When u in semporna.

Any places of interest (to take photos), place to makan (eat) ? Do recommend some pls!

Langkayan Island at Sandakan ain't bad~~~ good for Non-divers. if going for Semporna (Mabul, Mataking, Sipadan Water Village etc) should go diving. if don't have diving license, can get there or try out the Discover scuba diving.

Planning to go to Semporna island with friends, do anyone know how much is the total money will you spend? will go a group 5 and all bujang, just looking for a cheap inn and snorkeling. Thank you in advance.

what do u mean by semporna island?? u mean the island around semporna??

Semporna is not an island. It's a small town about 80km away from Tawau. You probably mean those island surrounding the town i.e the North western side - Tun Sangkaran Dandai Marine park and also the South Eastern islands of Mabul-Kapalai & Sipadan ?

Anyway, good idea of going in a group of 5.. Infact if can get 8 much better bcos going to those islands you need to hire a boat (either illegally or via proper licensed agents) Each boat can accomiodate max of ~ 8 so just nice to share the cost.

If illegal boat operators, you can get it for ~ RM350 to RM500/boat per day (RM350 to Sangkaran Dandai side & RM500 to Mabul/Sipadan side. If oing via licensed agents, you need to X 1.5 to X2. On budget hotels, there are few in Semporna ~ RM40/pax by sharing in the hostel room

Go and talk to the receptionist inside dragon Inn.. They got kantow to look for those illegal operators..cheap but be warned.. anything happen...dunno what to do..touch wood

Not visiting Tawau? Should book atleast 1 nite there so that you cover 2 towns in Sabah at one go .. I covered 3 towns - Semporna, Lahad Datu & Tawau ..ehh also passing by water stilt towns in the middle of the sea..

hehe, yea. i will confirm stay at tawau 1 nite, becoz my flight from tawau to KL is early in the morning, so instead of rushing all the way from semporna to airport on that day, i might as well go tawau stay 1 nite before balik

Hehe.. Yeah.. Lotsa these houses surrounding Semporna water. Mostly illegal and most already got IC via "Project IC .. mostly Pinoys.

no.. i duno whether they hav website or not.. and i don hav the boss phone no as well.. its close to sipadan inn..
but there are quite a few budget hotel and backpackers inn at semporna town area.. you can just walk around and ask.. i been there 2 times recently for business trip without booking any hotel before..

if near pulau bum bum.. many of those occupied by those without IC (i think is bajau iinm, not sure thou).. if it is at middle of the sea.. on shallow water.. it was left by those seaweed planters.. they gave up and just leave their platform there..

finally i book and pay for all my hotels for my coming trip to semporna

In 5 days time, I stayed at 3 hotels, and all of them, the price range differs so big wahha

2 night at Sipadan Inn 2 - RM210 per night

2 night at Sipadan Water village - RM1200++ per night

1 night at VS hotel at Tawau - RM75 per night

btw, anyone stayed at sipadan Inn 2 before? the hotel looks very nice from agoda, too bad not much other picture at tripadvisor @@

Have your heard of mataking? the rate much cheaper- the island surrounded coral still intact

much cheaper? by how much?

i think i asked before, and i doubt it's much cheaper.
