Hey guys, haven't got one yet (waiting for official launch - I think I'll go and try to get one then!) but was wondering if those who have had tried out the GPS performance yet? Feedback please, thanks.

GPS lock is not as fast as my old nokia 6110.

i have updated the firmware on my own using flashing software...
it's not recommend for the weak of heart though and it takes a lot of time for the setup but the flashing process is pretty quick laugh.gif laugh.gif

now if your phone is dead you can send it to me, i will flash it for you laugh.gif

I think they got backward compatibility!!!
Can run some (s60v3) app + games. It gives u a virtual d-pad button and few extra keys. Just forgot where i read it.
Anyways should call the 5800 owners to test it. Since there are alot here!

Ok. nod.gif Bumping my question up again, those who already have the phone, please try to answer my question cos it's quite an important factor in deciding whether I get this phone or not. I really need some of the S60v3 apps and there are hardly any S60v5 games now. Thanks. icon_question.gif

Hi bros thinking of getting this phone. For those who already own it, is it backwards compatible?

I used to play a lot of games and use a lot of applications on my old N95 (S60v3). Can the 5800 support S60v3 games and apps? Cos now got very few S60v5 games and apps...

you have to download the map first or else it will download the map as you go just like google map. if you already installed the map, it will only use 3G/GPRS for the lock process if you enabled A-GPS.

i've answered that similar question.

yes yes yes, Nokia 5800 supports both S60v3 & of course, S60v5.

i've tested it biggrin.gif

it will support but it won't look good and a waste of screen size.

camera wise, is n95 8gb much better than 5800?

there's a dull colour effect because of the lens cover on the 5800...
*
Definitely better. Although the 5800 has a 3.2 MP camera, the sensor is quite lousy (I guess they couldn't put a good one on for the price they're selling the phone at) compared to the N95 camera, which has picture quality close to that of standalone digital cameras. In fact I sold my sony digital cam since my N95 took such good pictures.

I saw some 5800 cam pics on review sites. Most of the pictures taken indoors are very noisy or grainy. The pictures taken outdoors are alright but complex details (text, facial features, patterns) are blurred.

Go to Lowyat Plaza 1st Floor and look for a shop with the word 'Kingston' which is near the Nokia Concept Store. They are selling RM1499 and they have ready stock. Just give your best in bargaining and you should be able to get it at RM1399.
