this is a prob on most 5800...if not all.. it will probably bug all 5800 users as this happens from the start and sometimes a few weeks after u buy the phone..

afaik the speakerphone volume going low is caused by hardware faults..not software and it cant be fixed by firmware..

some people report then when they push the phone on their ears harder the sound got louder again and when pushed a bit out sound got too low..

Normally contact point connection wont failed so easily. Most newer phone using this method to ease assembly and replacement later.

Maybe the nature of the touchscreen the main culprit. U touching the screen, putting pressure on the screen and thus the components underneath it.
*
your guess is probably right.. but if the speaker isn't glued on, the problem WILL happen sooner or later even after you've sent it to a nokia centre because of vibrations and use of touchscreen, unless nokia centres glues the speaker..

will the problem still arise(speaker) when the 2nd batch arrived ?

hopefully not  rclxms.gif

i think u have to wait maybe 6 or more months for the 2nd batch of 5800..by that time n97 would probably be available..

Guys, remember this is 1st batch 5800. 2nd batch normally has hardware changes just like other Nseries (for better or worst..)
*
and guys remember if you want the 2nd batch of 5800, it will probably come in about 6 or more months..

yeah..u r correct david.. there's a chance that the problem won't be fixed in the 2nd batches of 5800..

and if you're gonna wait that long (maybe 6 months) for the 2nd batch, how do you know and make sure that you are buying a 2nd batch and not the 1st batch?

This shouldn't be the 1st batch. the 1st batch already goto those 7 countries. Lots of thing should be rectified bah.

Somemore pics

All auto , Macro mode
*
lets say you are right about the 1st batch going to other countries..and malaysian ori is the 2nd batch (highly unlikely), y are the problems still not fixed?

my guess for nokia to make the components clipped on is because it'll be pita for people to replace just that part. back then everything sticked on the main board, anything spoiled have to change the whole board. sweat.gif
*
from what i can see it's not even clipped on..now that worries me..

Hardware revision cant be implemented quickly for large volume product like phones. Remember that parts has been purchased and stocked earlier. I dont expect Nokia to throw away all those parts. A single changes in hardware design will involves a few components and not mentioning the time for testing.
*
very nice answer to people that says 2nd batch will be better than 1st batch and so on..

to make a hardware revision in production requires large amounts of money and time, months!! like maybe 6..8 months.. and even if they produced a 2nd batch, it won't guarantee a fix in hardware.

and even if the 2nd batch WITH fixes comes out, how will you know you'll be getting the 2nd batch? what if shops in your area are still selling the 1st batch..

now i can see why they r selling at such tempting price even for ori set..
*
a very high possibility why the ori prices are so low.. and why the prices are going down faster than other new phone..

5800 of course i got concerns as it is a touchscreen and nokia only made one or two only before this 5800..

i said i will be buying a phone on the 9th or 10th..no need to be concerned as i have an n81 already and a few other phones biggrin.gif

btw i dont need to buy a current model..heck the n95 8gb is a year old model and still it's in my list.. thumbup.gif

ya, i agreed with ur last sentences...for those good phone, it still in my list even they r old...jus like n95, or n958gb, or E90...cool
*
yeah.. and maybe iphone too? i didnt own one but got to used one for some time and for a touchscreen phone this is a wonder..every manufacturer wants to be an iphone-killer..

5800 is not an iphone-killer. maybe n97 can take that title although it's a bit different as it has full physical qwerty keys..

hw much it charge u???
aiyo, wait again ah...wait no more la....overall, i din counter any problem on it....so warranty is nt an issue here lol...hehe
*
haha..this i have to agree, apple has made right on iphone. the build quality is very high .. nice to hold in your hand..

we'll see if n97 has a build quality like that of iphone's. i can't say the same for 5800 although it's a sturdy phone, it does have a cheap feeling to it because of the plastic ..iphone metal on the back..

a user that have used a 5800 and iphone will say the same..

but price wise, the 5800 is a very good choice... just need to repair the problems that will come with it.. for people that use a bluetooth headset they may not notice or realise the earpiece speakerphone problem... unless they use the phone itself for talking.
