Think of it every day and you end up torturing yourselves.
Relax and stay calm. Just embrace yourselves when you have your results back. |

form 4 chemistry is harder than form 5
but rates of reaction is the easiest of f5 chapters, take note of the four factors affecting the speed of reaction as well as explanation for the increase/decrease of rate of reaction omigosh, i still got it!! |

T.T Im goin to miss all those days in high school. lol. Are you guys studyin in college now or waiting for the results? Some of my frens were already in college and some were still working. Are you guys working? Added on January 8, 2009, 10:01 amahkaey, now. i would like to share the idea how i remember the different between base quantity and derived quantity. u may find this in form4 chapter1 physic. base quantity- quantities that cannot be defined in terms of other quantities. * for instance: length, mass, time, temperature, electric current. derived quantity- physics quantities derived from the base quantities through multiplication, division or both. * for instance: area, volume, force, velocity etc. note, there is only 5 type of base quantity. length, mass, time, temperature, electric current. memorise this 5 where as the other are ALL derived quantity. so now, how to memorise? Lenght = Lazy Mass = Man Time = Take Temperature = Things Electric current = Easy. thus, based quatity = Lazy man take things easy! hope this will help. My ex-sivik teacher said there might be SPM Civics for this year. So far, I got a reply from the LPM and they said there is no such thing till further notice. While my current sivik teacher (ex-sivik teacher's wife) said, no Civics for SPM. Still unsure. >.>

the answer is D because copper(II) sulphate is a catalyst that will increase the rate of reaction therefore the reaction between copper(II) sulphate and zinc which is curve 2 will complete faster than curve 1 . Did you realise that volume of gas released in curve 2 is half of the curve 1 because the number of moles in curve 2 is half 30X0.5=15

To calculate mol from solution; formula is:
(MV) / 1000 Curve I (30 x 1) / 1000 = 0.03 mol Curve II A. (60 x 1) / 1000 = 0.06 mol It has more mol. Technically, the graph of this solution should be higher than Curve I because it'll produce higher volume of gas B. (30 x 1) / 1000 = 0.03 mol Same amount mol. Curve II should intersect Curve I if this is the answer. But that's not the case. So this is not the answer. C. (30 x 2) / 1000 = 0.06 mol Same explanation as A. D. (30 x 0.5) / 1000 = 0.015 mol Amount of mol is decreased by half compared to Curve I, therefore volume of gas produced will also decrease by half. Copper (II) sulphate is a catalyst for reaction between zinc and hydrochloric acid, that is why it is faster for the reaction to be completed compared to curve I. The answer is D. |

Ok, more hydrogen. More acidic. Ionises more completely to form hydrogen ions. I hope I got it correct. It's been months since I finished my SPM!

In this case, NaCl solution has excess substances of Na+ and Cl-. After the reaction, NaNO3 solution is produced. The remaining solution contains Na+, Cl- and NO3-. 15. Zn + 2HCl --> ZnCl2 + H2 According to reaction, a mole of Zn produces a mole of H2. number of moles of Zn = number of moles of H2 1.3/65 = x/24 x = 0.48dm3 This post has been edited by IamjustME: Jan 10 2009, 09:14 PM |

Hence, In the solution, there are excess of silver ion in the solution Ag: 0.02mol Cl: 0.01mol amount of Ag used to form precipitation: 0.01mol, so 0.02mol(initial) - 0.01mol(used to form precipitation) = 0.01mol(left) so, there are still 0.01 mol of silver ions in the solution. |

it differs for each schools here, my friend and as for me, i totally disagree with you. my school is one of the best here in sarawak and the preparations the teachers gave us are actually above the par. that is why most of the students of our school find it quite easy. besides, it depends on the students themselves to do the preparations. you should have needed to expect for the worse and did more preparations.

sorry im late. what's endothermic reaction and exothermic reaction? ok just picture it.
endothermic reaction = inhaling. the graph go upwards because you are inhaling. and the temperature decreases because you're inhaling air into your body. exothermic reaction = exhaling. the graph goes downwards because you're exhaling air. the temperature increasing because warm air is exhaled out from your body that is how i remember them. hope you understand. haha. |

Spermatogenesis and oogenesis start from primodial germ cell.
Spermatogenesis occurs in the walls of seminiferous tubules. The production of eggs is called oogenesis. It takes place in the ovaries and begins before birth. The outer layer of the ovary (the germinal epithelium) produces primary oocytes. It also produces follicle cells that congregate around the oocytes, forming a structure called the primary follicle. By the time a baby girl is born, the primary oocytes in the primary follicles have started the first meiotic division but the process halts at the first stage (prophase I). After puberty one of these develops each month. It completes meiosis I to form a secondary oocyte and first polar body (the latter of which will eventually disintegrate). The follicle cells around it proliferate to form a wall many cells thick called the theca. Fluid collects inside the structure to form a fluid-filled cavity. The whole structure is called a Graafian follicle. At a time controlled by hormones the secondary oocyte is released from the Graafian follicle and it leaves the ovary - a process called ovulation. The secondary oocyte with some surrounding follicle cells leaves the ovary and enters one of the oviducts. What is left behind on the surface of the ovary turns into a structure called the corpus luteum. |

negative feedback is like when our body get too hot, our body system naturally will get it back to our optimum temperature...any changes in our body system like glucose concentrationg, body temperature, carbon dioxide concentration will cause our body to react n bring it back to optimum level..this is negative feedback..u no need to noe about positive feedback but it is the opposite of negative feedback....

for that (-2)^(n-1) = 2^12 question, it is obvious that n-1 must b equal to 12 or else it wont b equal....it does not matter whether it got a negative side or not cos if the power is an even number, it will b positive...u can try out using calculator..the answer for n is 13

These subjects are quite bored and love to ask some stupid questions. I had lost my hope in these subjects I don't think the problem is from the subjects, it's you having some problems in learning. When I was taking SPM, I also hate add maths as I fail to understand most of the formula. It was too hard for me! Then, I get poor result in add maths. Now, when I think again about it. I realized that I had something troubled me at that time. I couldn't concentrate into study and that was why I get the poor result. Sort out your problems and solve it first before change your interest into study. This post has been edited by work_tgr: Jan 19 2009, 07:20 PM |

If in the second minutes mean the volume of gas produced is between first min and 2nd min.if in the 120 th second, I think the book question has wrong.suppose to be in the first 120 s or at the 120th second.
Am I correct?? |

so, no such question like asking about average rate of reaction in the 120th second? normally is average rate of reaction in the second MINUTE? which mean the total volume collected in the first 2 second minus the totalo volume of gas collected in the first minutes over 1 min?

I'm form 4 this year. I can't understand the chapter Absolute Value Function in add math where we need to sketch a graph according to equation given? mind to elighten me? can show me on how to answer this question?
3. Sketch the graph of absolute value function f(x)=|x-3| in the domain -2(<=)x(<=)4. Hence, determine the corresponding range of the function. 1.Am I doing this question right? Q : Given that f(x)=|3x-1|, find the possible value of a if f(a)= 5 f(a)=|3(2)-1| =|6-1| =|5| Hence, a = 2. |

QUOTE(Shah_15 @ Jan 21 2009, 12:19 PM) so in exams, need to give both answers? because absolute value function if negative value need to change to positive right? give both answers.tips: if the question say "possible values", then it must be more then 1 answer. Markers will not deduct marks if you gives 2 answers from one equation, either both are correct or one is rejected or both are wrong lol.

QUOTE(Shah_15 @ Jan 21 2009, 03:06 PM) as what milleu said, since the question is asking you to sketch.f(x)=|x-3| in the domain -2(<=)x(<=)4. f(-2)=? f(-1)=? f(0)=? f(1)=? f(2)=? f(3)=? f(4)=? then sketch. Another method is sketch first f(x)=x-3 Then "mirror" all of the negative value for f(x) to the positive side (upper side of cartersian graph) This post has been edited by work_tgr: Jan 21 2009, 04:55 PM |

Qualitative Analysis of ions
To identify the cation and anion present in a given substance. You'll be given a substance and also colour of it [sometimes] in a common question. I've no idea whether this kind of question would frequently pop up in SPM paper. This post has been edited by Riggo: Jan 21 2009, 07:24 PM |

I've also been revising salts for few days , its quite tough tho. Have to memorise all the insoluble and soluble salts ><. Besides, questions for the analysis of ions are truely long, you may try to find it in any reference book , but i'll try to quote it from google ;D.
EDIT: What is up with your MSN? you're not signed in. EDIT2: Analysis of ions is included in salt chapter. This post has been edited by Riggo: Jan 21 2009, 07:27 PM |

oh yeah trust me,recognizing the ion is important.
I remember my teacher gave me this chart. Really simple to understand. But then yes takes a lot of memorization. But it's nothing really when you starting to learn organic chemistry. |

Added on January 23, 2009, 5:03 pm QUOTE(vick5821 @ Jan 23 2009, 04:33 PM) Add math ques r = 0.25 @ 1/4The sum of the first 2 terms of a GP is 3 and the sum of the next two terms is 3/16. Find the positive value of the first term and the common ratio a = 2.4? Sorry, I do not have a calculator with me right now. GP = a, ar , ar^2 , ar^3 Sum of 1st 2 terms, a+ar = 3 @ a(1+r) = 3 Sum of next 2 terms, ar^2 + ar^3 =3/16 @ ar^2(1+r) = 3/16 then...solve it. 1/r^2 = 16 r^2 = 1/16 r = 0.25 then just calculate your a. B.
Aluminium nitrate is a soluble salt Soluble salt can be prepared by four method First method - acid + alkali ( soluble salt of SAP) second method - acid + metal third method - acid + metal oxide foruth method - acid + metal carbonate The second to fourth method can be used to prepare soluble salt that is not salt of SAP For the second method, If the metal is lower than H in the Electrochemical series such as copper, there is no any displacement reaction occurs. So, salt like copper (ii) nitrate cant be prepared by mixing Nitric acid with copper metal |

I am not so sure with the answer. You may calculate it again, as I do not have a calculator along, just do it roughly. For your problem, Hm, I think you may buy a Modern Maths reference book and look for the solution through the book. Personally I would suggest Sasbadi. There are many clear examples for you to learn factorization. Else, I think Pelangi Add Maths reference book would be a good choice too. |

For the chemistry subject, why don't you go try do the pas year questions(with answers and explanation provided)? Last time i write the answers and explanations on each questions so is easier to refer back when revision. Write on your own, what you have wrote may help you memorize it. |

Equation: 2H + 1/2 O2 --> H2O 1.8 x 10^22 / 6.02 x 10 ^23 = 0.03 mol 0.03 mol / 2 = 0.015mol Ans: 0.015 mol Q2: The four OA's I know is bromine water, chlorine water, acidified potassium manganate (VII) & potassium dichromate (VI)... There are more, but I'm not sure because these are the 4 OA's which my teacher told me to remember. see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxidizing_age...xidizing_agents for more details. then again, don't really know the question. Q3: III & IV --- Question in previous page: The answer A. No other possible answers because zinc, magnesium and aluminium are much higher than H in the Reactivity series. Although Lead is higher than H in the reactivity series, because the distance between the two is not big that's why it's possible for H to react with the oxide of lead. |

Periodic table is used to determine the electron arrangement and which group that certain chemical belongs in. In 2008 SPM periodic table is not supplied for paper 1 but paper 2.

Notice the series, got Hydrogen. Is H not H2. To test the reactivity of metals, i.e MgO + 2H -> MgO + H2 [ correct me if im wrong ]
If PbO reduced by H [ PbO + H -> H2O + Pb ] means its oxidation. Reduced = Oxidation Emm, right ar ? Positive terminal must be Oxidation in Electrical cell. |

g(x) = 1/x + 3, When x = 0,1,2,3 g(0) = 1/0 + 3 = 3 g(1) = 1/1 + 3 g(2) = 1/2 + 3 |

And for prinsip akaun, you may get exercise books which are yellow in colour, seperate into Form 4 and Form 5, by Pelangi. The series contain a variety of exercises for each chapter. And there is a CD for all the answer. It's good for understanding. Actually all the reference books have almost the same content, but it really depends on yourself to read and understand it thoroughly. |

Ask yourself, are you good in elaborationg craps? If you are, then you are FIT for EST. Why hassle when you still have some time to think about EST. To me, it's a free A. best is to take more sujects to secure a scholarship..for my school, EST is compulsory for the science stream so although most of my friends do not want to take it, we r forced to take it...u should take up general science n also account(not that easy to get an A anymore for account since there is a change in the format)

mean 0.16 forward? when we apply the formula m1v1=m2v2, we know the two velocity sure opposite one? just for the formula? other formula we follow the sign?

ya..if explosion it will b negative...
actually for explosion, it still apply the law of m1v1 + m2v2 = m1v3 + m2v4 but since the initial velocity of explosion is 0 so left side is 0...hence m2v4 is brought to the left side and hence got a negative side |

the bee is an object... the bee flies towards its image in 5s.. imagine that you standing in front a mirror... then u run towards ur image in the mirror.... its given that...every second the bee flies took 0.8m... so how about 5s.. by using a calculator...always counting on this useful machine..cant live without it.. 5 * 0.8 = ? still wrong answer... huh... i never open my physics book since i graduated from school... In physics, every detail must be taken in account. No one saw that. And the 2nd bold is just too general, it could be his NEW IMAGE or OLD IMAGE. Both different distances. If it was the old image, then yes 4Meter is the answer , without a doubt. Anyhow! If it was the new image, the bee actually travelled 4m of the bee, and 4m of the bee image. This goes by the saying, distance of object from mirror is equivalent to distance of object in mirror , or something like that. So is the answer 8meters? Or 4meters? |

As one of the forumer explains:- basic: *******4m**********4m******** image----------mirror----------object "bee">>>>>> <<<<<<<"bee" If you still do not understand the concept , get a measuring tape (construction type) and start pulling it from the starting point which is your mirror (preferable a mirror that shows from head to toe) to a spot where you stand. Next, look at the measuring tape from the spot you stand till the "image" of your spot in the mirror. Isn't it 2 times longer than the length of your measuring tape to the mirror(object)? Why many people take car license after spm. For me if you don't own a car what for having car license. Besides living in kl you can go pretty much anywhere without car.

That I am not sure. But one thing for sure, results day sure get spam online asking for our results. One part I don't mind telling, but it is the part where they compare your results with others that hurts.

Don't worry about your result. Soon you will realise SPM is not that important like it used to be long ago. Today got so many choices, private colleges you just need money. Or go to Form 6.

Usually won't clash, as a lot of people are taking Accounts as an extra subject, so no worries.
As for you saying you not fit, I doubt they will believe you. If they believe, a lot of people escape already. |

Added on February 7, 2009, 8:47 pm QUOTE(ilovecookies92 @ Feb 4 2009, 07:33 PM) ok let me explain although i sux in physics, therefore this question is pretty general. you mean that the distance travelled by the bee(4) and the image of the bee(4)? is it?As one of the forumer explains:- basic: *******4m**********4m******** image----------mirror----------object "bee">>>>>> <<<<<<<"bee" If you still do not understand the concept , get a measuring tape (construction type) and start pulling it from the starting point which is your mirror (preferable a mirror that shows from head to toe) to a spot where you stand. Next, look at the measuring tape from the spot you stand till the "image" of your spot in the mirror. Isn't it 2 times longer than the length of your measuring tape to the mirror(object)? QUOTE(QianYu @ Feb 7 2009, 09:34 PM) i've no ambition and thats why im stuck now. Just read your case. No worries girl, everyone does encounter such problem as you after PMR unless that person has done his/her revision before school reopens. When I first joined in the upper form in science stream, it's a total shock as it was my first time approaching to the brand new syllabus and new science subjects such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Add.Maths.btw im in pure sc now. i know sc stream has wider field but if im into business or banking or wadever in the future then..... it would be wasted and i have no basics on that. Firstly, add.maths brought all of us crazy. I ever have the "initiative" to drop physics as I have a hard time getting over it and I worried it will ruin my cert. I gave myself sometime by betting whether I may continue to keep Physics for SPM by looking at my chances of a "pass" in Physics. In that year, there's 2 assessments and 2 examinations for Form 4. If I have at least 2 passes over 4 examinations/assessments in Physics, then I will move on and take Physics for SPM. I passed in the first assessment, and the 2 following exam/assessment got me failed. I was about to give up. In the end, I couldn't believe I passed Physics in my final exam. I found out I am "ok" with paper 1 and 3. Paper 2's the one who made me failed. You would wonder why am I so dumb to take Physics although I only managed to get through the "borderline"? I wish I could drop Physics and Add.Maths. I have less worries on Add.Maths compare to Physics because I have attended Add.Maths tuition and concentrate to the fullest during Add.Maths class. The outcome? Not bad, got a B3 in the 3 exams after I have failed Add.Maths for the first time during first assessment. People would have thought, "A person who's can handle Add.Maths and Maths are going to do well in Physics", for my case it's a lil different. To do well in Physics, I need more "personal attention" to love this subject and recently I got my school Physics teacher to teach me and a few of my friends as a study group after school once a week because in school, I can sense that I am lack of concentration learning Physics in school due to many students are making troubles. Well, that's my opinion. Although no one hates Chemistry, but seriously, we kinda forget the basics xD. Bio is alright for me but still, I have to maintain my best effort to maintain the best grades I can get. Think on a brighter side. If you are taking important science subjects you do not like, you can always drop it as you wish, but not during SPM. If you drop the subjects now, you will not have the foundation/basic of the subjects, meaning you have "zero" knowledge on these subjects, resulting you have almost 0% to get a degree that's requires these subjects. As an example, you cannot take Engineering if you have no SPM Physics and Add.Maths. Even if you have no interest in some job fields now, who knows during future you can have your "backups" to save you from being sorry. My advice after all the crap lecture: In my conclusion, you should stay with the subjects you are learning which truly helps you in your future. If you are in science stream, keeping staying and work extra harder on the subjects you are weak in since you have not decide what field you will be in future. Easy to score or scoring SPM in flying colours is not a main issue. The important fact you have to remember is take up important subjects that you might need them for future, no matter how much you love or hate it. A credit (C6 and above) for your SPM subjects is sufficient enough for you to secure a degree and more jobs you can apply with. After SPM, you can always drop the subjects you cannot cope with. As long as you get over with the subjects during SPM, the rest will be not be any much hassle for you for future tertiary education in case you have changed your mind on which course you are going to enrol. This is my final year studying History, PA, Physics and Add.Maths. 2 years of suffer. Soon I will miss it. xD . Hope I can get over Physics and Add.Maths with satisfying marks. *Cheers*. Hope it helps. This post has been edited by ilovecookies92: Feb 8 2009, 01:34 AM |

QUOTE(QianYu @ Feb 7 2009, 08:57 PM) hey everyone. don't like eco and add maths..xDi need some advice here as im really frustrated whether to remain in sc stream or jump to art? i got 6a2b in pmr. bm n bc b.wtf so.i got into pure sc and life's kinda tough. XD i dislikes addmath x_x and my mum suggest me to chg to art stream cuz its easier to score in spm? but i don't like econs and acc. esp when its in BM but i dont hink i can cope up with addmaths either. any advice anyone? help please. urgently as its already feb =( help will be appreciated. THX Do you like to draw or ICT then? You may take Art, ICT etc. I'm was a pure science student last year and I took economics and account as extra subjects. Hmm, I do agree with others saying that science students have a wider field in the future, as business subjects are easier to catch up with. 6A2B is not too bad, you can cope with those subjects if you work on them. How could you go for business or banking field if you don't like accounting and economics? Either science or art, interest is the 1st thing you have to consider. Other than science and art, is there anything you like? Like ERT , lukisan kejuruteraan, ICT and so on. Now is only Feb, add maths is not as hard as you think. If you can catch up the syllabus and practice always, you can score well. If you really can't, you can drop some subjects when you register for SPM subjects in form5. It won't be a waste for science student to go for art stream. Those things we have learned came to be our knowledge. We have more knowledge than others. Everyone has to be more competitive and there is nothing like PURE science or PURE art student, we must have some extra knowledge to heighten our value. |

M1V1 = M2V2 0.1x25 = M2x3.5 M2 = 0.071428571 .:. 0.071428571 mol/dm3 0.071428571 = mol / 35x10^-3 mol = 2.5x10^-3 That is why the answer should be D; the diluted water will only reduce the concentration of HCl but not the mol |
