Dozo. From the tab, i found it quite easy to pull off, just need a bit practice. Actually, my dad is very good with drums but I'm too shy to ask him play anime song ( well yeah, he like those metal and intricate hard rock song ) and he seems to dislike anime a bit sweat.gif .

he might be disliking anime a bit but i believe as a musician, he might be interested with any kind of music per se.

huhu managed to find a band in my workplace which is luckily short of bassist.Problem is they are more into indie style.Well I manage to convince them to play this Mospeada opening theme song in malay. It was after I let them hear the sample of the song which is played by our local band Hujan.Itupun pasal nasib baik lagu tu kumpulan Hujan pernah main.Kalau x hamjadah!.

Today, while waiting for reports to come in, decided to go to Bentley Music to do something I've always wanted to do... test out the Bass that Mio uses... Have always wondered if it REALLY sound like the one played in K-On songs...

Ok... the reference item is of course, the JB62/3TS Fender 62 Jazz Bass

user posted image

So picked up the first close candidate... Squire Jazz Bass. Price RM1100+ (after discount)

Was hooked up to a Fender Bass amp, and started to play Cagayake Girls... In the song there's a point where the player would slap and pop (slightly after the intro). I had the shock of my life... It really DID sound like the slap and pop of the song!!! (Hand was about to grab the wallet)

Ok ok... try the next level... A Mexican Fender Jazz Bass (no pic). For some reason, the pop didn't sound as good.

Then tried the thing closest to Mio's (in terms of color). A Special Edition Fender Jazz Bass worn look. It's a bass that's purposely 'damaged' to look like a vintage. Price RM6100+

Sounded warmer. The pop was close to the song, but off by a fraction.

So the verdict. I do think the Fender Bass Amp used in this experiment played a role in giving that nice warm tone on normal play, and bright sound for slaps and pops. I was impressed with that Squire Jazz Bass - would be nice to complement the Ibanez I have now to allow me to play more.... ehem... Jazz like music. At the price it was selling, I was VERY tempted.

So only 1 question remain... should I at least try to find a real JB62/3TS and give it a try? Amazon JP is selling it at about RM2800....

Wow ... What I would suggest is , Don't buy it just because your favorite anime has it UNLESS you really like it . If you can go for a Jazz Bass 62 , Then go for it =)
