Sipadan island has a stretch of 100m+ white sandy beach (open for public) only, and the beautiful underwater world mainly starts at 5m and deeper.

nice and romantic time, personally i will opt for Kapalai(given the 2 choices) but pls be reminded that Kapalai s built tilted on the sand bank, no beach..

Anyhow, if relax and romantic moment s the main theme and maybe leave out sipadan, i would choose Mataking in this semporna area of Celebes Sea!

Furthermore, my best overall experience on land with the sweet sweet romantic moment would be Lankayan island off Sandakan. 12-15 units of lovely chalets in a peaceful island, same mother company as kapalai. Another major difference as compare to the 3 resorts mentioned above, very few china tourists visit this island whistling.gif

A fren of mine commented, Lankayan is on par if not better than the few islands in maldives that he n his wife visited!

i did not stay at those 2 but on sipadan water village. while service is ok and it looks nice outside, the room itself is quite dated riao

IMO sipadan, even for just snorkeling, the underwater life, fish and turtles...is just pure superb! Can even see shark (if lucky la) . redang and pulau payar is just like baby climbing, while sipadan is like F1 cars lol

Hi, would like to ask, I will be going to Tawau this sat, planning to go islands in Tun Sakaran Marine Park on Sunday. I was quoted RM 500 per boat per day to go islands hopping. Is this the rate now, or should I ask around the boatmen in jetty after arriving on this Sat?

hi, planning to go tawau-mabul this coming June. How is the situation there now? Still active with terrorism?

Kidnapping can happen anytime. If you are really afraid then don't go.

I know people who have been there in May, June, August, November last year and some recently came back from Mabul over the past 2-3 months. I also know people who have been working there all these while. Everything is fine. I'll also be going to Pom Pom in August this year.

Just be aware of your surroundings and don't splurge or show off you have lots of money.

Most of activity you can do ,its snorkeling ,diving ,hiking and island hopping.

Normally,if you stay at Semporna City, you can also can do Day Trips to all islands. Normally the snorkeling and island hopping will start at 8.00am and will finish around 5pm.

Snorkeling Trip to Sibuan Island + Matabuan Island and Bohedulang island ( Hiking 600 meter ).

Highly recommended for snorkeling at Mataking Island...superb crystal clear water..

http://www.pulausipadan.com.my/PulauMataking.php

To stay at Mataking Island are bit expensive compare stay at Semporna. If you looking for budget and cheaper,i would recommend you to stay Mabul Island. But if you are diver and want to dive at Sipadan Island, you need to apply sipadan diving permit minimum 3 month before.

Hope fully this information will help you to get clear picture. smile.gif

Anybody been to Semporna lately?

Wanted to check on the latest situation:
Chinese restaurants open/close?
Travel agents open/close?
Watsons open/close?
Scuba agencies open/close?

You will get better response from "LYN Scuba Divers Club v8.0", a lot of them went during November and December
