss, to avoid distortion etc. )
