another biomedic student here, proceeding to my 4th year(final year) soon. i'm now having my internship at general hospital, moving from lab to lab, observing different work station, how r the staffs there handling specimens, how to do quality control. frankly, i'm enjoying the course, happy to see everything r related to human being, especially 'guessing' the pathology of disease,i nt really fancy animal nor plant.lucky to get the course.haha.

Our clinical microbiology lecturer from India as I recalled it, is the most fierce lecturer in the whole of Health and Science faculty. She kicks people out of her class and make them stand outside for chit-chatting, smiling/grinning unnecessarily, day-dreaming, loosing-focus and even if your HP makes any sound whatsoever during her class. She will humiliate the student if the student failed to answer questions from her previous classes. I was kicked out of her class just because my phone made some sms noise.  shakehead.gif  laugh.gif

Dr pallavi is it? i just love her.
i was kicked out from her class about 4-5 times and she even threated me to fail my microbiology. when the results were out, i got B+ compared to most of my friends who got themselves B and B- (of course u need to go extra mile for A).
she's not fierce, she's just got a lot more sense of discipline during teaching in her class. i've met her few times in Giant Shah Alam and Brunsfield. She's unexpectedly nice and warmer person.
honestly speaking, without her icy looks and 'back stabs' threats during the class, i found new, fundamental subjects like next generation gene-sequencing (i presented this at UITM medical molecular technology institute journal club meetings during my internship) were next to nothing.
so, juniors, heed my advice. try to make a good rapport with her despite having her badmouthing you. she's just testing u.

cheers,

Well pharmacy studies fields and topics related to drugs which include the absorption of drugs, effect of drugs, side effect of drugs and also the production of drugs (to ensure which way it is most suitably consumed)... Biology is also applied in order to know the effects of drugs towards the body...In order to study pharmacy, one must be good in maths, biology and also most importantly, chemistry (advanced chemistry applied in the course).

For biomedical science, basic knowledge of different aspects of sciences related to human body and it's functions are important because the job of biomedical scientists involves diagnostic applications and also investigations. The study of cells, body fluids, bacteria and also the body metabolism is important to ensure full understanding of the diagnostic tests conducted.... Students must have a strong master of biology (very important) and also chemistry and maths (maths and chemistry is not often applied but basic knowledge of the respective subjects must be mastered...

Hope these answer your doubts....

I dunno whether this helps u but this is what i can get for u coincidentally....

my housemate is going to move out of my place and he got a unit at vista B2, opposite IMU only cross the road to reach IMu .

Located on 5th floor the 4th unit, It's a master bedroom and mostly it is air conditioned, rent is rm500 per month (before that he wanna put rm 550 but he got scared after someone turned down his offer...LOL~~~), which is considered as standard price....(some can shoot to rm 600). Can move in on July, beginning of July. Internet connection will be provided , and also washing machine when u decided to move in....Do remind u that the masterbedroom is EMPTY...

If ur interested and for further enquiries, contact this guy at

017-5277021 ( Khor). Bpharm student from BP1/08, can converse in chinese (cantonese and mandarin), Malay and English....LOL~~~

GOod luck for u girl! try find as soon as possible ...

One more thing....keep this in low profile...I am stealing their internet connection as I am typing (I don't want them to know...pls keep this as secret....)

Juz say u got from someone...

Added on May 11, 2009, 12:42 amOh ya! I forgot...do u mind sharing the unit with guys?? because instead of Khor sharing, there will be another MEdicine student (M1/08) student staying with Khor, which is Khor's friend.....

Both of them will take the middle room and small room respectively.

Well....good luck

if u noe the employability of this course, u will noe y i make such a decision ( i mean in malaysian market)
i noe many says that u r very interested in this course n u would like to pursue ur interest, but frankly, i used to think that way.
interest cant b converted into a bowl of rice
oh ya...if u noe wat v did during training, u'll beg to go back to the day u make decision to study this course
anyway, u all like lo....i'm just giving my opinion only

i still studying biomed n acca at the same time.
for training,
just OBSERVE wat the mlt there do lo.....wont hav the chance to do the wateva test.....just OBSERVE
normally nobody will even bother about ur existence, hav to personally go n observe
just chit-chatting with other trainee in the lab whole day...wasting my time
just met a few ukm biomed trainee in the same hospital....ask them how do they enjoy the course........they just quiet n say "just dunno wat to do after graduate"
making such a big decision to change stream is not easy...many factors to consider....but i'm glad i did, otherwise it will b too late alr by now n will regret it forever
for me.....i always love biology....i even tot i love doing lab research work.....but sem by sem.....it seems the job is boring n dissatisfying.....study so hard to earn that much only....not so motivating
inevitably...sum might hav a gud heart saying they wanna become researcher to find a cure for disease or sumting.....but my heart is not so big lo
i'm selfish 1 lo.....i'm someone who can study....y not i study something that could improve my wealthiness in a shorter time n less torturing process
if u r someone who love money n feel that only with money u could be happy, can buy this n that, gucci, LV , iphone, honda civic.......biomed is not a gud choice
unless u really hav strong interest (which i use to hav) n just wanna make this world a better world, perhaps u find biomed a gud course...but only if u further up to phd, then u could buy this n that also, only if further up to phd
but if u just plan to work after grad biomed......the job opportunity is low to be frank
job: product specialist for pharmaceutical company( in other words SALES), underwriter for insurance company, science officer in gov hospital, mlt in private pathology lab, mayb research assistant in bio-research field, n i cant think of more

dont get offended if i say sumting wrong, biomed just not as gud as u think it is....even worst for biochem, microbiology, biotech
