rafa's formations has always defied logic when even normal fans like us can see that the 4-5-1 does not always work.. take out torres and put in reira.. i have seen the team play without strikers before and true enough, gerrard is NOT a striker.. once my bro in law was watching a match with me and he asked if liverpool played a new formation which is 4-6-0!! no strikers but SIX midfielders!!!

at this rate, we will be lucky to finish 5th..

any award for most number of draw?

lol at those bolded parts. tongue.gif ..(no offense guys...i understand ur feelings.. notworthy.gif .)
i just read the report...
from the substitutions made, it seems benitez clearly had chelsea's game in mind... sweat.gif
i remembered earlier in the season, he said they'll take one game at one time, and somehow liver managed to lead the standing...
but how about now? its only 1-nil atm and sub off torres. doh.gif ..hmm...
and also taking off gerrard(???)its because of upcoming 6-pointer game eh.. whistling.gif
i think its started when benitez comment about SAF, before manu-chelsea match...
that time, its said that whatever the outcomes, liverpool are the winner.
now the situation is being reversed.whoever win ( upcoming liverpool-chelsea match), manu win..

Can a team win titles with likes of Lucas, Yossi, Babel? Are we really short of 2-3 more world class players to actually win titles?

Or perhaps, we already have enough? But Rafa is not doing it rightly? IF yes, then, how much more time can we give him?

I dont think players like Lucas or Babel are that bad..but under a different gaffer perhaps?

anyway, i didnt watch the match so cant really say much but here's something i picked from the RAWK forum. no sure if its true...

``So here's what really happened. It's understandable that noone wants to look at this now, but I took one for all you bitter bastards and watched it about 10 times over.

It's a throw-in to us with 10 minutes to go and we pushed up too far. That was it. For everyone crying about pushing for the second, it's what did us. Rafa had Keane up, and was giving him instructions. He was going for it. We had the ball, throwin near side.

Aurelio took the throwin left side to Mascherano, who gave him a very tough ball back, and he miscontrolled it. One Wigan hoof got the ball to the halfway line, where Skittles got beaten in the air in the Wigan half by Mido, it looks like, and the ball broke to Brown, who brought the ball up to our box. There was noone around. Everyone was too far up.

At this point, both Skittles and Carra are badly beaten and turned around. Arbeloa is jogging towards the f***ing penalty spot from what appears to be the left side of the pitch, the right side is completely abandoned, save for two furious players running back at breakneck speed to cover for the three defenders that should not have been beaten so badly.

Yes, for all the moaners, those two were Kuyt and Lucas, tearing back like rats up a f***ing drainpipe. It wasn't their job, but they did it anyway, and Lucas busted his arse to beat everyone to a bad f***ing situation.

Lucas f***ed up, but it wasn't that bad - Koumas was always playing for it. Here's the real kicker - Wigan had two players clearly offside at the time Koumas tried to take the ball past Lucas. If Lucas had just let him go, he was gonna either run out of pitch, or have 2 teammates offside in front of Pepe.

If you watch it a couple times, you might end up walking off the muppet stage for giving Lucas grief. Arbeloa, Skittles and Carra blew it. 7 minutes to go, and everyone went marauding for an unnecessary second goal.''

Question to all who watched the match: so is it true that we conceded because we went to seek for another goal?

Babel and Lucas are good players. The good I mean here is generally good, not exceptionally good. It just their recent form are like hell. And the worst part of all, Rafa didn't see it. He just continue to play them both when we're in such a tight situation. I don't care if they play if we're leading like 3 or above. Can't Rafa hear what we want? He's being disillusioned by his own alter ego. I think I can't watch Lucas anymore. Better some young academy lads than him. Babel, let him play in reserve as much as possible to rediscover his touch. Just get Lucas out of my face. Hate to see his 'innocent' look when he's the one who made the most mistakes.

QUOTE(bomberkenny @ Jan 29 2009, 02:44 PM)
about lucas, I didn't watch him play this morning. But I think he has a future, given that he is given good mentoring. The thing is I believe in Class more than form. As you guys always say

"Form is temporary, class is permanent"

So I do believe players with class should be fully utilize their talents and fixing their shortfalls. You guys might not agree with me, but I see class in Lucas, Benayoun, Pennant, Crouch, Kewell, and even Babel.
Why I have faith in Lucas so much is because I see Gerrard's image in him, though doesn't have skills to turn a game like gerrard, but his passes and vision.
To me also Pennant and Crouch are great players, just watch them play and you'll see class in their play. Pennant wasn't given Liv MOTM in CL finals game with AC for nothing, he almost changed the outcome of the game. Crouch has first touch that I have never seen in Keane or Kuyt, the way he crushed Arsenal 3-0 remember? (not header, but his left and right leg shot)
And Kewell has got class, and you guys keep saying that he's only in the team to waste resources. I bet if he's fully fit and still in the game, he would be another supplier to Torres if Gerrard couldn't do magic.
Babel has good shots on target, and power. Put him up to striker and I bet it's gonna cover  his shortfalls and will start scoring. I bet if now Arsenal buys him, he would live up his reputation as the next Henry.

But too bad in Rafa's game, 2 Englishmen benched and sold, 1 winger benched because he believed in Kuyt so fukin much, and another struggling in a position that his shortfalls are so widely exposed.
Honestly, I already said this and I don't mind saying it again, Rafa isn't the person to bring us titles and trophy. Even the FA and 2005 CL, he won it with Gerard Houllier's signings while with 100% of his own, he couldn't achieve anything
*
i myself can see class in Benayoun, Pennant, Crouch, Kewell and of course Babel.
but there's one name that shouldn't be there, yes thats Lucas..

he falls under another category along with Djimi Traore and El Hadji Diouf if u can see what i mean..the type of players that can cost us few precious points..further on cost us the title..

and since when do we grow the feeling of becoming a champion..now tell me?
we getting lucky wins in the early stage of the season (we call it champion's luck)
we getting good results versus manure and chelski
and now..we're getting where we are supposed to be..drawing games and will at some point end up fighting for the 4th position..aint that what supposed to happen since months ago?

i woke up..after a series of events, it wakes me up...we are Liverpool...since when do we get so pissed off by not winning EPL? biggrin.gif

...or should i say.. keep the faith? wink.gif

Saw Pennant play for his new club, better then Lucas.... time to give up hope for the Premier League title. Waste all the point with draw, Rafa talk only but do nothing to improve the team. Is time for him to move on to other club since he can't perform.

Ex liverpool all get better? Baros is still baros.Morientes is still morientes. Josemi did an ok job.Zenden warm the bench?

Heskey has some magics since the last 2 years. Before that, not so impressive.

As for keane, I m still hoping that he can gain his form and changed rafa's mind.

But it's kinda hard for him to, since rafa started him on bench. doh.gif
