Tern Verge P18 RM3820
Dahon Dash P18 RM2560 (after 5% discount)
Looking at their difference in Japan (Y126K vs Y100K), the Dahon seems to be a better buy here, right ?
Putting aside Japan, also assuming that Verge would not have a RM1.3K premium over Dash ?

i bought  dash p18 frm rodalink, remember a few things when u bought, i'm gona list it out. now

when hv decided to get the bike, at the bike shop, ask them to remove the inner tubes,
and u inspect both the tubes with ur hand, feel it, make sure there is no patch, no
metal shavings stuck on the tube.

during manufacturing, they drill the double wall rim for the spoke holes,
and they din clean/clear the metal shavings trapped inside the double wall,
they just stick the rim tape and assemble, so one of my rim have a lot of metal shavings inside
and u can only shake it out, vacuum it out tru the inner tube valve hole.
the metal shaving punctured my tyre during a ride.
and one of my inner tube was patched by duno who, when i discovered it, it was already 2 weeks,
and they won't replace for me.

and make sure the inner tube is schwalbe - made in indonesia.
QUOTE(H2D @ Oct 4 2011, 11:15 PM)
also make sure they adjust n tune both the RD n FD properly,
the tiagra RD the max size is exceeded in this bike, ....

max sprocket size for the tiagra is 27T

dash p18 max sprocket is 35T

so exceeded the spec, when the chain is at the max rear sprocket,
the upper pulley of the RD will touch the max sprocket.
there is just a little room left to adjust.

so u put the bike on the stand, shift it to the max sprocket, and turn the pedal
forward and backwards as well. make sure the upper pulley is not
scraping the max sprocket, if it does, u can feel it and can hear grinding noise.

do this in the bike shop before u take it home.
Better to go to Rodalink or Lerun resellers such as KSH SS2 (I stay nearby) for this ?

the schwalbe inner tube that comes with the dahon dash p18 is different than
the schwalbe tube that you purchase from bike stores, in terms of thickness.
at first i thought why is this tube so thin like a balloon??
then when i bought another new tube, the difference it obvious.

the one on the left is the original tube that comes with the dash p18.
it is very thin and easily punctured , there are already signs of crack when i fold it.

the schwalbe tube 20inch with presta valve, is rrp Rm 29 in rodalink.
you can get it for RM 21 in penang.
taiwan 20 inch tube is about Rm 15. but bike stores in klang valley will price it below RM 20.

Should I change this immediately if I buy the Dash ?

well, if u want to inspect the inner tube n clean the rims , u can go to any dealer who is willing to remove the tyres n do it for u.

I'm not sure if the new batch of dash p18 has thinner inner tubes now...
you should always keep spares tubes..

Added on June 12, 2012, 9:32 pmone more thing, if the rider is not very tall, on the verge p18, the seat post can't be raised too high, but the handle post can't be lowered.

Depends... I'll go for the Dash P18... great performance bike, the diamond frame makes the bike stiffer and handles well, can pull on it whilst going up hill, feels like a 'normal' size bike. Drawback is the folded size is bigger and less compact. Not sure if a smaller folded size portability is what you want.

I have not tried the Verge P18, but i have other single bar folding bikes, I ride it tall and high, so the longer seat and handlebar stem introduces more flex to the ride. The feel is slight different. I am not sure if the Verge can be as stiff as the Dash. But folded size is more compact and easier fits in a carry bag.

I will go for the Dash if portability and folded size is not a high priority. Try resellers like FBT or GW, may get better price... but stock of the Dash is limited and you have to 'search' for it esp L frame.

Best if you can 'test' ride before you decide.

yeah thanks for the reply. from the other thread someone replied to me that there's a reason why this is sold at groupon (unlike starbucks or iPhones you won't see there).

Its Dahon China or CDM models, the handle bars are unique. I believe you will need to negotiate heavily with the seller. Unless you don't mind the asking price.
Now that Tern and Dahon split, its all Dahon China.

I'm still looking for a suitable carry on cover for my dash p 18. Did you manage to find one?

Wanna buy folding bike.

Which one is better? Dahon Eco C7 vs Raleigh Ugo vs XDS AFB 958?

Primary use is riding with kids around neighborhood and convenient to put in car to bring to park.

Please help.

sound like cheaper one will do, Raleigh Ugo was told can get Rm699 if you know where to look, XDS maybe rm900. Eco c7 there a promotion this weekend at Midvalley for Maybank Card Treats Fair.

riding with kids around neighborhood and convenient to put in car to bring to park - think all above is more than suitable.

Enjoy the ride smile.gif

Thanks for your reply. Raleigh Ugo is cheaper by around Rm200 while Dahon Eco C7 and XDS is about the same price. Dahon seems to be the best brand when it comes to folding bike, but how is the quality of the Eco C7 as it is the entry level model. What I like about the Dahon Eco C7 is that it fold fast and end up really small. XDS AFB958 on offers rear suspension and Alloy Rear Rack which is pretty attractive.

Anyway, which has the best built quality? Which has the best features?
