Alan Moore's graphic novel revolves around the murder case of Jack The Ripper.... starring Johhny Depp & Heather Graham. Pretty graphic dis movie... gory murders but stylish thriller dat is... ohmy.gif

Blu-Ray Pricing
*
"To me, it's all about value. Am I getting more value out of a respective Blu-ray film that I'm paying more for than its DVD alternative? At a $10 difference, the film better be a blockbuster hit with outstanding visuals. If it doesn't have both, I'll choose the DVD. But if the price difference is nominal and rentals are priced just $1 apart, I'll pick Blu-ray every time."

Being 'blockbuster' or not is rather subjective to me but 'outstanding visuals' is definitely the one to look for especially in HD! (& audio too...) I've so far have no problem with new/recent movies but older/catalog titles can be tricky... some are good & some really crappy, not worth its bd label.. tongue.gif

If: Optimum Price = Outstanding Quality, then its worth it nod.gif

generic breakdown.

USD 25 x 3.75 = 91.25MYR + tax 30% (+/-27.37MYR) + shipping + Profit = RM149

so 149 - (91.25 + 27.37) = 30.38MYR (for retailer shipping cost and profit)

reason is that local retailer's order isnt big enuff like amazon, hence their cost price for each BD might be higher. Only amazon is known for the lowest retail price for BD (overall). Even normal retailer in US cant compete with amazon.

I recommend the 'Taukeh-s' in here should start retail blu-rays locally & rival to Speedy's ridiculous pricing... sure more people will embrace bd... biggrin.gif tongue.gif

If you all still remember last time when dvd come out also rm100 over per disc. It took a few years for the price to go down. I got a few dvd last time i bought for rm100 over but now selling for rm50 and below... cry.gif

Now alot of ppl still see there's no reason to change to dvd yet just like last time when alot of ppl still buy vcd... unless the blu-ray player fall lower then rm1000 and of course with blu-ray also u need a good tv to enjoy it...

With the economy situation like this many will see that its not necessary to change to blu-ray yet.... So for the blu-ray movies price to drop further we need to wait for the consumer base to increase or wait until the movie studio don't come out dvd anymore but just blu-ray or for pirated blu-ray movies and ps3 games to comeout(but i dun support tis lah.. buy ori)... hmm.gif

I don't see dvd becoming obsolete or extinguish totally at least for the next 5 years or so.. because dvd is quite superior in quality unlike vhs or vcd. And... I'd put bluray as a niche product, a class above others.. so price can still be slightly higher than dvd generally because of its superiority in quality. But during these bad times, that has to change especially when my bd collection is mounting and the resistance to the bd poison is becoming thinner... if the price going down faster, the better... whistling.gif biggrin.gif

You'd be surprised, still many blur people still paying rm10 to rm15 for p-dvd .... cinema copy summore.

Mostly non-internet and old gen people.

VCD gen still around also.
