shouldnt be a problem for you to update your firmware..the firmware v200 was released last month..dont think nokia pull it back like what they did with 5800's firmware..have you download and install the latest nsu?

open you back cover, take off the battery..there should be a sticker on it..if you see a hologram sticker means that your set must be an avaxx or zitron set which is original set from nokia..if not, its an AP set..this thread explain more about Original set and AP set Click Me!

QUOTE(twlau @ Feb 18 2009, 11:09 PM)
hello, everyone...

Please add me in as "Nokia E71 user Black Steel (Avaxx)" member.
I just bought it, extremely like it, very powerful phone.
I prefer the Black, instead of Grey, just because the Black more look like a executive person. haha.

The casing is very solid and very high-class,
but very dislike that top red button, ugly and difficult to press (did u face this problem?)

and how come the charger head can't fully insert into the hand-phone port? left a little bit of the silver pin at outside?

and touch of laser cutting at the battery cover not enough smooth.

other than this, E71 is a GREAT phone! and totally worth the price!

Kindly share any tips on using E71 with me, I'm a new user,
TQ.
*
Grey and white steel user never complain bout the battery cover..for what we know, the battery cover is top class..except some of the forumer here who complains that their battery cover is a bit loose..btw, welcome to the club..i guess i have to add the Black steel user list in the 1st page..

i just test the keypad, call quality, Avaxx sticker, accessories... etc
including testing the wifi, gps, camera...
too much function on E71, so too much thing to test,
hence forgotten to test the on/off button. =_=|||

but since i seldom press it, and as long as it's still can press, so just forget about it.
Not complaining lar, nothing is perfect.
I just to point out some disadvantage to future buyer, since already alot of people talk about E71 function & advantage.
*
the fugly on/off is well documented before..but i guess the user dont bother much bout that..i dont call that as a disadvantage..it only effects the appearance not the functions..the functions comes 1st before the looks..

wanna ask, do we usually need to re-install GARMIN after firmware update even though we have restore back fr PS suite back up?

Tx
*
nope..i assumed you've install it on your memory card..i think most of us did..so after you update your firmware, just re-install all the apps that you installed on your phone memory..

seems like i am not alone. would it be due to garmin? i am quite sure other programmes were installed properly?
if the installed programmes were in the storage, such as garmin, is there anyway that i could transfer them to another storage card without installing it again?

thanks.
*
dont think so you can mate..i think you need to use the setup file and install it on another storage card..

Anyone knows if there is a way to set a permanent alarm for daily use.
What I am using now is when the alarm sound, each time u off it, u have to set it again for another day.
U can't get it permanent like it rings every morning at 7am and so on.
or is there any 3rd party software that does this?
*
there's no option for Workdays? usually when you set the alarm, on the screen under "Repeat" you can set whether to repeat within 24 hours, daily, workdays or weekly..try and check it out..
